1.The first story is about connecting the dots.乔布斯讲述了他辍学的原因和辍学后无意间学到的东西对于他十年后设计Macintosh的帮助,最后得出的结论是:you cant connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.(你在向前展望的时候不可能将这些片断串连起来;你只能在回顾的时候将点点滴滴串连起来。 2.My second story is about love and loss. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Dont lose faith. Im convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. Youve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you havent found it yet, keep looking. Dont settle. As with all matters of the heart, youll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. 所以继续找,直到你找到它,不要停下来!)3.My third story is about death. When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: If you live each day as if it was your last, someday youll most certainly be right. It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today? And whenever the answer has been No for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.(当我十七岁的时候, 我读到了一句话:“如果你把每一天都当作生命中最后一天去生活的话,那么有一天你会发现你是正确的。” Your time is limited, so dont waste it living someone elses life. Dont be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other peoples thinking. Dont let the noise of others opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Stay foolish. No big deal, just three stories很相似。2. Jeff, one day youll understand that its harder to be kind than clever.这句话结尾,接下来以“What I want to talk to you about today is the difference between gifts and choices.” 1.Cleverness is a gift, kindness is a choice. Gifts are easy - theyre given after all. Choices can be hard. You can seduce yourself with your gifts if youre not careful, and if you do, itll probably be to the detriment of your choices.(聪明是一种天赋,而善良是一种选择。 2.I didnt think Id regret trying and failing. And I suspected I would always be haunted by a decision to not try at all. 3.Will inertia be your guide, or will you follow your passions?(你们是被惯性所引导,还是追随自己内心的热情?) Will you follow dogma, or will you be original?(你们会墨守陈规,还是勇于创新?) Will you choose a life of ease, or a life of service and adventure?(你们会选择安逸的生活,还是选择一个奉献与冒险的人生?) Will you wilt under criticism, or will you follow your convictions?(你们会屈从于批评,还是会坚守信念?) Will you bluff it out when youre wrong, or will you apologize?(你们会掩饰错误,还是会坦诚道歉?) Will you guard your heart against rejection, or will you act when you fall in love?(你们会因害怕拒绝而掩饰内心,还是会在面对爱情时勇往直前?) Will you play it safe, or will you be a little bit swashbuckling?(你们想要波澜不惊,还是想要搏击风浪?) When its tough, will you give up, or will you be relentless?(你们会在严峻的现实之下选择放弃,还是会义无反顾地前行?) Will you be a cynic, or will you be a builder?(你们要做愤世嫉俗者,还是踏实的建设者?) Will you be clever at the expense of others, or will you be kind?(你们要不计一切代价地展示聪明,还是选择善良?) 4.When you are 80 years old, and in a quiet moment of reflection narrating for only yourself the most personal version of your life story, the telling that will be most compact and meaningful will be the series of choices you have made. In the end, we are our choices. 视频地址:/programs/view/fXhj5N_Fac0/Oprah(奥普拉)在斯坦福2008年毕业典礼上的演讲Oprah,相信很多人都知道,美国一个非常有名的脱口秀主持人,她绝对是个非主流的主持人,首先她是个黑人,而且她长的还很胖,很难看,但就是这个又黑又丑的女人征服了无数美国观众,2008年她被邀请到Stanford做commencement speech,就是下面这个:这个演讲应该很容易听懂,不翻译了这个演讲延续了Oprah诙谐幽默的主持风格,将了3个方面的问题:感情,失败和最求幸福(feelings, failure and finding happiness.)1. feeling: When youre doing the work youre meant to do, it feels right and every day is a bonus, regardless of what youre getting paid. Every right decision Ive madeevery right decision Ive ever madehas come from my gut. And every wrong decision Ive ever made was a result of me not listening to the greater voice of myself. You want your work to be meaningful. Because meaning is what brings the real richness to your life. What you really want is to be surrounded by people you trust and treasure and by people who cherish you. Thats when youre really rich.2. learn from the failure: Id built that school from the outside in, when what really mattered was the inside out. What matters most is whats inside. What matters most is the sense of integrity, of quality and beauty.3.happiness: you have to live for the present. You have to be in the moment. Whatever has happened to you in your past has no power over this present moment, because life is now. Dont live for yourself alone. This is what I know for sure: In order to be truly happy, you must live along with and you have to stand for something larger than yourself. Because life is a reciprocal exchange. To move forward you have to give back. And to me, that is the greatest lesson of life. To be happy, you have to give something back. The lesson here is clear, and that is, if youre hurting, you need to help somebody ease their hurt. If youre in pain, help somebody elses pain. And when youre in a mess, you get yourself out of the mess helping somebody out of theirs. Not everybody can be famous. But everybody can be great, because greatness is determined by service视频地址:/v_show/id_XMTE3MDQzNTky.htmlEllen DeGeneres在纽奥良大学的毕业典礼Youre going to be OK摘录:So In conclusion, when I was younger I thought success was something different. I thought when I grow up, I want to be famous. I want to be a star. I want to be in movies. When I grow up I want to see the world, drive nice cars, I want to have groupies. To quote the Pussycat Dolls. How many people thought it was “boobies”, by the way? Its not, its “groupies”. But my idea of success is different today. And as you grow, youll realise the definition of success changes. For many of you, today, success is being able to hold down 20 shots of tequila. For me, the most important thing in
