it did grow it was growing pretty fast It has I love you and a heart cut into the side Is it strange I sometimes talk to it I really love my plant I can t have a pet so I kind of treat it as my pet instead But I m always worried that something is going to happen to it I don t even know what it is But I feel like I d be just talking to myself I love plants for many reasons I used to enjoy watching my grandmother in her yard how she would talk to them and water them and how she loved to be out in the garden barefooted 赤脚 I loved the smell of her home when she would cut the flowers and bring them indoors and how she collected and dried them and put them up to make the house look so nice Grandma loved to tell stories of her fairies that lived in her yard She said no matter what kind of day you had you could come home and relax in your yard and enjoy the view She was right My mother also loved plants She talked with and cared for all her plants She didn t let my sisters water her plants but she let me She said they didn t water them enough or too much but she said I had the green thumb Today I have the love for plants as my grandmother and mother did Believe it or not I still have plants that Grandma had and Mom had Now that they are gone I still share their company in my garden So when I step outside the garden barefooted of course I also share the ground with my favorite ladies I so enjoy seeing their plants grow bloom and come back every year bigger and better 26 What does the writer do to show her love for her plant A She bought it for Christmas B She knows what it much electricity do you use These days everyone is worried about the size of their carbon footprint In order to reduce global warming we need to make our carbon footprints smaller But how much CO2 are we responsible for A new book by Mike Berners Lee a leading expert in carbon footprint might be able to help How Bad are Bananas The Carbon Footprint of Everything looks at the different things we do and buy and calculates the amount of CO2 they produce For example to calculate the footprint of a bottle of juice he tried to find out how much CO2 all of the following created the ingredients the electricity used in the factory the equipment the travel of the juice and the packaging It s amazing how many different things need to be included in each calculation And it s frightening how much carbon dioxide everything produces But all of this can help us decide which juice to drink From Berners Lee s calculations it s clear that a bottle of locally made juice has a smaller carbon footprint than a bottle of imported one This is because the imported juice has been transported from far away and it uses more packaging Berners Lee has even calculated the carbon footprint of cycling to work Nothing is more environmentally friendly than riding a bike surely Well it depends on what you ve had to eat before To ride a bike we need energy and for energy we need food So if we eat a banana and then ride a kilometer and a half our footprint is 65g of CO2 However if we eat bacon before the bike ride it s 200g In fact bananas are good in general because they don t need packaging they can be transported by boat and they grow in natural sunlight So does this mean that cycling is bad for the environment Absolutely not for a start if you cycle you don t use your car and the fewer cars on the road the fewer traffic jams And cars in traffic jams produce three times more CO2 than cars traveling at speed Cycling also makes you healthy and less likely to go to a hospital And hospitals have very big carbon footprints So maybe it s time for us all to start making some changes Pass me a banana and a bottle of local juice please 31 According to the passage a carbon footprint shows A how the carbon footprint of a bottle of juice A Locally made juice has used more packaging B Imported juice is friendlier to the environment C Locally made juice includes many kinds of things D Imported juice has a bigger size of carbon footprint 33 Why are bananas good in general A They produce less CO2 B They grow naturally C They don t need packaging D They provide energy for cycling 34 To make our carbon footprints smaller we should often A drink more local juice B cycle to work C calculate the amount of CO2 D buy cheap things from the markets 35 The writer is trying to ask people to A live a low carbon life B read Berners Lee s new book C change ways of going out D buy more local products C The American astronaut Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon Neil Armstrong was
