Statisticalconceptsandmethodsarenotonlyusefulbutindeedoftenindispensableinunderstandingtheworldaroundus.Theyprovidewaysofgainingnewinsightsintothebehaviorofmanyphenomenathatyouwillencounterinyourchosenfieldofspecializationonengineeringorscience.Theprobability&statisticsisascienceofstudyingstatisticlawofrandomphenomena.Thisscienceisgeneratedfrom17thcentury,comesofgamblingandisappliedingambling.Butnowitisthefoundationofmanysciences,forexample,computerscience,informationscience,communicationengineering,controlscience,decisiontheory,gametheory,econometrics,etc.1314Engineersandscientistsareconstantlyexposedtocollectionsoffacts,ordata,bothintheirprofessionalcapacitiesandineverydayactivities.Thedisciplineofstatisticsprovidesmethodsfororganizingandsummarizingdata,andfordrawingconclusionsbasedoninformationcontainedonthedata.Apopulation(总体)——
