广安市2017高考英语阅读理解一轮系列训练(67)阅读理解。阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。So you want to draw money from a bank? Do it yourself. Want to fix a broadband internet connection? Do it yourself. Need a boarding card for your flight? Do it yourself. In theory, companies can save money by replacing human workers with automated self-service systems, while customers gain more choices and control and get quicker service. There is even talk of self-service doing for the service department what mass production did for factories, by enabling the delivery of services cheaply and on a massive scale. Surely the expansion of self-service into more and more areas is to be welcomed? Not necessarily. When it is done well, self-service can do good to both companies and customers. But when done badlywho has not found themselves trapped in a series of endless touchtone menus? In areas where self-service is only just started, this is less of a problem: angry customers can after all, always take their business elsewhere. But if every bank were to prefer self-service systems, customers would no longer be able to express their discount by voting with their feet. As a result, some banks, for example, already promise that their telephone-banking services always offer the choice of talking to a human operator. But in return for human service, many companies will simply charge more.Another disagreement to self-service is that while it saves companies money, it does not always save their customers time. In the best cases, it does, of course: checking yourself in at the airport can be quicker than queuing or making a phone call. But as more and more tasks are on to customers, they may start to hope for the days of old-fashioned service. All of this suggests that there are limits to how far self-service can be taken. Companies that go too far down the self-service route or to do it incorrectly are likely to find themselves being punished. Instead, a balance between self-service and traditional forms of service is necessary.1From this passage, we can see that the writer the use of self-service technology.A. dislikesB. supportsC. thinks highly ofD. makes carefully judgment on2What advantages does the self-service technology certainly bring?A. Cutting the cost for the companies.B. Saving money for customers.C. Offering customers extra money.D. Banks should supply self-service and traditional forms of service as well.B. Self-service in banks has so many week points and should be stopped.C. Self-service can bring about many conveniences and should be supported.D. And while in most settings a title like this would be considered insulting (无礼的) here,it is liked by both the dog owners who come from all over the world and the visitors that come to cheer the contestants. To mark this special anniversary, this years fair that was themed “Dog Days of Summer” featured among other things, including an exhibit featuring the contestants and winners from the last 25 years. As for the winner? Unlike last year, when he had flown in all the way from London,England, this years title winner was Chico,California resident Walle, who beat out 29 other equally “ugly contestants”. The refreshing part was that Walle, who happened to be a last minute entrant(参赛者),is not a nearly hairless,Chinese Crested Chihuahua or a mix of both breeds, which have been dominating the contest for many years now. Instead,he is a mutt mixpart beagle, part basset and part boxer. The fouryearold impressed the judges with his giant head and humped back. As one of them put it,he looked as though he had been photoshopped with pieces from various dogs and maybe a few other animals. It exactly represents the kind of natural “ugliness” they were looking for!Along with the title, the first time entrant received a cash prize of $1,500 as well as scheduled appearances on NBCs weekend Today on Sunday, the Today Show on Monday and the Jimmy Kimmel Show on Wednesday.Though the competition may seem unbelievable to some people,it is held just for fun and organized by an animal psychiatrist who not only vets the dogs before they enter the competition to ensure they are healthy, but also has a “pet” talk with them to ensure they are also happy. It is also important to remember all the contestants come from homes where they are loved because of their rather unusual looks. Now, as she reaches her milestone birthday Friday, the nation will be watching to see in what other areas she will leave her mark. Five years after moving into the White House, and without a re-election campaign to worry about, she has more room to relax in her role and, political watchers say, possibly become more vocal (声音的) on political issues in the three years left in office. So far, critics have complained about Michelles silence on issues where they expected to hear her voice: Last year, at the start of her husbands second term, she disappointed advocates for tighter gun-control measures after she failed to push harder on the issue in response to the massacre (残杀) at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. She also disappointed some feminists (女权主义者) who wanted her to defend their causes instead of falling back on her self-described role as the nations “mom-in-chief.” Nor did she handle racial issues during her second term, as some had expected.“The most important thing to remember is, whether you are black, white or Hispanic, youre the first lady and the president of all the people in the United States. Thats a huge melting pot, so to reinforce (强化)that shes African American over anything else would not be wise,” said Anita McBride, who directs programming and national conferences on the legacies (遗产) of Americas first ladies and their historical influence at American University. Valerie Jarrett, a top White House adviser and a close friend of the Obamas, said the first lady doesnt want to “spread herself too thin.” “She really wants to have a maximum impact and to do that in fewer areas,” Jarrett told the Associated Press. “That, she said, “is better than trying to take on every single possible cause.”But Robert Watson, a Lynn University professor, said he expects Obama to “go a little harder at issues” over the next several years. “Second-term first ladies usually feel more at ease to speak more forcefully about issues close to their heart,” he said. Myra Gutin, a Ryder University communications professor and frequent lecturer on first ladies, said she expects Obama to continue making both of them a priority in her remaining years in the White House, given their success. Michelle launched the “Lets Move” campaign in 2010. It in particular has gained widespread support, ranging from the National Football League to the Sesame Street franchise (特许), which even
