2、he five people you meet in the heavenabout the life after death. the point of the story is to assit those like the eddie in the book and alboms real-life uncle also named eddie (to whom the book is dedicated) feel unimportant to realize their lives really matter and are worthy of appreciation.surpri

3、singly, the story begins at the end, with eddie dying on his 83rd birthday. eddie, or as others called , eddie maintenance ,who lives what he believes daily dum-drum, tedious daily routine” hearing troubles in the spits and stutters” mitch albom, the five people you meet in the heaven,jumps to push

4、a young girl out of the path of the falling car when one of the rides breaks and he gets killed. after awakening in the afterlife , he encounters 5 different people who bear respective significance of which were not evident to eddie when he was alive and is awakened to see what really happened. thro

5、ugh the blue man the first person he meets in heaven, who was killed indirectly by eddie, he learns of the interrelationship of all lives. he is informed that there are five people waiting for him in heaven, known by him or not, who all crossed his path and altered it forever. and it occurs to me a

8、from the wind.” mitch albom, the five people you meet in the heaventhats why we are inclined to be drawn to babies and to funerals. however, two different life attitudes can still be perceived. john donnes poem is permeated with pessimism which takes it for granted that death is diminishing our huma

9、n beings, hence something to be mourned. conversely, what the blue man advocates is a balance to the whole world in which one withers and another grows. i want to take sides with the blue man for i hold the opinion that birth and death are good natural things, or maybe the best thing ever created by

10、 the creator. from the very beginning of our life, we are all aware that death is the destination we all share. no one has ever escaped it yet. whats more, the novel explores the notion that death doesnt just take someone, it misses someone else. to this extent, i want to define death as lifes chang

11、e agent. “it clears out the old to make way for the new. and that is as it should he, because death is very likely the single best invention of life.” jobs steve, as is demonstrated in jobs steves address, death is motive power of life.this point can be further related to sacrifice which is the seco

12、nd lesson eddie learns. the captain sacrificed eddies leg to save his life and sacrificed himself to save the other soldiers. it has been argued that sacrifice like death is something to aspire to instead of something to regret because “sometimes when you sacrifice something precious, you are not re

13、ally losing it. you are just passing it on to someone else.” mitch albom, the five people you meet in the heaventhis further illustrates the point that we are all connected. eddie accidentally killed the blue man, the asian girl in the fire he set and the captain. on the other hand, he kept ruby pie

14、rs rides safe which is a source of joy for generations of children and saved another girl by sacrificing his own life. although the underlying message has been tackled many times before that an action undertaken by one person is destined to have an unanticipated and drastic influence upon someone el

15、se. the novel can take on a flesh look when combined with eddies “nothing “life which isnt nothing from another perspective in heaven where the painted veil of life is lifted, complete truth is revealed, and thus, you can make sense of your yesterdays and acquire peace of mind which is my understand

16、ing of happiness.eddie, a wounded veteran who had a low opinion of himself, his work and the life he led, attributed his “could have been” life to the war and his father. the war experience darkened his view of life. as described in the story, he thought about telling the third person the bad dreams

17、, the inability to bet excited about anything or in a word, depression. but more than that, eddie held his father accountable for all of the losses: the loss of freedom, the loss of career, and the loss of hope. he is always in the mistaken belief that his father is drunk ,violent and arbitrary. onl

18、y when he meets the third person and be told the complete story, can he get to know the true father who is buried in sealed past events and come to realize the love and the greatness of the father. significantly, he gains insights into the poisonness of anger which was lingering in his mind througho

19、ut his life. “holding anger is a poison. it eats you from inside, we think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. but hatred is a curved blade. and the harm we do, we do to ourselves.” mitch albom, the five people you meet in the heavenyongliu ,looking for a heaven with tribu

20、lationw.s. maughamthe painted veilin light of this, the narrative technique of this story may follow the divine comedys example: you meet a person and he tells you a story. by contrast, however, the divine comedy functions more as warning people to do something or not to do something, while “the” in

21、tends to blur the distinction between the good and the bad. to be specific, albom uncovers the truth behind the misfortune, so its not that easy as before to distinguish fortune from misfortune. as a result, all the grudges, resentments, frustrations and jealousies that once were been born will fina

22、lly disappear.despite the fact that alboms drawn picture of heaven may not fit my perception of afterlife, i can identify with the perspective from the next world to this world to heal the wounds of the latter. as is portrayed in the story, the character eddie is incredibly well-guarded that we lear

23、n very little about him which is similar to his unawareness of the meaning of his life. in heaven, with each meeting, he relives a part of life, beginning with his birthday and using subsequent birthdays along the way to anchor the pivotal moments in his life. at the same time, the clashes of all ki

24、nds of spectacles are organized in a kind of montage so that we readers are able to go through the journey of self-exploration together with eddie. through the five meetings, eddie gets to review his life, find forgiveness, find redemption and find what type of hero he was.this story bears a gentle touch of religious concern. eddie gets the opportunity to be illuminated by five people in the heaven albom builds for h
