Characterized by energetic and sociable, more cooperative and sensible than we give them credit for.2. Having gained basic knowledge after several years learning.3. Willing to take part in the diversified activities if they are interested in.4. Eager to learn more English knowledge to fit their future career.Disadvantages:1. Lack self-confidence and having little communication skills because of the negative experience in the past.2. Easily get bored and unmotivated.Analysis of the Teaching Material The material is excerpted from Unit 4, Book 3. The unit task is to work out a memo dealing with customers complaint. Listening & Speaking is the first period of this unit, which mainly focuses on arousing students interest on the topic.1. The topic about “making a complaint” is close to vocational school students and will surely stimulate discussion and excite imaginative responses.2. From the lesson, students will learn some words and expressions to talk about making a complaint. 3. The content designed from easy to difficult, from shallower to deeper will lead effective teaching and learning.Teaching ObjectiveCognitive objective:1. To identify and understand the new words: complain, alarm, leaflet, producec, dictionary, etc.2. To learn the words expressing making a complainCompetence objective:1. To be able to express and make a complaint by using the expressions.2. To develop students listening and speaking competence.Affective objective:1. To foster students awareness of cooperation and competition.2. To help students to find the usage and fun of learning English, so that they will learn it actively.3. To help students to establish a good attitude towards their future career. Chart making can train students learning strategy of taking notes while listening.1. Presentation 1) Game: Jigsaw reading (Group work)Rules: With the book closed, divide students in to groups of 4. The activity can make the reading more dynamic. The competition game can motivate students to take part in the teaching activity actively.2. The abilities of analyzing, discovering are trained during the group work. Help the students to get a deeper impression on the teaching material. 2 . Simple role play ( Pair work) Ask and answer questions with the help of sample dialogue, then change roles. A: Ill have this. B: What is the problem?A: I bought this in your shop but .B: Did you .A: When did you buy it?B: Im sorry for the inconvenience weve caused you. Would you like a refund?1. This practice helps students to practice what they learned in an easy way. It helps them to establish confidence. 2. Such practice makes them stick closely to the sample, also guides their own efforts.3. Production ( Pair work)Task: Skill show-making a complaint(Prepare two pairs of cards. Each one is designed with a task. Students will have to do as the cards.) Card A: You are a customer and last week you bought a mobile phone online. Unfortunately, it didnot work yesterday without any signal. You would like to return the goods and ask for a refund by calling the telephone service. Card B: You are a telephone service of Jingdong and deal with all kinds of complaints. A customer is calling to about about the mobile phone he bought yesterday. Card C:You are a customer of Vanguard supermarket. Yesterday you bought a box of yourget in the supermarket. But when you arrived home, you found the yougort is expired. You want to get it replaced. Card D: You ared a manager of Vangard supermarket. A customer is making a complaint about the yourgout she bought yesterday. You have to deal with it.1) Ask students to choose a card and prepare for the role play2) Ask some pairs to perform in front of the class.3) Vote the best pair. 1. When students are getting familiar with the new language, they are likely to make a freer production.2.
