对于写作的考查，无非从三个方面进行，分别是：格式、内容、语言。而语言的考查占到了百分之八十左右的权重。在对审题完毕后，明确题干中的任务要点和背景信息，根据语域来大概确定写作文章是正式性的、半正式性的还是非正式性的。如果题目当中只包含一个或两个任务要点，建议考生最好通过what,why,how(是什么，为什么，怎么样)三个角度来进行任务要点的扩展。比如，某教授邀请你参加一个留学生的活动，并向他们做一个关于中国文化的演讲。题目中给出两个任务要点:

一、接受邀请。

二、介绍一下将要做的演讲的要点。或者要求你给校长写封信，提出关于如何提高本校学生体质的建议。这个题目中包含两个任务要点分别是：一.向校长说明你此封信函的目的何在。二.告诉校长具体的措施是什么。以上两个题目都各有两个任务要点，我们建议大家在不跑题的前提下通过是什么，为什么，怎么样的方式把已经给出的任务要点扩展出一个新的任务要点。这样，一般就会有三个任务要点供同学们进行写作。比如，第一道题，可以扩展出我为什么会接受这个活动的邀请。而第二个可以扩展出现在我校学生体质下降的表现。这样，我们就有足够的内容来写够120个词，避免在一个任务要点上写的过多，避免造成内容和语言反面重复，形成车轱辘话。

对于语言表达的具体要求，经过对考研英语写作多年研究，我们总结出：在写作当中，考官希望看到的语法结构包括定语从句、状语从句、非谓语动词做后置定语的表达、强调句型、同位语和插入语。另外，如果内容合适，也可以出现少量虚拟语气或者是倒装句。

信函的正文一般由7-8句话组成，首段一般是1-2句，中间段4-5句，末段2句。在首段，建议考生使用一次定语从句，对写作目的进行修饰。做为信函的脸面，首段往往会受到考官的格外关注，所以加入定语从句成分，有利用考官在短时间内形成该考生具有一定语言功底的认知。而拘泥与五大基础句型则影响了首段的可读性，留下不好的印象。在中间段，考生可以根据自身的情况把状语从句，非谓语动词做后置定语、强调句、同位语和插入语有计划的植入主句当中，给文章增加色彩。

常用的状语从句类型包括让步状语从句、原因状语从句、结果状语从句、比较状语从句、目的状语从句等。状语从句的使用有利于突显文章的逻辑性。而强调句主要的形式为itis+adj/n+that+从句/todo，可以让观点更加鲜明，避免头重脚轻的感觉。非谓语动词做后置定语时，如果所修饰名词为动作的发出者则用现在分词，若所修饰的名词是动词的承受者，则要使用过去分词。插入语和同位语，则可以让句子读起来错落有致，更加地道。
