GuaShaisamovieaboutthedifferencebetweenChineseandAmericanculture.ThestoryhappensinaChinesefamilywholivesinAmerican.ItmainlyrelatedtheheroXuDatong,whoisaChinese,hadstruggledfor8years,triedhardtoassimilateintoAmericanculture,andheasavideogamesdesignerinSt.Louishadagreatsuccessandgothisbosssapprovalandfriendship.Heandhiswife,JianNing,son,Dennis,ledahappylifeinAmerica.Healsobroughthisfatherfromchinatoliveheretogether.

Oneday,Denniswasstomachache,thegrandpausedtheChinesetraditionaltherapytohelphimtoscrapping,namedGuaSha,whichleavesbrightredmarksontheskin.Andthen,onceDennishadanaccidentandwenttothehospital,thedoctorsawthatthescaronhisback,hedoubtsifthechildrenwasabusedathome,sohecalledtheAmericanchildrenprotectioncenter,soitcausesalawsuitofchildabuse.Thereby,thishappyfamilyhappenedaseriesofunfortunate.

Thefilm“GuaSha”isbasedonaChinesetraditionaltreatmentwhichisnotwell-knownbymostforeigners.Indeed,GuaShaisatreatmentintraditionalorientalmedicine,InAsiaitisusuallydonewithacoin,Chinesesoupspoon,sliceofwaterbuffalohorn,orevenasliceofginger.Itneedrepeatedlyscrapesomeacupointinthepatientsskintotreatthepatient’sillness.It’sveryusefultreatmentforpatient.

GuaShaisamovieaboutthedifferencesbetweenChineseCultureandWesternCulture.InAmericanlaw,parentsshouldn’tleavechildaloneandcan’till-treattheirownchildren.Iftheybreakthislaw,parentmaybetakentothepolicestation,orwhat’sworse,theirchildrenwillbeseparatedfromthem.However,thefamilyinthefilmgetsinthistrouble.Theselawsaregoodforchildren’sgrowing-up,buttherulesdon’tworkinChina.InChina,parentshavedutiestolookaftertheirkids,includingbeatthemthemomentchildrendon’tobeytheirwords.InAmerican,it’sillegal,childrenareprotectedbylaws.

Thefilmhasdeepimpressiontome.I’mnotonlyproudoftheextensiveandprofoundChineseculture,butalsomovedfortheChineseoriginalethicalconcept.Inthemovie,itembodiedthatDatongwassofilialtohisfathereverywhere,forexample,forfathergetagreencard,headmittedthatwashimtoGuaShaforhisson,askedhiswifenottotellthethingaboutDennis’slawcasetotheoldmantoavoidhisworried……AndtheheartbetweenDatongandJianNingwasverydeep,thoughtheyquarreledmanytimesforDennis’scase.Thehusband’s

《刮痧》体现的中美文化差异

《刮痧》这部电影讲述的是由刮痧疗法而引起的，华人在美国一系列的矛盾冲突，反映了中美文化的差异。

许大同在美国八年已经取得了一定的成就，事业有成、家庭幸福，后来也把父亲接到美国生活。一次，许大同的儿子丹尼斯发烧肚子痛，爷爷刚来到美国，对药品的说明书也不懂，便使用中国流传已久的刮痧疗法给孙子治病，这便是整个故事的导火线了。后来丹尼斯因为意外而受伤，在医院就诊的时候医生发现了他背部因为刮痧留下来的痕迹，怀疑许大同虐待儿子，便通知了儿童福利局，对丹尼斯进行了监护。后面就是许大同与妻子漫长地夺回儿子的抚养权的过程了。刮痧在中国人的眼中，也算得上一种很正常治疗手法了。但在当时美国人的眼中，这是完全没法理解的事，因为西方人都要讲究实实在在的科学依据。但在中国很多医疗是很难直接用科学来解释的。当大同向别人解释什么是“刮痧”时，连法官都觉得很荒谬，这些不解与误会正是因为中国与美国之间的文化差异。所以对于我们的积极的中国文化，我们也应该对外发扬，让外国人知道这些中国文化的重要性。

电影里面还有很多值得我们去思考的，除了文化上的差异，还有在意识上和观念上也存在着巨大的差异。许大同说他爱美国，说那里是他的家，但他毕竟是在中国出生的，骨子里的中国传统文化已经根斯蒂固，这让他的思维方式没办法做出改变。就比如他在朋友面前体罚自己的孩子，并说是“打是疼骂是爱”；当上司无法理解他而认为他不可理喻时，他随口就说出了“道不同不相为谋”；还有在护士指控他在接产时说“保大人”的时候，他也说出了“留得青山在，不怕没柴烧”的话。可见他的中国传统文化已经在他的思维中根深蒂固了，所以美国人很难理解他的想法与做法，而认为不可理喻，这让他在也受到各种的阻碍。

在影片的后面部分，还是有很多很感人的镜头的。许大同的父亲找到大同的律师朋友，尽管不能用语言来交流，但他很努力地用比划来告诉律师说给丹尼斯刮痧的是他。后来律师自己也去体验了刮痧，他也明白了刮痧这一种疗法。在圣诞节的夜晚，许大同不可以靠近家人，但他对于家人的那份情感，他扮演了圣诞老人爬上了自家的窗户，有惊无险，终于与家人团聚，结局打动了观众。

《刮痧》表现出来的是中国与美国之间的文化差异而导致的冲突，这种文化差异的冲突以后还是会长久的存在的，重要的不是去改变它，而是去理解它。影片也用了很多镜头了表现人与人之间的相互理解。只要有爱，遇到的困难都可以迎刃而解的。
