Introduction

Factorymadebondedsinglepipesystemsfordirectlyburieddistrictcoolingnetworksareofcommontechnicalusage.Inordertoensurequalityincludingproduct-relatedservicelife,toensuresafetyinuse,economicalenergyusageandtofacilitatecomparabilityinthemarket,CEN/TC107decidedtosetupstandardsfortheseproducts.

ThisdocumentisoneofaseriesofstandardswhichformseveralpartsofEN17415,Districtcoolingpipes-Bondedsinglepipesystemsfordirectlyburiedcoldwaternetworks:

1Scope

Thisdocumentspecifiesrequirements,designandtestmethodsforstraightlengthsoffactorymadethermallyinsulatedpipe-in-pipeassembliesfordirectlyburieddistrictcoolingdistributionsystems,comprisingaservicepipefromDN15toDN1200,rigidpolyurethanefoaminsulationandacasingofpolyethylene.Thepipeassemblycanalsoincludethefollowingadditionalelements:measuringwires,spacersanddiffusionbarriers.

Thisdocumentappliesonlytoinsulatedpipeassemblies,forcontinuousoperationwithwateratvarioustemperatures(1to30)℃andamaximumoperationpressureof25bar.

Thedesignisbasedonanexpectedservicelifewithcontinuousoperationofaminimum50years.

Unlessotherwisespecified,therequirementsshallbevalidforeachsinglemeasurement.

ForhighersteelgradesthanthosegiveninTable1theyieldstrengthisdefinedintheirrelatedstandards.Ifsuchhighersteelgradesareusedformediumpipes,itshallbeverifiedthatallcomponentsusedintheinvolvedpartofthesystemarecompatibletothehigheryieldstrengthofthepipes.

Allsteelpipesandcomponentsusedformanufacturingofpipeassembliesunderthescopeofthisdocumentshallasaminimumbedeliveredtothemanufacturerwithaninspectioncertificate3.1accordingtoEN10204.Theinspectioncertificateshallonrequestbepassedontotheclientwhoordersthepipeassemblies.

Incaseamaterialrelatedinspectioncertificate3.1accordingtoEN10204isrequiredbytheclientwhoordersthepipeassemblies,thisrequestshallbegivenwhilstplacingtheorderwiththemanufacturerofthepipeassemblies.

NOTEAnylaterrequestforprovisionofsuchdocumentationcouldbetoolateandpossiblycan'tbemetbythemanufacturer,sincethemanufacturerhastoorganizetheassignmentof3.1certificatestopipesandpartofpipesbeforestartingtheproduction.

Alengthofpipeshallnotincludeacircularweld.

ERWpipessuppliedshallnotincludetheweldsusedtojointogetherthestrippriortoforming.

Diameter

ThediametershallbeinaccordancewithTable2whichisderivedfromEN10220.

Thetolerancesontheoutsidediameter,do,ofthesteelservicepipeatthepipeends,shallbeinaccordancewiththerespectivepipestandardasgiveninTable1.Diametermeasurementsshallbemadeusingacircumferentialtape.Thediametershallbecalculatedastheactualcircumferencedividedbyπ.Outsidediameter,do,168,3mmandsmallermaybemeasuredusingaslidecalliper.

Theout-of-roundnessshallbedeterminedinaccordancewiththerespectivepipestandardasgiveninTable1.

Wallthickness

Thewallthicknesses,t,andmassesshallbeinaccordancewithEN10220withaminimumasindicatedinTable2.

Subjecttodesignconsiderations,otherwallthicknessesmaybeused,butinnocasetheyshallbelessthantheminimaindicatedinTable2.

ThetolerancesonthewallthicknessofthesteelservicepipeshallbeinaccordancewiththerespectivepipestandardasgiveninTable1.

Inordertoensureproperbondingbetweenthesteelservicepipeandthethermalinsulation,thefollowingprocedureshallbefollowed:

a)Priortothermalinsulation,theoutersurfaceofthepipeshallbecleanedsothatitisfreefromrust,millscale,oil,grease,dust,paint,moistureandothercontaminants.

b)Beforecleaningthesteelservicepipe,theoutersurfaceshallcomplywithrustgradeA,BorCaccordingtoENISO8501-1,withoutpitting.

ItisrecommendedtocleanthesurfacetoSa2accordingtoENISO8501-1.

Pipeends

Allsteelservicepipesusedformanufacturingofpipeassembliesshallbedeliveredwithpipeendspreparedforwelding.Forthis,therelevantorderoptioninaccordancewiththerespectivepipestandardasgiveninTable1shallbeagreed.

4.2.2Plasticservicepipes

Specification

Plasticsservicepipesshallbe

—polyethylenepipesPE80orPE100inaccordancewithEN12201-2,oralternatively,

—PP,PB,PE-X,PE-RTormultilayerplasticsservicepipesinaccordancewiththerespectivepipestandardasgiveninEN17414-2.

Alengthofpipeshallnotincludeacircularjoint.

