Askstudentstothinkofthreesituationsintheirlivesthatstartedinthepastandstillcontinue.Tellthemtowritethemdown.Forexample:

Ihaven'tseenmyglasses.

Readthesentencesintheboxasaclassandaskstudentstotellyouwhat"for"and"since"mean.

Askstudentstorewritetheirthreesituations,usingthepresentperfectand"for"or"since",sothattheycantellpeoplehowlongthissituationhasbeenhappening.Forexample,I’velivednearmygrandparentssinceIwasborn./I’vestudiedatthisschoolformanyyears./Ihaven'tseenmyglassessincetheweekend.
