3、 one leadership development/technical workshop annually. establish better communications links with chapters and among ourselves. agree on regional goals, issues, etc.what has worked chapters are sharing a lot more these days with each other (emails, newsletters and conferences). teleconferences wor

4、k very well for planning and short discussions. some chapters are using these to conduct council business. email has had sporadic success, but is by far our most often used form of communications. we have been successful in having a team member at most all annual chapter meetings when we cant we pro

5、vide a written report. what has worked (cont.) including technical training in our leadership development workshops has been definitely worthwhile. allowing chapters the opportunity to host and plan most of the regional leadership development workshops is a good idea and gets more people involved. r

6、egional representation on swcs committees. including state conservationists on emails about leadership development opportunities has been a plus. working more closely with student chapters has paid off. what hasnt worked so far, we have been unable to plan a joint chapter technical training session.

7、 lots of discussion, but timing and available resources has been an issue. we tried an electronic newsletter feedback from members was that we were being repetitive of chapter notes and other headquarters communications.what hasnt worked (cont.) it has been most difficult to get everyone physically

8、together at any one event especially at the annual conference. the regional committee representatives could be more diligent in following up with the regional team and with their chapter counterparts. strategic planning for this team has been difficult. it has been easier to set goals based on the s

9、ocietys plan!we have issues people are busy these days very busy! we need to better connect the work of the society and the work of the chapters. retention of members remains of concern. ethics issues for federal employees remain complicated. varying levels of support are evident among state and federal conservation agencies. but. “we find no real satisfaction or happ
