TEAMS ROLE IN THE EXPULSION PROCESSSchool Site IEP MeetingsOngoing Behavior ProblemsCrisis Behavior School Site IEP Team The IEP Team develops and implements a develops new IEP “Process for Assessing and Analyzing Behavior”. This may involve several I.E.P. meetings. When attempts to alter/ change behavior fail. . IEP MeetingPreexpulsion IEP Meeting(at Student Services/CWA) If both are No 1) Was the misconduct caused by or a direct (If either is manifestation of the pupils indentified Yes) handicap? Yes 2) Was the student appropriately placed at the time this misconduct occurred? Yes Stopped Expulsion Administrative Hearing Panel l Return to School Site l Place on home instruction l Send to another school l Send to Alternative Ed. Program Proceeds to Expulsion Board or EducationSchool-Site I.E.P. Team Reviews/develops I.E.P. Post Expulsion I.E.P. Meeting (at Student Services/CW Expelled Not Expelled IEP MeetingFONTANA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT/SELPAEXPULSION PROCESS CHECKLISTSchool Site IEP Meetings for Ongoing Behavior Problemsq IEP Team has met and documented through FUSD/SELPA paperwork attempts to redirect inappropriate behaviors.q “Process for Assessing and Analyzing Behaviors (PAAB) Plan” has been developed, implemented and reviewed. Each time a copy of the plan and FS-IEP-2 is written and sent to the District/SELPA. PBI (Positive Behavior Intervention) (Hughes Bill) requirement as appropriate.Ed. Code Violations Resulting in a Recommended Expulsionq Site Administrator notifies case carrier and psychologist. Proceed directly to Pre-Expulsion Assessment.Pre-Expulsion IEP Meeting (held at Student Services/CWA)q Pre-Expulsion IEP documents that the two critical questions have been addressed.1) Was the misconduct caused by or a direct manifestation of the pupils identified handicap?2) Was the student appropriately placed at the time the misconduct occurred?q The IEP (including goals/objectives) is current, appropriate to cover the period prior to school board action. (Goals and objectives/service can be addressed in pre-expulsion IEP placement).q The IEP is valid and appropriate for the length of time1) of the Administrative Hearing Panels placement decision OR2) of projected board meeting scheduled for the post-expulsion IEP meeting. Stopped Expulsion - sending school site psychologist notified. A new IEP meeting is held by sending school as appropriate. Goals and objectives can be addressed in the recommended placement.Post-Expulsion IEP meeting (held at Student Services/CWA)q When the Administrative Hearing Panel moves forward and refers the student for expulsion, a post-expulsion IEP meeting is held to:1) Address how services will be provided during the time of expulsion and/or alternative placement2) Write a valid and appropriate IEP for the duration.