Diameter

ThenominaloutsidediameteranddiametertolerancesofthePEplasticservicepipeshallbeinaccordancewithEN12201-2.

ThenominaloutsidediameteranddiametertolerancesofthePP,PB,PE-X,PE-RTandmultilayerplasticsservicepipeshallbeinaccordancewiththerespectivepipestandardasgiveninEN17414-2.

Wallthickness

ThewallthicknessofthePEplasticservicepipeshallbeinaccordancewithEN12201-2.

Table3definesthemaximumSDRratiosoftheservicepiperequiredtowithstanddifferentoperatingpressures.

ThetoleranceontheactualwallthicknessofthePEplasticservicepipeshallbeinaccordancewithEN12201-2.

ThewallthicknessandthetoleranceontheactualwallthicknessofthePP,PB,PE-X,PE-RTandmultilayerplasticsservicepipeshallbeinaccordancewiththerespectivepipestandardasgiveninEN17414-2.TheSDRnumbersforthePP,PB,PE-X,PE-RTandmultilayerplasticsservicepipesshallbeinaccordancewithEN17414-2.

Surfacecondition

Inordertoensureproperbondingbetweentheplasticservicepipeandthethermalinsulation,thefollowingprocedureshallbefollowed:

Priortoinsulation,theoutersurfaceofthepipeshallbecleanedsothatitisfreefrom,oil,grease,dust,paint,moistureandothercontaminants

Surfacetreatmenttoimprovetheshearstrengthbetweenthethermalinsulationandplasticservicepipeispermissibleprovidedthatthetreatedpipeassemblystillcomplieswiththespecification.

4.3Casing

4.3.1Materialproperties

Materialcomposition

ThecasingmaterialshallbeblackcolouredPEvirginorreworkmaterialcontainingonlythoseanti-oxidants,UV-stabilizersandcarbonblacknecessaryforthemanufactureanduseofpipeassembliestothisspecification.TheblackcolouredPEmaterialtobeextrudedshallbetestedinaccordancewithENISO9080andclassifiedatleastaPE80materialinaccordancewithENISO12162.

ThecasingmaybeaseparatelymanufacturedpipeorbeapplieddirectlyontothePURthermalinsulationbyextrusion.

Thecarbonblackcontentshall,whentestedinaccordancewithISO6964,be(2,0to2,5)%bymass.

NOTETherequiredcarbonblackcontentensuresUVstabilityfortheservicelife.

Thecarbonblackshallbefinelydispersedinthematerial.Whentestedinaccordancewith5.2.3,thefollowingrequirementsshallbemet:

—Carbonblackagglomeratesandparticlesshallbegrade≤3.

—DispersionappearanceratingnotworsethanA1,A2orA3inISO18553.

Meltmass-flowrate

Themeltmass-flowrate(MFR),ing/10min,ofblackPEmaterialsusedforthemanufacturingofcasingsshallliewithin0,2≤MFR≤1,0g/10mindeterminedinaccordancewithENISO1133(allparts),condition5kg,190℃.

BlackcolouredPEmaterialsconformingto

,whichdonotdiffermorethan0,5g/10mininMFR

shallbeconsideredfusibletoeachother.

Thethermalstabilityisdeterminedbyoxygeninductiontime(OIT)oftheblackcolouredPEmaterialandshallbeatleast20minwhentestedat210℃accordingtoENISO11357-6.

Onlyclean,notdegraded,reworkmaterial,generatedfromthemanufacturer'sownproductionofpipesthatdoesnotincludeanyPUinsulationmaterialshallbeused.

Theinternalandexternalsurfacesofthecasingshallbecleanandfreefromsuchgroovingorotherrdefectsthatmightimpairitsfunctionalproperties(see5.2.1).

Thecasingendsshallbecleanlycutandshallbesquarewithin2,5°withtheaxisofthepipe.

SurfacetreatmenttoimprovetheshearstrengthbetweenthePURfoamandcasingispermissibleprovidedthatthetreatedpipeassemblystillcomplieswiththespecification.

Heatreversion

WhentestedinaccordancewithENISO2505,thelongitudinallengthatanypositiononthecasingshallnotchangebymorethan3%.Oninspectionaftertesting,thecasingshallnotshowanyfaults,cracks,cavitiesorblisters.

Whentestedinaccordancewith5.2.4,thetimetofailureshallnotbelessthan300h.

4.4Polyurethane(PUR)foamthermalinsulation

4.4.1Composition

Themanufacturerofthepipeassemblyshallberesponsibleforthechoiceofrawmaterials,compositionandmanufacturingconditions.

Themanufacturershallkeeprecords,documentingtherawmaterialsused,theprescribedmixingratioandthetestsperformed.

TherecordsshalldemonstratethatthePURfoamfromtheproductionofpipeassembliesisofthesamecompositionasthefoamsampleusedforthethermalconductivitytestin5.4.2andmeetstherequirementsof4.4.
