Record a SoundRecord sounds using a microphone attached to the computer.To record a sound1. Make sure you

4、 have an audio input device connected to your computer. 2. On the File menu, click New. To begin recording, click Record . 3. To stop recording, click Stop . Notes Recorded sounds are saved as waveform (.wav) files. You can play your recording in Sound Recorder or in any other program that supports

5、waveform (.wav) files. Play a SoundPlay and listen to a sound file if your computer is equipped with speakers.To play a sound1. On the File menu, click Open. 2. In the Open dialog box, double-click the sound file you want to play.Note: The file must be a waveform (.wav) file. 3. Click Play to start

6、playing the sound. 4. Click Stop to stop playing the sound. Notes You can move to the beginning of a sound file by clicking Seek To Start and move to the end by clicking Seek To End . Insert a Sound File into a DocumentAdd sound to a document.To insert a sound file into a document1. On the File menu

7、, click Open. 2. In the Open dialog box, double-click the sound file you want to insert. 3. On the Edit menu, click Copy. 4. Using a word processing program such as WordPad, open the document into which you want to copy the sound, and then click where you want to insert the sound. 5. On the Edit men

8、u, click Paste. Notes Double click on the speaker icon to play the file (or right click on the file and choose Sound Recorder Document ObjectPlay). Hit the Esc. Key to stop the file (make sure the speaker icon is selected.) You can also link a sound file to a document. Link a Sound File to a Documen

9、tLink a sound file to a document so you can add sound without increasing file size.To link a sound file to a document1. On the File menu, click Open. 2. In the Open dialog box, double-click the sound file you want to link. 3. On the Edit menu, click Copy. 4. Using a word processing program such as W

10、ordPad, open the document into which you want the link to the sound, and then click where you want to insert the sound. 5. On the Edit menu, click Paste Special. 6. In the Paste Special dialog box, click Paste Link, and then click OK. Notes A linked file plays within the Sound Recorder, while an ins

11、erted file plays within the document. A linked sound file will not work if you close out of the Sound Recorder. A linked sound file in a document does not increase the file size of the document like an inserted sound file does. For instance, comparing two documents with nothing in them except for an

12、 inserted sound file in one and a linked sound file in the other, the files were 15.8 MB and 21 KB respectively. If the Edit menu does not contain Paste Special, your program does not support linking. Modify Sound FilesChange the Volume of a Sound FileTo change the volume of a sound file1. On the Fi

13、le menu, click Open. 2. In the Open dialog box, double-click the sound file you want to modify. 3. Play the sound file for a few seconds. Then Stop and Seek to Start.4. On the Effects menu, click Increase Volume (by 25%) or Decrease Volume. 5. Listen to the sound file again to see the difference in

14、volume.Note You can change the volume of an uncompressed sound file only. If you do not see the green line in Sound Recorder, the file is compressed and you cannot modify it unless you first adjust the sound quality. Change the Speed of a Sound FileTo change the speed of a sound file1. On the File m

15、enu, click Open. 2. In the Open dialog box, double-click the sound file you want to modify. 3. On the Effects menu, click Increase Speed (by 100%) or Decrease Speed. Notes Increasing the speed of a sound file makes it play more quickly, but also distorts the sound. For example, if you increase the s

16、peed of a sound file that contains speech, the voice will speak at a higher pitch and speed. You can change the speed of an uncompressed sound file only. If you do not see the green line in Sound Recorder, the file is compressed and you cannot modify it unless you first adjust the sound quality. Pla

17、y a Sound File in ReverseTo play a sound file in reverse1. On the File menu, click Open. 2. In the Open dialog box, double-click the sound file you want to modify. 3. On the Effects menu, click Reverse, and then click Play. Notes You can reverse only an uncompressed sound file. If you do not see the

18、 green line in Sound Recorder, the file is compressed and you cannot modify it unless you first adjust the sound quality. Add an Echo to a Sound FileTo add an echo to a sound file1. On the File menu, click Open. 2. In the Open dialog box, double-click the sound file you want to modify. Note: For dem

19、onstration purposes, the echo may be best heard with a simple voice recording.3. On the Effects menu, click Add Echo. Notes You can add an echo only to an uncompressed sound file. If you do not see the green line in Sound Recorder, the sound file is compressed and you cannot modify it unless you fir

20、st adjust the sound quality. Delete Part of a Sound FileTo delete part of a sound file1. On the File menu, click Open. 2. In the Open dialog box, double-click the sound file you want to modify. 3. Move the slider to the place in the file where you want to cut. 4. On the Edit menu, click Delete Befor

21、e Current Position or Delete After Current Position. Notes Until you save the file, you can undo a deletion by clicking the File menu, and then clicking Revert. Record a Sound into a Sound FileTo record a sound into a sound file1. Make sure you have an audio input device connected to your computer.
