Different from the rest the poem which is written in smooth iambic tetrameter lines, the third line of the stanza - “They died” - begins with a “spondee”

13、(two stressed beats in a row) and, after forcing the reader to pause (the dash), continues in a highly irregular rhythm with an intensification of stressed beats.
