Book 6Unit 3 A healthy life Reading and WritingAnalysis of the teaching materials (教材分析)This is the first teaching period which includes warming-up, pre-reading and reading and gives guidance to writing. The passage belongs to exposition and talks about the topic of healthy life. By talking about the healthy life of Grandad, it leads to the habit of smoking. Grandad tells his grandson the three ways of becoming addicted to smoking, the harmful effects and gives advice. After this period, students may have a good knowledge of the reasons of becoming addicted to smoking and the harmful effects, which will make students fully realize the damage and think twice if they want to smoke in life. Analysis of the students (学情分析) Although students may have known that smoking is not good for their health, there still exist information gaps. Some students may have already begun to smoke because they think it is cool. They dont know exactly what damage smoking will do to the human body. So it would be critical important for students to be fully aware of the harmful effects. After that, they will be eager to know how to give up smoking. Besides, the gaps in reading ability are also very obvious. Thus, teacher should employ different approaches to develop students reading ability.Teaching objectives (教学目标)At the end of the period, the students will be able to.1. Knowledge objectives(知识目标)Understand the following words and expressions: cigarette, adolescent, lung cancer, breathless, pregnant, abnormal, due to, be addicted to, be accustomed to and so on.Learn the harm of smoking and how to stop smoking2. Ability objectives(能力目标)1. Practice the reading skills of skimming and scanning2. Get to know the structure of exposition3. Emotion objectives (情感目标)1. Realize the harmful effects of smoking.2. Try to persuade and help their family members and friends quit smoking.Teaching key points (教学重点)1. Learn the structure of exposition.2. Learn the three ways of becoming addicted to smoking.3. Learn the new words through pictures and sentences.New words: lung cancer, breathless, pregnant, abnormal, due to, be addicted to 设计意图: 词汇输入,扫除阅读障碍。 以画面和语境的方式输入词汇,同时引导学生意识到吸烟对人体影响。Step 3While-reading(skimming)2. Read for the structure(skimming) 设计意图:从构建主义理论为出发点,通过图示的思维导图结构,运用scanning的阅读技巧,让学生对整个文章的写作思路有一个整体的认知,让学生更容易理解说明文的实质,从整体上了解文章的脉络。Step 4 While-reading(scanning)3.Read for details (scanning)设计意图:培养自主学习意识和skimming阅读技巧。通过导学案的形式让学生先去完成细节性的问题,课堂上,老师只需要教学生不会的知识,启发学生思考字里行间的内涵,体现新课标的自主学习的理念。Step 5PracticePractice: Fill in the blanks. 设计意图:升华所学知识,学以致用。 本环节设计是通过与新课程改革考试方式挂钩,培养学生对词汇的敏感程度,让学生知道在平时的学习中学什么。Step 6A summaryWhat have you learned?设计意图:总结,并引导升华。让学生回忆本节课所学的主要内容, 引导学生升华所学知识。Step 7ActivityActivity: sentences dictation1. Smoking is harmful to people.2. Firstly, it will do terrible damage to your heart and lungs. 3. Secondly, the cigarette smoke could affect the health of other people.4. Lastly, you will feel breathless easily and cant enjoy sports. 5. I hope that you can try to give up smoking.设计意图:提供真实的语境,从听,说,读,写中去巩固课堂。学生们分组,选派一个组长到黑板去背诵该组负责的句子,然后回到座位,把句子复述给其他同学听,其他同学在本子上做听写,当他们完成后,则派另一名同学到黑板把正确的句子写到黑板上。这是本节课的一个总结,这个过程不仅可以培养学生的听说读写的能力,同时再次熟悉exposition的框架,自然过渡到写作。Step8HomeworkI have a friend who has smoked for 10 years and feels breathless these days.
