AutomobileDefinitionNoun 4-wheeled motor vehicle;usually propelled by an internal combustion engineAn automobile is a wheeled vehicle that carries its own engine. Different types of automobile include cars, buses, vans and trucks, with cars being the most popular by far. Most definitions of the automobiles are designed to run primarily on roads, to have seating for one to eight people, to typically have four wheels, and to be constructed principally for the transport of people rather than goods.HistoryThe history of the automobile begins as early as 1769, with the creation of steam engine automobiles capable of human transport. In 1806, the first cars powered by an internal combustion engine running on fuel gas appeared, which led to the introduction in 1885 of the modern gasoline- or petrol-fueled internal combustion engine. Cars powered by electric power briefly appeared at the turn of the 20th century, but largely disappeared from use until the turn of the 21st century. The early history of the automobile can be divided into a number of eras, based on the prevalent method of automotive propulsion during that time. Later periods were defined by trends in exterior styling, and size and utility preferences.Karl Benz He was a Germany engine designer and car engineer, generally regarded as the inventor of the gasoline-powered cars, and together with Bertha Benz pioneering founder of the automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz.Gottlieb Daimler designed the first modern petrol-driven internal combustion engine for the car in 1883.Peugeot is a major French car brand, the second largest car maker based in Europe. Gasoline engine is a type of internal combustion engine which is often used for automobiles, aircraft, small mobile vehicles such as lawnmowers or motorcycles, and outboard motors for boats. The diesel engine is a type of internal combustion engine, more specifically, a compression ignition engine, in which the fuel is ignited by the high temperature of a compressed gas, rather than a separate source of energy.
