How to write thanks letter. 1、感谢的场合英美等西方人非常讲究礼貌。“请”、“对不起”、“谢谢”是经常使用的。“谢谢你”则意味着某人为自己做了什么事情之后表示谢意,即使是一件无足轻重和极其普通的事情。比如,店员为你服务,餐馆里的服务员为你送上一杯咖啡,学生回答问题,丈夫为妻子倒了一杯水,丈夫协助妻子就座,等等,都要说“谢谢”,可以说是从早到晚“谢”不离口。就是说,在英美等国家,人们对他人给予的巨大帮助要表示感谢,对举手之劳的小事,如指路、让座、找钱、回答询问、传递东西等也要表示感谢。人们不仅对上司、同事和陌生人的帮助表示感谢,而且对关系十分密切的亲戚、朋友、父母、子女等的帮助也毫无例外地表示感谢。2、致谢的类别和规范致谢主要有口头感谢和书面感谢两种形式。口头致谢是感谢人和被感谢人之间面对面或者通过电话进行的。比如:Thanks(谢谢),Thank you very much indeed(实在是多谢了),Its very kind/good/nice of you to come and help us(非常感谢你来帮忙)等。对别人的感谢,被感谢者要有礼貌地做出回应。最常见的英语回答用语是You arewelcome(不客气)。这句套话美国人用得较多,现在英国人用得也多起来。还有Not atall(别客气),Thats all right(不谢),Thats okay(不谢),后面的两种则比较随便。对别人的感谢做出合乎礼仪的反应是社会规范的要求。当有人送你礼物、在你身处困境时伸出友谊和援助之手、推荐或褒奖你或盛情款待你的时候, 你可以当面致谢,但若能事后再添一封感谢信的话,效果会更好。感谢的话语最好是亲笔手写的。换句话说,避免使用电脑打字, 或在卡片上草率签字了事。感谢信要写得及时,最好是事发之后的第二天或第三天。感谢信上不必添油加醋夹杂与感谢无关的内容。当你收到礼物时,应及时用感谢信的形式通知对方礼物已收到。最好提一下你为何喜欢那个礼物,以证明对方选礼物有眼力,想得周到等。感谢信不能一拖再拖,迟迟不发。若是不能及时写信,你必须在迟发的感谢信中说明来由,并表示歉意。你因受到盛情招待而发的感谢信英文叫做 bread and butter letter。Bread andbutter 泛指主人殷勤周到为你提供住宿、食物、方便等。中文里很少使用诸如Thankyou for your time之类的感激话语,而英文却恰恰相反。当你受病痛折磨时,或经历生离死别时,朋友愿意花时间来照顾你、关心你,这是非常珍贵的友谊的体现。写上Thankyou for your time 或Thank you for being there for me (谢谢你大力的支持/谢谢你与我共同渡过难关) 是非常贴切的。下面是一篇感谢信范文:November 19, 1998Dear Mr. Roberts:Thank you so much for taking the time to write me a letter of recommendation formy job search. I feel confident that your acknowledgment of my abilities will contributeto the strength of my candidacy.I will keep you posted as my search progresses. Thank you again.Sincerely,Jack Chen感谢信(thank-you letters) 是英语国家最主要的书面感谢形式。写感谢信要诚挚、及时,语言要自然、热情,就好像你当面与被感谢者谈话一样。感谢信主要用在以下几种情况:(1) 接受宴请时(dinner parties);(2) 过夜拜访后(overnight visits);(3) 接受生日礼物、结婚周年纪念礼物、圣诞及其他礼物时(for birthday, anniversary, Christmasand other gifts);(4) 新娘接受礼物时(shower gifts);(5) 病人收到礼物时(gifts to asick person);(6) 收到吊唁信时(for notes of condolence);(7) 收到贺卡或贺礼时(forcongratulatory cards or gifts);(8) 收到婚礼礼物时(wedding gifts);(9) 女主人收到访客的礼物时(when a hostess receives a gift after visitors have left);(10) 商业客户受到推销员的款待时(when a client is entertained by a sales representative) 等。如果赠送的礼物是一笔钱,受礼者致谢时应说明钱将如何使用。通常在拜访结束后的几天内写一封感谢信是绝对必要的。另一类书面致谢形式是感谢卡(card of thanks)。感谢卡一般是印制的,封面上带有”感谢您” 的字样,只要在上面注明感谢的理由并签上姓名就可以邮寄给你要感谢的人了。此外,还有一种特殊的感谢卡报纸感谢卡(newspaper card of thanks)。如果应该感谢的人很多或者感谢的对象不确定时,就可以在报纸上登载广告,载明因何事感谢哪些人就可以了,这同时还起到了广告的效应。【Class summary】This class finished basically according to the teaching plan.
