DepartmentofEducation

Tosupportthedevelopmentofliterate,skilledYukonlearnersandworkersinamannerconsistentwiththeYukonEducationActandotherrelevantlegislation.Thiswillbeachievedbydeveloping,providing,supporting,orimplementingprogramsandinitiativesintheareasofessentialskillsdevelopment,post-secondaryeducation,andlabourmarketdevelopmentincooperationwithpartnersandstakeholders.

DeputyMinister’soffice

Providesexecutivemanagementanddirectionforthedepartment.

EducationSupportServices

Toprovidedepartmentalbrancheswithsupportservicesinfinance,humanresources,communications,informationtechnology,andpolicydevelopment.

Toprovideforfacilitymanagement,materielmanagement,andstudenttransportationservices.

CommunityRelations&Engagement

Responsibleforcommunicationsandrelationshipbuildingsupportforworkwithourpartnersineducation,parents,students,thepublic,andthemedia.WorkincludesliaisingwithandsupportingSchoolCouncils,strategiccommunicationsplanning,mediarelations,websitemanagement,issuesmanagement,advertising,andpublications.

FinanceandAdministration

Responsibleforbudgeting,financialreporting,andoversightofdepartmentspending.

HumanResourceServices

Responsibleforhiringandhumanresourcemanagementthroughoutthedepartment,includingallteachingandschool-basedstaff.

Operations

Responsibleforfacilitiesplanningandmaintenance,healthandsafety,environmentalstewardship,andsupportforschoolbusing.

Policy,PlanningandEvaluation

OverseespolicydevelopmentforthedepartmentandcoordinatingmanyYukongovernmentcorporateandinter-departmentalinitiatives.ProvideslegislativesupportservicesincludingMinisterialbriefingmaterials,monitoringandfollow-uponissuesraisedduringQuestionPeriod,etc.ResponsiblefordepartmentalrecordsandfulfillsdepartmentobligationsundertheATIPPAct.Alsoresponsibleforprovidingprogramevaluationserviceswithinthedepartment.

PublicSchools

Toprovidetheresourcesneededforknowledgeandskilldevelopmenttosupportlife-longlearningforallYukonschoolagechildren.

FirstNationsProgramsandPartnerships

FocusesonbuildingproductiverelationshipswithYukonFirstNations;toimprovetheresultsofFirstNationstudentsintheK-12system;toworktowardincreasedlevelsofculturalinclusioninYukonschools;andtoprovidesupporttoYukonFirstNations,schools,andthedepartment.

FrenchPrograms

ProvidesK-12curriculum,assessment,andculturalsupportforYukonschools'FrenchSecondLanguageprograms(FrenchImmersion,IntensiveFrench,CoreFrench,Frenchmonitors,etc.).

InformationTechnologySupportServices

Supportsandmaintainsallthedepartment'stechnology(hardware,networks,systems,security,etc.),includingforYukonschools.

LearningSupportServices

ProvidesK-12curriculumandassessmentsupportandtrainingforYukoneducatorsandschools.

StudentInformationandTechnology

ProvidessupportandcurriculumresourcesandmaterialsandleadstheuseoftechnologyinYukonschoolstoenhancelearning.

StudentSupportServices

Deliversservicestostudentswithspecialneeds.Consultantsworktodevelopstudentpotentialindiverseareassuchasspeechandlanguage,hearing,vision,socialandemotional,andphysicalandworkingskills.Alsoprovidessupportforhomeschoolingandliteracyinterventions.

AdvancedEducation

Topromoteandsupportadulttraining,essentialskillsdevelopment,post-secondaryeducation,andlabourforcedevelopment,includingimmigration.

Immigration

AdministerstheSkilledWorkerandCriticalImpactWorkercategoriesoftheYukonNomineeProgram,aswellastheYukonBusinessNomineeProgram.

LabourMarketProgramsandServices

Deliversseverallabourmarketfundingprograms,includingtheLabourMarketDevelopmentAgreement,LabourMarketAgreement,andtheCommunityTrainingFunds.ThesefundingprogramssupporttrainingandenableYukonworkerstofindandmaintainemployment.AlsoresponsibleforfundingAdultLiteracyandLabourMobilitycompliance.

TrainingPrograms

Administersavarietyofprogramstohelpsupportpost-secondaryeducation,includingtheYukonGrant,StudentTrainingAllowance,YukonExcellenceAwards,CanadaStudentLoansandGrants,andavarietyofscholarships.AlsoprovidesprogramsforthetrainingandcertificationofapprenticesandtradesworkersinYukonandadminister
