专业八级考试范文(雅思写作也可以借鉴)One Major Problem in the Process of Urbanization Controversial as it is, urbanization has emerged as an irresistible forcein present-day society. When we come to the characteristics of urbanization, three factors suggest themselves, namely, fierce competition, widely used high technology and advanced infrastructure. These three productions of the trend contribut to one major problem in the process of urbanization - diminishing of human communication. To begin with, vigorous competition ensues from the process of urbanization, which highlights efficiency and speed. Thats why Bill Gates has pointed out time and again that speed is the key issue to success in todays society. In order to keep pace with the ever-changing society, we have no choice but exert ourselves with the sole purpose to outperform others. Consequently, people are encumbered their own by piles of tasks, and gradually interpersonal barriers are set up. Secondly, these who see urbanization as benevolent argue that it is the ultimate cause of the improvement of living standard, and hence is noteworthy. I personally cannot agree in this perspective. There is no denying that state-of-the-art equipment and newly-invented household appliances do greatly facilitate peoples life. However, we are not entitled to turn a blind eye to their potential harms. Jst take email as an example. E-mail, characterized by its convenience, do have an advantage over traditional means of communication, such as telephone conference or face-to-face discussion, which is easily interrupted by unpredictable incident. But when faced with the emails-make-everything-fine trend, we cannot help asking, Is email really the perfect substitution? Can email demonstrate its writers emotion and feelings? Is it likely that people lose the ability to exchange views orally, which is regarded as a key ability distincting humans from other animals? Thirdly, urbanization propels the development of infrastructure. This should be something we are glad to see. However, it is more and more urgently felt that such improvements somewhat work against interpersonal communication. When we tend to take a taxi instead of a bus, we communicate with the only one taxi driver, losing the chance to meet different passengers. And when are used to shopping at well-supplied supermarkets, we find ourselves missing the pleasure of chatting with neighbors in the neighborhood stores, to name just a few. In short, urbanization is a two-edged sword. When enjoying the convenience it brought about, wed better reflect on its problems and try to work out the solution. On
