7、ation storage and retrieval system, without permission in writing from SABIC.1.0 SCOPEThis method statement is prepared to ensure that the procedure in the excavation or backfilling of concrete structure foundations, and other facilities, conforms to SABIC specifications, approved drawings (Issue fo

8、r Construction) and other related international standards. 2.0REFERENCESThe latest revision of the following project specifications shall be used as references and is part of this method statement in the execution of work.CO2-S01: Site Preparation, Excavation and backfilling Specification3.0DEFINITI

9、ONS3.1 OWNER/PMT: PK/SABIC TCC: China Tianchen Engineering Corporation Limited3.2 Method Statement: A written document that explains the procedure and execution method of excavation / backfilling / compaction work.4.0PROCEDURE4.1 General4.1.1 An open cut type of excavation shall be applied with side

10、 slopes as mentioned below.4.1.2 Shoring and bracing system shall be used whenever required to protect adjacent structure if any, in an excavation site or when the excavation side slope is steeper than mention below.4.1.3 Suitable and appropriate excavator and compacting equipment shall be used to c

13、entire excavation slope shall be as per excavation by SABIC specification (C02-S01). Clearance of 1.0 meter from excavation top edge to barricade shall always be kept. Note: Soil material and equipment shall be kept away from the excavation top edge.4.1.5 All access walkways, Ramps, Stair & Brides s

14、hall be equipped with guard rails. All Walkway crossings shall be equipped with tightly secured uniformly sized planking. There shall always be a safe access way for entry and exit. For excavations that are long, there shall be an access way as per requirements.4.1.6 If unsuitable or unstable ground

19、g recording or by any information storage and retrieval system, without permission in writing from SABIC.4.3 Work procedure4.3.1 Survey4.3.1.1 Verify the detail of excavation according to the latest Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing before the start of the work. Conduct a survey and mark the loc

20、ation and the limits of the area to be excavation. Allowance should be provided to have enough working space between the foundation to be constructed and the edge of the bottom of the excavation for the personnel and forms, bracing and supports to be installed. In marking the excavation limits, cons

21、ideration should also be given for additional area to accommodate side slopes of the excavation.4.3.1.2 Determine the depth of the excavation from the existing ground taking reference from the latest IFC drawing.4.3.1.3 Coordinate with other disciplines involved, to verify any existing service/utili

22、ty lines such as water line, power line and telephone line running through boundaries of excavation.4.3.1.4 All excavation shall be “flagged” off at all times. Those deeper than 1.5 meters shall be “hard barricaded” off as well.4.3.2 Excavation Operation 4.3.2.1 Set up barricades and signboards arou

25、n site.4.3.2.2 Report immediately to PMT any unknown underground installation encountered during excavation. Stop work and wait for further instructions.4.3.2.3 Excavate trial pits where required and as instructed by PMT when existing utility lines or facilities are encountered, to establish the exa

26、ct location. The excavation shall be done manually and carefully in order not to damage the utility lines of facilities.4.3.2.4 Use mechanical excavator whenever possible and if the site condition permits. Excavate manually/mechanically such as backhoe and dump trucks are in use, a trained person sh

27、all be assigned to direct the traffic at the place of work and closely monitor the status of excavation work.4.3.3.6 Barricade shall be placed around the machine operation area.4.3.2.7 Where the excavation site is close to the existing structures, sufficient shoring and bracing system shall be plann

28、ed and then built against the excavation wall to prevent any possible collapses of the excavation slope and damage to the structures. Where the excavation extends below the foundation of existing adjacent structures, well planned and approved measures to protect that structure must be provided.4.3.2

29、.8 Excavate up to the desired level, width and length as required to conform to the latest IFC drawing. 31、ystem, without permission in writing from SABIC.tolerance shall be as per specification. 4.3.2.9 When the desired bottom elevation is reached, level and compact the ground by using an appropriate machine such as roller, jumper or plate compactors up to the required density to conform to the Project

32、Specification requirement.4.3.2.10 The excess of soil shall be temporary storage near the pit for backfilling if these material approved by COMPANY.4.3.2.11 Remove and replace with compacted suitable fill, any sort of contaminated soil, if any, found at excavation bottom.4.3.2.12 Over excavation sha

33、ll be backfilled with lean concrete or with the compacted approved select fill materials.4.3.3 Backfill and compaction4.3.3.1 Backfilling will be done only after the curing time for the cast-in-situ concrete and coating is complete.4.3.3.2 The gradation, plasticity, density and moisture content cont

34、rol tests shall be performed for each type of fill material. Control tests shall include the following: a. One standard sieve analysis in accordance with ASTM C 136 and ASTM D 422. b. One Modified Proctor Test in accordance with ASTM D 1557. c. One liquid and plastic limit determination in accordanc

37、y material or select granular material when required, in uniform horizontal layers not exceeding as follows:a. Structural fill shall be placed in lifts of 200 mm maximum in loose depth. b. General fill shall be placed in lifts of 300 mm maximum in loose depths. c. For hand-operated compaction equipm

38、ent, general and structural fill materials shall be placed in lifts of 150 mm maximum in loose depth.4.3.3.4 Backfilling will proceed symmetrically about the structure, whenever possible to do so.4.3.3.5 Excavation sides slopes will be stepped with each layer to avoid wedging of the fill material be

39、tween the structure and side walls;4.3.3.6 The concrete sides will not be backfilled until the specified coatings are applied and fully cured on the concrete surface.4.3.3.7 The compaction of the backfill will be done at moisture content within 2 %percent of the optimum moisture content4.3.3.8 The w

40、ater for the compaction will be added uniformly. If required, the fill material will be ploughed to uniform water content before compacting. If drying is required, the same will be done by way of natural drying. In case additional dry material is added for drying, care will be taken to see that the
