ThisTestSpecification(PV)describesatestmethodfordeterminingplasticandelasticdeformationbehaviorunderdefinedtestconditions.Itmustbeusedforelastomerpartsthatareexposedtoacompressivestressinthefield.

Testduration,testtemperature,andlimit-valuerequirementsareadaptedtotherespectiverequire-ments.Example:

Alwaysusethelatestversionofthisstandard.

Compressthefinished-partspecimensortestsheetsto50%oftheiroriginalthicknessinacentralareaaccordingtothetestsetupdiagram(see
figure3
).Selectanappropriatetestagentthatthepertinentproductwillbeexposedtointypicalapplications.Agethespecimensaccordingly,forex-ample,totestatroomtemperature(23±2)°C,elevatedtemperatures,andtotestfortheeffectsoffluids.Thestandardtestdurationsare22h,46h,and94h.
Topreventthespecimenfromstickingtothetesttool,thespecimenmaybedustedwithtalc.Othermethodsrequiretheagreementoftheappropriatedepartment.
Specimensexposedtoheatagingmustbeacclimatizedat(23±2)°Cbeforethepressureisre-lieved.
Measurethespecimens5safterthepressureisrelieved.
