四教学内容 (A, B 篇课堂完成,C篇为作业)AIn those years of poverty, many classmates often couldnt bring good box meal to school, so did my deskmate. His meal was always the black fermented soybean (豆豉)while mine was often ham and fried egg, completely different from his. Whats more, every time my classmate would first pick the hair from his box meal and eat it as if nothing had happened. This uncomfortable discovery continued all along.“Clearly his mother is so lousy that even her hair drops in the meal.” My classmates talked about it secretly. I felt it was too dirty but I couldnt show that because of his self-respect. So my impression on him began to decline greatly. One day after school, he called me and said, “Would you like to go to my home if youre free?”Though reluctant, I found it not good to refuse because this was his first invitation since we were in the same class. Following my friend, we arrived at a poor village located at the Seouls steepest(陡峭的) place.“Mum, I bring my friend home.”Hearing my classmates excited voice; his aged mother opened the door and appeared. “My sons friend comes. Let me have a look.” But his mother _ I felt sad without a word. My classmates box meal was as usual the fermented soybean every day, but it was his_ mother who carefully prepared for him. It was not only a lunch, but also a mothers full love, and even the hair mixed in it was the mothers love. She was sure Myra wouldnt forget her mothers birthday, even if she was busy. After all, eighty was a special birthday. Perhaps Myra might come. Even if Myra did not come, she would send a present. The old lady was sure of that. Two spots of color brightened her cheeks. She was excited like a child, Mrs. Morrison had brought a card and a bunch of flowers when she came to do the breakfast. Mrs. Grant downstairs had made a cake. Johnnie, the little boy next door, was now up with her with a packet of sweets. I guess youll get lots and lots of presents, he said. I did last week when I was six. What would she like? A pair of slippers perhaps. A blue new cardigan. Or a table lamp. Or a little clock, with clear black numbers. So many lovely things. She stood by the window, watching. The postman turned round the corner on his bicycle. Her heart beat fast. Johnnie had seen him too and ran to the gate. Granny, granny, Johnnie returned. Ive got your post! He gave her four envelopes. Three were from old friends. The fourth was in Myras writing. No parcel (包裹), Johnnie? No, granny. Almost reluctantly, she tore the fourth envelope open. Folded in the card was a check. Written on the card was a message: Happy BirthdayBuy yourself something nice with the check, Myra and Harold. The six-figure check fell to the floor like a bird with a broken wing. Slowly the old lady bent to pick it up. Her present, her lovely present. With trembling fingers she tore it into little bits. I knew she loved me; she showed it in action. But as a young girl, I wanted heart-to-heart talks between mother and daughter. They never happened. And a gulf opened between us. I was “too emotional(易动感情的).” But she lived “on the surface.”As years passed and I had my own family. I loved my mother and thanked her for our happy family.
