“英语学习活动观”视域下高中英语阅读教学现状的调查研究Introduction:Intherealmofeducation,theimportanceoflanguagelearningcannotbeoverstated.Amongalllanguages,Englishhasbecomeagloballinguafranca,withitssignificancenotonlyinacademicsbutalsoinbusinessanddiplomacy.Assuch,highschoolstudentsareoftenexposedtoanarrayofreadingmaterialsthatrangefromtextbookstonewspaperstoliteraryworks.However,theeffectivenessofthesereadingactivitiesisoftenunderminedbyalackofengagementandmotivationamongstudents.ThispaperaimstoinvestigatethecurrentstateofhighschoolEnglishreadingcomprehensionteachingwithinthecontextofEnglishlearningactivitiesview.Methodology:Toconductthisresearch,amixed-methodsapproachwasadopted,combiningbothquantitativeandqualitativedatacollectiontechniques.Asurveyquestionnairewasadministeredtoasampleofhighschoolstudentsacrossdifferentgradelevelstogatherinformationontheirreadinghabits,preferences,andattitudestowardsreadingactivities.Additionally,semi-structuredinterviewswereconductedwithasubsetofteacherstogaininsightsintotheirperceptionsofthecurrentreadinginstructionalpracticesandtoexplorepotentialimprovements.Findings:Theresultsofthesurveyrevealedthatwhilesomestudentsengageactivelyinreadingactivities,manyothersremainpassiveobservers.Studentsreportedfeelingoverwhelmedbythecomplexityoftextsandfindingitdifficulttoconnectthematerialtotheirpersonalexperiencesorinterests.Thefindingsalsoindicatedthatthetraditionalreadinginstructionmodel,whichemphasizesrotememorizationanddecontextualizedvocabularyacquisition,doesnoteffectivelyfosterstudents'readingskills.Interviewswithteachersfurtherhighlightedthechallengesfacedinimplementingeffectivereadinginstruction.Manyteachersexpressedconcernsaboutthelimitedresourcesavailableforreadingmaterialsandtheneedformorepersonalizedapproachestocatertoindividuallearningneeds.Theyalsonotedalackoftimededicatedtoreadingactivities,whichtheyattributedtoheavycourseworkloadsandthepressuretoachievehighacademicstandards.Discussion:Thefindingsofthisstudyraiseseveralquestionsabouttheeffectivenessofcurrentreadinginstructionpracticesinhighschools.Whilethereisundoubtedlyaneedforimprovement,itiscrucialtoconsiderthemultifacetednatureoflanguagelearning.Incorporatinginteractiveandexperientialelementsintoreadinginstructioncanpotentiallyenhancestudents'engagementandmotivation.Forinstance,incorporatingstorytelling,groupdiscussions,andothercollaborativeactivitiescancreateamoredynamiclearningenvironmentthatencouragesactiveparticipationandcriticalthinking.Additionally,theintegrationoftechnology-basedtools,suchasdigitaltextbooksandonlinereadingplatforms,canprovidestudentswithaccesstoawiderrangeofresourcesandfacilitateself-pacedlearning.Moreover,promotingculturalawarenessthroughreadingcanbroadenstudents'perspectivesandenhancetheirabilitytoconnecttextstoreal-worldexperiences.Conclusion:Inconclusion,thecurrentstateofhighschoolEnglishreadingcomprehensionteachingisfarfromsatisfactory.Whilethereisagrowingrecognitionoftheimportanceofreadinginlanguagelearning,theadoptionofeffectiveteachingstrategiesremainselusive.Byadoptingamorestudent-centeredapproach,integratingtechnologyandculturalawarenessintoreadinginstruction,andfosteringamoresupportivelearningenvironment,educatorscansignificantlyimprovethequalityofreadinginstructioninhighschools.Inconclusion,thecurrentstateofhighschoolEnglishreadingcomprehensionteachingisfarfromsatisfactory.Whilethereisagrowingrecognitionoftheimportanceofreadinginlanguagelearning,theadoptionofeffectiveteachingstrategiesremainselusive.Byadoptingamorestudent-centeredapproach,integratingtechnologyandculturalawarenessintoreadinginstruction,andfosteringamoresupportivelearningenvironment,educatorscansignificantlyimprovethequalityofreadinginstructioninhighschools.Furthermore,itisessentialtorecognizethatindividualdifferencesinlearningstylesandpreferencesplayasignificantroleinshapingstudents'engagementwithreadingactivities.Therefore,teachersshouldbeencouragedtoexploreinnovativeteachingmethodsthatcatertodiverselearningneeds,suchasdifferentiatedinstructionorpersonalizedlearningplans.Finally,theimportanceofcollaborationandcommunityinvolvementcannotbeoverstated.Encouragingstudentstoreadandsharetheirexperienceswithpeersandpar
