Analysis of the teaching content 教材内容分析这节课是一节阅读课。这篇课文体裁是记叙文。继续文的最大特点就是以时间顺序为线索。本篇课文完美地体现了记叙文这一特点。文章可明确地按照时间线索分为三部分内容:马可波罗来到中国前,到中国以后的经历,回到意大利的经历。同时,我们也可以通过马可波罗的探险壮举来培养学生的探索未知世界的品质,可以通过马可波罗的描述来回顾我国古代伟大先进的文明,从而对学生进行情感教育。II. Design of Teaching Objectives 教学目标设计(三维目标)1. Knowledge objectives 知识目标Make the students master the following words, phrases and sentence pattern.(让学生掌握下列单词、短语和句型。)(1) Important words(重点单词):dictation, author, wealthy, statement, reply, confuse, local, seat, court, trade, describe, available, serve, guest, eventually, especially, Emperor, (2) Important phrases(重点词组):do trade with, in turn, be confused by, pay for, break out, stand by , take dictation (3) Important sentence pattern(重点句型):The prisoner then wrote the stories in a book called The Description of the World, which became one of the best-selling books in Europe.2. Ability objective能力目标To improve the students reading ability through reading activities.(通过系列阅读活动提高学生的阅读理解能力。)3.Affective objectives 情感价值目标(1)After learning the passage, the students are expected to know about Marco Polos experiences in China and the great Chinese civilization at that time.(通过本节课的学习,让学生了解马可波罗在中国的经历以及当时伟大的中华文明。)(2)Enable the students to be encouraged by the travelers spirit of adventure.(让学生受到旅行家的冒险精神激励。). What do you think the text is going to talk about from the title? 2. What kind of article it is? Explain your reason. (Narration)学生活动:学生分组把自己的想法汇报给组员。设计意图: (1)激活学生已有的信息,使学生具备摄入新知识的心理定势。(2)激发学生的探究兴趣。(3)通过对记叙文体裁特点的认识来理清文章的线索:时间。Step III. While-reading(14minutes)(阅读,14分钟)1 Fast Reading(4minutes)(快速阅读,4分钟)教师活动:教师用投影仪展示出下面问题: Check your prediction Try to divide the passage into 3 parts according to the following topic.1. The reasons of his going to China2. His experiences in China3. The experiences after his returning to Italy学生活动:学生快速浏览课文,了解课文大意并分出段落。设计意图:训练学生快速阅读,根据记叙文的特点归纳各段落的中心意思的能力。(Skimming for the main idea)参考答案:Part 1: para 1 The reasons of his going to ChinaPart 2: para24 His experiences in ChinaPart 3: para56 The experiences after his returning to Italy2. Careful Reading (10minutes)(细读,10分钟)(1)教师活动:要求学生按照三部分认真阅读课文,寻找相关信息回答问题:Read each part and answer these questions.Part 1:1) Why did Marco and his father travel to China?参考答案:Because his father wanted to do trade with the Chinese.Part 2:2) Why was the emperor impressed with Marco?参考答案:Because Marco was very clever and could already speak four languages.3) What things did impress and surprise Marco very much? Why? 参考答案:Beijing and the Emperors Palace; paper money and coal.Because he thought the Summer Palace was “The greatest palace that ever was”, and in Europe people paid for goods with gold or silver. He also never had seen coal before.Part 3:4) How long did Marco spend in China?参考答案:Marco stayed in China for 17 year. It was from 1254 to 1271.5) Why was he put into prison when he went back to Italy?参考答案:Because a local war broke out. During the war he was captured by the enemy.6) What was the name of his book? Did he write this book on his own?参考答案:The name of his book was The Description of the World. No, another prisoner wrote it while Marco told all his stories to him.学生活动:认真阅读课文完成任务,然后向全班汇报。设计意图:训练学生快速,准确查阅细节、捕捉关键信息的能力。(Scanning for detailed information)(2)教师活动:/bokecooltou/1822929 用多媒体演示马可波罗的旅行经历动画学生活动:填写Traveling Record 表格TimePlacesTravels and Experiences设计意图:引导学生写概括性的游历记录。Step IV Post-reading(6minutes)(读后,6分钟)教师活动:教师展示一些具有归纳段落内容的图片让学生根据图片内容写Summary 以下图片来自:/BeiKeZhongXin/Preparation_Search.aspPart1: Summary:Marco Polo was born in Italy in 1254 and left Venice on his way to China when he was 17 years old.Summary:At that time, China was ruled by the Yuan Dynasty Emperor, Kublai Khan.Part2:Summary:Marco Polo arriving at Kublai Kahns courtThe Emperor asked him to serve in his court and sent him to do many tasks across the country. Marco was amazed by how beautiful and powerful China was. He was very impressed by Beijing and the Emperors palace. Summary:There were inventions and developments in China which were not available in Europe at that time. He was surprised to see Chinese people using paper money in the markets. He was also confused by the black stones people used to burn for fuel.Part 3: Summary:In 1291, after 17 years of services to the Emperor, Marco returned to Italy. Not long after his return, Marco Polo was caught by the enemy in a local war. Another prisoner was an author and he took diction while Marco told all his stories to him.
