2、oan/MIT(Course code: 15.280). Modifications have been made to suit thecontext. This courseintroduces some basic concepts, frameworks, and methodology useful to help you thinkstrategically about communication goals and your communication skills as managers in abusiness settingand throughout the world

3、.Typically, we will use a workshop format that relies heavily on discussion and in-class exercises. 11、ligible to receive grades from this course. Cutting class will adversely affect your class participation grade, and moreimportantly, you owe your classmates experience in the class. If you need to ask for leave from class, please inform the TA before class. If you do have to miss a class, it will be

12、 your responsibility to find from your group mates what you have missed.Arriving on time: arriving at the classroom at least 5 minutes before the class starts is highly appreciated.Share your thoughts and ideas with fellow students and provide candid feedback to others.Minimizing disruptions, such a

13、s side conversations and mobile phone rings. Date: each classJudge: TA-2. Oral Presentations1) Individual speechIn the last session of each class is time for students to make individual speeches ( 3minutes) on topics that happen to you and impressive you. There will be recording so that you can see

14、what you look like in the camera afterwards.Date: class 3-10Grading: 10% of total scoreJudges: 5 students are randomly selectived by TA at each session2) Group presentationDate: Class 12Topic: to be decided by each group Members of Group : 5-7 students Time: 10+5 minutes,Grading: 30% of total scoreG

15、ive a 10-minute presentation to a specific managerial/business audience about a relevant managerial/business topic on your own story/case/experience. When designing the presentation, please use the communication strategy and other relevant skills you learnt in this course in order to achieve the bes

16、t result.Use visual aids prepared in advance to enhance your presentation. Be ready to answer audience questions when you finish speaking. (You may take questions for up to 5 additional minutes.)JudgesThe judge team will be formd by external examers (5 members). They will give comments after each pr

17、esentation and give scores. The Detailed process is: Each judge gives a score and shows right after groups presentation. Then TA calculates the average score given by judge team .Finally scores will be listed and announced in the class by the external judges.Criteria for gradingiiil Global Vision an

We value teamwork.1.Strategy: was your strategy appropriate for your goals, the audience, and the context as you defined them?2.Structure and development: was your structure (direct/indirect) appro

19、priate and easy to follow? Did you provide enough evidence to convince your audience of your main points? Did you use transitions effectively to move from point to point? Did your introduction effectively generate audience interest and provide a preview of the structure?Did yourdrive your point home

20、 and highlight next steps?3.Delivery: was your verbal delivery adequately varied in pitch and pace to maintain interest and free of distracting filler words? Did you sound enthusiastic and show interest in the audiences needs? Was your nonverbal delivery relatively confident, engaging, and effective

21、? Did you use gestures in a way that was comfortable for you and not distracting to the audience? Did you stay within the allotted time?4.Visual aids: did your visual aids enhance the presentation? Did they follow the principles of good design (e.g., were bullet points in a list conceptually and gra

22、mmatically parallel)? Did you use visuals effectively?5.Q & A: Did you answer questions effectively if there are any?RemindingIf you are going to use any visual aids, go to the classroom earlier to get everything ready so that we can start on time. The time wasted on equipment will also be counted i

23、n your presentation time.The timekeeper will give you a signal when you have used 10 minutes. Your presentation will be cut short when time is over.Have rehearsal(s). It will help a lot.3. Writing Assignments1) case discussion and analysis report in class2 cases discussions in the class will be coun

24、t as this form. the group leaders are responsible to give your team member a score based on their contribution in the case discussion .Grading: 7% for each, 14% of the total score.2) Group reportTopic: group report is a written form of group presentation Length: 10 pages with professional managerial

25、 writing skills Grading: 10% of the total scoreDue date: one week after the last classIn this report, please explain to your instructor the three stages of your persuasive group presentation delivered in class 6: before (e.g., why did you choose that particular topic? How you prepared for it?) durin

26、g (e.g., what do you think of the strategy, structure and development, delivery, visual aids and Q&A. of your presentation?) and after presentation (e.g., what would you do in the future to improve your presentation skills?)Remember to use managerial writing skills (e.g. document design) learnt in C

27、lass 3 Managerial Writing when working on this report.ivDo remember to write down names of the group members on the cover page of your report.4.
