ISS Wofoo Family Institute 國際社和富家庭學院Bowen Family Systems TherapyLevel 2The Bowen Family Systems Therapy strives to eliminate irresponsible patterns in self. Therapy is about establishing responsible patterns rather than developing a solution to a specific problem or taking a stand. (Patricia Hanes Meyer, 1998). The essential goals of this model are helping clients to understand and shift the themes in the family of origin, and changing patterns and triangles in relationships. This course focuses on the practice of this model in therapy. It aims to promote the implementation of the Bowenian concepts and skills in actual clinical work. This course will be practice-oriented and stresses hands-on experience. Contents:l Assessment skills, constructing the clinical genogram in therapy practice, conducting the first session, stages of the first interviewl Systems in context, maintaining a systemic perspective.l Defining a self, practicing I-positions, the therapists own emotional systeml Detriangulationl Attachment, loyalties and lossl Stages in therapy processl Healing through reconnection with familyTeaching Methodology:Lectures, case discussions, role plays, small group exercises, genogram presentations, videos and demonstrationsTrainer : Mrs. Peggy Chan B.Soc.Sc., M.Ed., R.S.W. is presently Director of Programme, ISS Wofoo Family Institute of the International Social Service Hong Kong Branch. She also teaches at counseling and social work programmes of local universities and supervises practicum students. She has over 20 years of experience in individual counselling and family therapy, clinical supervision as well as training of professionals. Mrs. Chan received training in the Multigenerational Family Systems Therapy. She was also trained in Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Pragmatic-Experiential Therapy for Couples, and Sand Play Therapy. She is certified in the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) for post-trauma work. Her areas of specialization include cultural adaptation, intergenerational, marital and womens issues, loss and grief. She has written Person-centered Therapy (人本冶療法) in the book Casework: Theories and Case Illustrations (個案工作:理論及案例), as well as other articles on counselling and family work.Date & Time:August 25, Sept.1, 8, 29, Oct. 6 &13, 2008.
