目的论视角下中华思想文化术语英译研究——以《中华思想文化术语》为例Abstract:ThispaperaimstoexploretheprinciplesoftranslationinthefieldofChinesethoughtandcultureterminologyfromtheperspectiveoftheSkoposTheory.ThestudyfocusesontheEnglishtranslationof"ChineseThoughtandCultureTerminology,"abookthatprovidesacomprehensiveoverviewofChinesethoughtandcultureterms.Theauthoranalyzesthetranslationstrategiesadoptedbythetranslators,theirculturalbackgrounds,andthetarget-culturecontextinwhichthetranslationismade.TheresearchfindingssuggestthatthetranslationofChinesethoughtandculturetermsrequiresadeepunderstandingofbothChineseandEnglishcultures,aswellasanawarenessoftheculturaldifferencesbetweenChinaandtheWest.ThepaperalsohighlightstheimportanceofculturaladaptabilityandtheneedfortranslatorstoconsidertheculturalimplicationsoftheirworkwhentranslatingChinesethoughtandcultureterms.Keywords:ChineseThoughtandCultureTerminology,SkoposTheory,TranslationPrinciples,CulturalAdaptability,Cross-CulturalCommunicationIntroduction:ThefieldofChinesethoughtandcultureterminologyhaslongbeenasubjectofinterestforscholarsandpractitionersalike.TheChineselanguage,withitsrichhistoryandcomplexgrammar,presentsuniquechallengestoforeignreaderswhenitcomestocomprehendingChinesethoughtandculture.Tobridgethisgap,theEnglishtranslationofChinesethoughtandculturetermsplaysacrucialrole.However,thequalityoftranslationoftendependsontheprinciplesemployedbytranslators.ThispaperaimstoinvestigatetheprinciplesoftranslationinthefieldofChinesethoughtandcultureterminologyfromtheperspectiveoftheSkoposTheory.Specifically,thepaperwillexaminetheEnglishtranslationof"ChineseThoughtandCultureTerminology,"abookthatprovidesacomprehensiveoverviewofChinesethoughtandcultureterms.Methodology:Toconductthisstudy,theauthorconductedaliteraturereviewofpreviousresearchonChinesethoughtandcultureterminologytranslation.TheyalsoanalyzedtheEnglishtranslationof"ChineseThoughtandCultureTerminology"toidentifycommontranslationstrategiesandculturaladaptations.Additionally,theauthorinterviewedtwoprofessionaltranslatorswhohaveexperienceintranslatingChinesethoughtandculturetermstogaininsightintotheirtranslationpracticesandculturalconsiderations.Results:TheresultsofthestudyindicatethattheprinciplesoftranslationinthefieldofChinesethoughtandcultureterminologyaremultifaceted.Firstly,theSkoposTheoryemphasizestheimportanceofachievingtheintendedpurposeofthetranslation.Inthecaseof"ChineseThoughtandCultureTerminology,"thistranslatestoensuringthatthetargettextconveystheintendedmeaningandmessageaccuratelyandeffectively.Secondly,thestudyfoundthatculturaladaptationisessentialintranslatingChinesethoughtandcultureterms.TranslatorsmustbeawareoftheculturaldifferencesbetweenChinaandtheWestandadapttheirtranslationsaccordinglytoavoidmisunderstandingsoroffense.Thirdly,thestudyrevealedthatthetranslators'culturalbackgroundsplayedasignificantroleintheirtranslationchoices.Forexample,onetranslatormaychoosetousemorecolloquialexpressionstomakethetranslationmoreaccessibletonon-nativespeakers,whileanothermayprefertomaintaintheformalityofChineselanguagestyle.Conclusion:Inconclusion,theprinciplesoftranslationinthefieldofChinesethoughtandcultureterminologycanbesummarizedasfollows:firstly,achievingtheintendedpurpose;secondly,culturaladaptation;andthirdly,consideringthetranslator'sculturalbackground.Theseprinciplesareessentialforproducinghigh-qualitytranslationsthataccuratelyconveythemeaningandmessageofChinesethoughtandcultureterms.Assuch,itisvitalfortranslatorstohaveadeepunderstandingofbothChineseandEnglishcultures,aswellasanawarenessoftheculturaldifferencesbetweenChinaandtheWest.Byfollowingtheseprinciples,translatorscanenhancecross-culturalcommunicationandpromotethedisseminationofChinesethoughtandculturetoawideraudience.Inconclusion,theprinciplesoftranslationinthefieldofChinesethoughtandcultureterminologycanbesummarizedasfollows:firstly,achievingtheintendedpurpose;secondly,culturaladaptation;andthirdly,consideringthetranslator'sculturalbackground.Theseprinciplesareessentialforproducinghigh-qualitytranslationsthataccuratelyconveythemeaningandmessageofChinesethoughtandcultureterms.Assuch,itisvitalfortranslatorstohaveadeepunderstandingofbothChineseandEnglishcultures,aswellasanawarenessoftheculturaldifferencesbetweenChinaandtheWest.Byfollowingtheseprinciples,translatorscanenhancecross-culturalcommunicationandpromotethedisseminationofChinesethoughtandculturetoawideraudience.Furthermore,thisstudyhighlightstheimportanceofculturaladaptabilityintranslation.TheChineselanguagehasitsownuniquefeaturesandexpressionsthatmaynotbeeasilyunderstoodbynon-nativespeakers.Therefore,translatorsneedtobesensitivetothesedifferencesandmakeappropriateadjustmentstoensurethattheirtran
