SEFC Book 2 and the topic is Our Body and Healthy Habits This part includes some words which are connected with food body and health as well as five questions designed to consolidate these words This part also includes 2 passages and some questions Reading part is designed to develop students ability of comprehending passages and analyzing problems as well as develop students reading skills II II TeachingTeaching ObjectivesObjectives According to the new English Curriculum Standard when teaching teachers should lay emphasis on the four skills listening speaking reading and writing What s more the four skills should be intergraded well because when we communicate we often use more than a single skill My teaching objectives contain three aspects language objectives ability objectives and moral objectives 1 Language Objectives Important words or phrases Fresh fruit vegetable fish fat sugar sweets have a sweet tooth diet catch a cold fever flu exercise injury fit playing football These words and phrase I mentioned above are very important and useful once the students master them they can understand the text better and use them in their daily life 2 Ability Objectives 1 Enable students to predict the passage according to the background information 2 Enable students to learn to skim passages for main ideas and to scan for specific details 3 Enable students to express communicate cooperate and self think This is a general reading class As we all know the main objective is to improve the students reading ability So I will train students abilities to predict the improve their abilities of expression communication cooperation and self thinking by discussing with each other asking and answering some open questions because these abilities are very important for the students in their daily life 3 Moral Objectives 1 Help students to learn that it is important for us to choose healthy food 2 Help students to develop their own healthy diet 3 Help students to develop the habit of exercise The topic of this module is Our Body and Healthy Habits Passage 1 and passage 2 mainly tell us that Zhou Kai is quite fit because he has a healthy diet and takes a lot of exercise So I will get students understand the importance of keeping healthy and teach them to keep healthy by eating healthy food and taking more exercise III III ImportantImportant PointsPoints 1 Master two important reading skills skimming and scanning Skimming is used to find the main idea of the whole passage Scanning is used to find specific information from a passage These two skills are often used in reading 2 To analyze passages and find out the relationship of two passages Only after students understand these two passages totally can they find out the relationship between two passages It s a good way to both evaluate and improve students understanding of passages IV IV DifficultDifficult PointsPoints 1 How to analyze the text and grasp the main idea of the text It s difficult for students to have a comprehensive understanding of the whole passage If students grasp the main idea of whole passage students can easily understand the passage 2 How to skim the the main idea for a short time 3 How to scan passage 2 to find specific information to answer questions It requires students to read the passage quickly and find useful information It s a little difficult for students to get specific information quickly V V TeachingTeaching MethodsMethods I will use the Communicative Language Teaching and Task based Language Teaching Communicative Language Teaching mainly includes asking and answering and discussing Task based Language Teaching mainly includes fast reading reading aloud silent reading skimming and scanning Through these teaching methods students will understand the text better and develop their own reading strategies in their future work 2 Teaching Aids a picture a blackboard a projector and a computer Teaching aids are important for me I will show the students the picture to arouse their interest and guide them to predict passage 1 The blackboard is a main tool to demonstrate my teaching contents to students The projector and the computer help me demonstrate some important contents VI VI LearningLearning MethodsMethods As for learning I will encourage and guide the students to read independently Fast reading reading aloud silent reading answering skimming scanning and discussing are the main forms of the students learning in my class Besides the purpose is to guide students to develop their reading strategies use what they have learnt to express their views and enhance cooperation spirit VII VII TeachingTeaching ProceduresProcedures Step I Preview 5 minutes 1 Ask students to read vocabulary for 2 times on page 2 together 2 Ask students to finish questions bellow the vocabulary box These words will appear in reading Reviewing these words can help students both remember what they have learned and prepare for the following passages Step II Pre reading of passage 1 5minutes 1 Show a picture which is about a boy playing in the rain to students 精品文档 3欢迎下载 Then ask students to say what they have seen 2 Guide students to speak out what consequence the boy in the picture will get Then guide students to predict the story of the passage This picture is closely connected with passage 1 The picture to students can arouse the interest of students They can be also easily clear about the plot of passage 1 I want to develop students ability of prediction in this way Step III While reading of passage 1 5minutes 1 Read passage 1 quickly 2 Ask 2 students to play roles One reads Zhou Kai s words The other reads Zhou Kai s mother s words I ask students to read quickly to get the general understanding Then I ask 2 students to read aloud which can develop students pronunciation and get them understand passage1 better Step IV Post reading of passage1 3minutes Ask students to finish 3 questions of activity 2 By finishing these 3 questions students can understand passage 1 better Step V Pre reading of passage 2 5 minutes 1 Ask students to skim passage 2 and find main ideas of each paragraph 2 I ll give subtitles for each paragraph After students finish reading I ll ask them to give the right order of these subtitles This step is mainly designed to develop students ability of skimming for main idea and having a general understanding of the whole passage Step VI While reading of passage 2 8 minutes After students find main ideas of each paragraph I ll analyze the passage paragraph by paragraph questions Step VII Post reading of passage 2 4 minutes Ask students to finish activity 4 By finishing the questions of activity 4 on the one hand I can evaluate weather students fully understand the passage on the other hand it s a good way to develop students ability of scanning and expression Step VIII Post reading of 2 passages 7 minutes Ask students to read passage 1 and passage 2 together and then let them answer the first question of activity3 How are passage 1 and 2 connected Then ask 2 students to answer it It s a comprehensive question Students will understand these 2 passages deeper by thinking the question Students also can learn to co operate with each other and express their ideas Step IX Summary 2 minutes Summarize the content of this class Let students clear what they have learned today Step X Homework 1 minute 1 Find difficult language points 2 Make a composition about students opinion on Zhou Kai s lifestyle In this class I just analyze 2 passages from general
