TheiCE40familyofultra-lowpower,non-volatileFPGAshasfivedeviceswithdensitiesrangingfrom384to7680Look-UpTables(LUTs).InadditiontoLUT-based,low-costprogrammablelogic,thesedevicesfeatureEmbeddedBlockRAM(EBR),Non-volatileConfigurationMemory(NVCM)andPhaseLockedLoops(PLLs).Thesefeaturesallowthedevicestobeusedinlow-cost,high-volumeconsumerandsystemapplications.SelectpackagesofferHigh-CurrentdriversthatareidealtodrivethreewhiteLEDs,oroneRGBLED.TheiCE40devicesarefabricatedona40nmCMOSlowpowerprocess.Thedevicearchitecturehasseveralfeaturessuchasprogrammablelow-swingdifferentialI/Osandtheabilitytoturnoffon-chipPLLsdynamically.Thesefeatureshelpmanagestaticanddynamicpowerconsumption,resultinginlowstaticpowerforallmembersofthefamily.

TheiCE40devicesareavailableintwoversions–ultralowpower(LP)andhighperformance(HX)devices.TheiCE40FPGAsareavailableinabroadrangeofadvancedhalogen-freepackagesrangingfromthespacesaving1.40x1.48mmWLCSPtothePCB-friendly20x20mmTQFP.Table1-1showstheLUTdensities,packageandI/Ooptions,alongwithotherkeyparameters.TheiCE40devicesofferenhancedI/Ofeaturessuchaspull-upresistors.Pull-upfeaturesarecontrollableona“per-pin”basis.

TheiCE40devicesalsoprovideflexible,reliableandsecureconfigurationfromon-chipNVCM.ThesedevicescanalsoconfigurethemselvesfromexternalSPIFlashorbeconfiguredbyanexternalmastersuchasaCPU.LatticeprovidesavarietyofdesigntoolsthatallowcomplexdesignstobeefficientlyimplementedusingtheiCE40familyofdevices.PopularlogicsynthesistoolsprovidesynthesislibrarysupportforiCE40.Latticedesigntoolsusethesynthesistooloutputalongwiththeuser-specifiedpreferencesandconstraintstoplaceandroutethedesignintheiCE40device.Thesetoolsextractthetimingfromtheroutingandback-annotateitintothedesignfortimingverification.Latticeprovidesmanypre-engineeredIP(IntellectualProperty)modules,includinganumberofreferencedesigns,licensedfreeofcharge,optimizedfortheiCE40FPGAfamily.ByusingtheseconfigurablesoftcoreIPcoresasstandardizedblocks,usersarefreetoconcentrateontheuniqueaspectsoftheirdesign,increasingtheirproductivity.
