3、rist Church College.,INTRODUCTION OF WRITERS,The story centers on Alice, a young girl who fell asleep in a meadow（草地）when reading a book with her sister.,Suddenly she saw a Rabbitactually took a watch out of its waistcoat(背心)- pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to herfeet,

4、for she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, ora watch to take out of it,and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and fortunately was justin time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge（树篱）.Without hesitation, she followed the White Rabb

5、it down the hole,Alice was not a bit hurt, and she jumped up on to her feet in a moment. In the hole, she a low curtain, and behind itwas a little door about fifteen inches high, which could fit the small key on the table nearby. Looking out of the garden, there was a path leading to a beautiful gar

However, she was too large to go through the door.,There seemed to be no use in waiting by the little door, so she went back to thetable, half hoping she might find another key on it. this time she found a little bottle on it, (which certainly was not here before, said Alice,) andround the neck

7、 of the bottle was a paper label, with the words DRINK ME beautifully printed on it in largeletters.,She drunk it. To her surprise, she became smaller and smaller, and only 10-inch length at last. She was so happy till suddenly she realized that the key was still on the table, and she couldnt get it

8、.,Soon her eye fell on a little glass box that was lying under the table: she opened it, and found in it a verysmall cake, on which the words EAT ME were beautifully marked in currants. She ate it and became larger than ever. This time she couldnt leave the hole again. She cried and cried that there

9、 was 4 inches tears in the hole.,At this time, the white rabbit came again. Frightened by Alice, he fled soon, leaving a fan and a glove in the whole. Alice picked them up, finding her herself becoming small again, only 2 inches high. This time, she was flooded by her tears. She met many animals in

10、the water, such as a mouse, a bird called Dodo. All of them could speak. They held a long-run game to make themselves dry.,Then she saw a wooden house in the front of her. Entering into the house, she heard the rabbits voice and knew that it was his room. Found by him, Alice fled the room. On the wa

11、y to the garden, she met a dog, a Caterpillar(毛毛虫),a Duchess and a cat who invited her to a mad tea party. At the party, there were some friends she made: a march rabbit and a mad hatter. The mad tea party was a popular plots in the novel.,After the party, she saw a door in the tree. And then she fo

12、und the beautiful garden finally. There, Alice saw some play cards. The king and queen of hearts were playing croquet-ground(缒球). Alice was shocked when the queen said “Offwith her head!” But actually, she didnt cut off anyones head.,The story ended with the last two chapters “Who Stole the Tarts(馅饼

13、)?” and “Alices Evidence”. The king and queen made a jury trial to find out who had stolen the tarts. The trial was nonsense that Alice couldnt even stand. She disobeyed the queen, who then ordered soldiers to cut off her head. seeing a lot of cards attacking towards her, she was waked up by her sis

14、ter. It was just a dream.,Perhaps you wonders why the plots are not what you have seen in the film before. Because the movie “Alice in wonderland” was not adapted from this novel completely. The movie was set when Alice grew up and went into the hole the second time and she had forgotten entering it before. Some characters were the same both in the movie
