APECendorsesaproposalforEarlyVoluntarySectoralLiberalization(EVSL)in15sectorsanddecidesthatIndividualActionPlansshouldbeupdatedannually.

APECagreesonthefirstninesectorsforEVSLandseeksanEVSLagreementwithnon-APECmembersattheWorldTradeOrganization.

1999-Auckland,NewZealand

APECcommitstopaperlesstradingby2022indevelopedeconomiesand2022indevelopingeconomies.APECBusinessTravelCardschemeisapprovedandaMutualRecognitionArrangementonElectricalEquipmentandaFrameworkfortheIntegrationofWomeninAPECisendorsed.

APECissuesastrongstatementofsupportforprogressintheWTODohaDevelopmentAgendaandsetsatargetdateforachievingabreakthroughinnegotiations:December2022,theconveningoftheSixthWTOMinisterialConference.APECadoptsBestPracticesforRTAsandFTAs,theSantiagoInitiativeforExpandedTradeandaDataPrivacyFramework.APECreiteratesits“unmistakableresolve“toconfrontthethreatofterrorism,andtakesfurtheractioninthisregardbyidentifyingkeyelementsofeffectiveexportcontrolsystems;establishingguidelinesonthecontrolofman-portableairdefensesystems(MANPADS),andcontinuingtoimplementtheSTARinitiative.APECmakesapoliticalcommitmenttofightcorruptionandensuretransparency,andendorsesaspecificCourseofActiontowardsthisend.

APECadoptstheBusanRoadmap,completestheMid-TermStocktakewhichhasfoundthatAPECiswellonitswaytomeetingtheBogorGoals,andtheAPECPrivacyFramework.Leadersissueastand-alonestatementinsupportofasuccessfulconclusiontotheWTO”s6thMinisterialMeetinginHongKong,Chinaandagreetoconfrontpandemichealththreatsandcontinuetofightagainstterrorismwhichcouldcausedeepeconomicinsecurityfortheregion.
