必修3Unit 1 Festivals around the world李仕才一、阅读理解AAfter the earthquake had stopped, when the rescuers reached the ruins of a young womans house, they saw her dead body through the cracks. But her pose was somehow strange that she knelt on her knees like a person was worshipping(礼拜); her body was leaning forward, and her two hands were supported by an object. The collapsed house had crashed her back and her head. With so many difficulties, the leader of the rescue team put his hand through a narrow gap on the wall to reach the womans body. He was hoping that this woman could be still alive. However, the cold and stiff body told him that she had passed away for sure. He and the rest of the team left this house and were going to search the next collapsed building. For some reasons, the team leader was driven by a compelling force to go back to the ruined house of the dead woman. Again, he knelt down and used his hand through the narrow cracks to search the little space under the dead body. Suddenly, he screamed with excitement,“A child! There is a child!” The whole team worked together; carefully they removed the piles of ruined objects around the dead woman. There was a 3monthold little boy wrapped in a flowery blanket under his mothers dead body. Obviously, the woman had made a sacrifice for saving her son. When her house was falling, she used her body to make a cover to protect her son. The little boy was still sleeping peacefully when the team leader picked him up. The medical doctor came quickly to examine the little boy. After he opened the blanket, he saw a cell phone. There was a text message on the screen. It said, “If you can survive, you must remember that I love you.” This cell phone was passed around from one hand to another. Everybody that read the message wept. “If you can survive, you must remember that I love you.” Such is the mothers love for her child!【文章大意】本文是一篇记叙文。 1. Some people said it was an expected thing while others asked: Why now? What will you do?For me, making the move to Israel is the fulfillment of a dream that has lasted for my 47 years of life. I have always known that Israel is my home. Over the years Israel has been in my heart, but I have found a number of reasons to put off making it my permanent residence: kids, the economy, education.you name an excuse, and at some point I have probably used it.Truthfully, I believe that I was always just a little bit scared. And of course I still am, with the fear factor that is reported by the press surrounding the Israeli military and economy. However, it has come to the point when I have realized that for over 2 000 years we yearned for this land, and for 47 years I have denied the opportunity to make it my home. I am finally ready to fully grasp this opportunity.Over the years, I have always loved visiting Israel. I have traveled there with my family, and enjoyed introducing thousands of travelers to the country. All of these things that I have come to love about Israel as a tourist are because I get to love my home. And as far as waiting for the perfect condition under which to make aliyah, I believe the time is now!I have been asked many times if I am nervous about moving to Israel. Before I answer, I remember that we have overcome the Greeks, the Romans, the Russian killings, Hitler and the Holocaust(大屠杀), and the armies of seven countries. How can I not feel confident that I, and my family, will overcome any difficulties that may come our way? I am not worrying, complaining, crying, or fearing as I prepare to make aliyah. I am proud and excited to say that I am fulfilling a 47-year-old dream; I am going home.1.What does the author want to say in the passage?A. His dream is to come true after 47 years.B. It is a dilemma for him to return to Israel.C. He didnt live a happy life in Israel.D. It is a latest trend to fulfill everyones dream.2.The author didnt return to Israel before because .A. his children mainly held him backB. he failed to get determinedC. he didnt save enough moneyD. he hoped to finish his education3.What does the underlined part make aliyah mean in the passage?A. To return to Israel.B. To make a decision.C. To live happily.D. To catch a chance.4.It can be inferred from the passage that .A. the author will be happy to meet his relatives in IsraelB. Israel is a familiar word but a strange place for the authorC. the Israeli suffered a lot in the historyD. Israel is still a place between war and chaos【文章大意】本文是一篇讲述个人经历的记叙文。 I believe the time is now以及最后一段中的as I prepare to make aliyah可知画线部分指的是回到家乡以色列。 依据倒数第二段中的we have overcome the Greeks, the Romans, the Russian killings, Hitler and the Holocaust(大屠杀). How to run international meetingsAs more of us do business across cultures, its best to prepare ahead of time before heading to the meeting table. Here are four rules for different countries.Stick to the scheduleWhere:Germany,Austria,Japan Weve all been to meetings that have a loose agenda,if any at all. They dont start on time and they seem to repeat. 1 Japanese are more likely to create a detailed agenda and pass out supporting documents several days before a meeting. 2 Meetings that run long in Germany are often taken to mean that the parties are not communicating efficiently. 3 Where:China,Malaysia,SingaporeDebating a topic can go against the traditional Chinese concept of“saving face”,which means avoiding any mistakes or actions that could bring embarrassment.Laughing at even an obviously amusing answer or pointing out a potential mistake can spoil the entire meeting.Enjoy the interruptionsWhere:Italy,France,SpainWhen Pascal Soboll meets with clients in Italy or Spain, hes no longer offended if they leave early or arrive late.Rather than attend the entire threehour meeting,he has learned that his colleagues thereand in some parts of Franceattend based on their own timetable. 4 Rather than expect people to sit through his entire presentation,he makes it easier for them to turn up as needed. Please,no small talkWhere:Finland,SwedenIn places like Finland and Sweden, where nonmeeting related discussions like chat about the weather can be regarded as a way to be off a formallyset agenda and as a waste of other peoples time.In some countries, including Finland, there are long pauses in the conversation. 5 These breaks are used as a way to process what the other person is saying without interrupting.ANot so in these countries.BGermans and Austrians are similar.CDont even think about a brainstorm.DTheres often no way to tell how things are going.EDont try to fill them, though, with small talk or anything else.FWhat do the long silences, idle chitchat and serious faces really mean in context?GFor Soboll, that means changing his own Germanbased expectations of client behaviour.【语篇解读】本文是一篇说明文。 1A空处前两句介绍了常见的会议情况:时间安排松散,开会不准时,总是重复;结合空后的“Japanese are more likely to create a detailed agenda and pass out supporting documents several days before a meeting.” 2B根据该部分中的“where:Germany,Austria,Japan”可知,该部分主要介绍德国、奥地利和日本的开会习惯;空前一句已经介绍了日本的情况,结合空后一句“Meetings that run long in Germany are often. efficiently.” 和“Rather than. attend based on their own timetable.” 5E根据该部分标题“Please,no small talk”和空前的“there are long pauses in the conversation”可知,选E项,E项中的“them”与“long pauses”对应。 It is clear shown that many middle school students have physical and mental problems.68% of the students surveying have studying anxiety as well as poor eyesight too.And a larger percentage lacks sleep. 52% are short of physical exercise.42% of the students wont obey our parents or teachers.Personally,I think we student should balance our physical exercise and studies.Without sound body, one cant achieve anything. However, too much attention has been paid only on studies. As a result,I suggest we are given less homework or more time for outofclassroom activities.Only in this way can we live a happy and healthy life.【答案】It is shown that many middle school students have physical and mental problems.68% of the students have studying anxiety as well as poor eyesight .And a larger percentage sleep. 52% are short of physical exercise.42% of the students wont obey parents or teachers.Personally,I think we should balance our physical exercise and studies.Without sound body, one cant achieve anything. However, too much attention has been paid only studies. As a result,I suggest we given less homework more time for outofclassroom activities.Only in this way can we live a happy and healthy life. 句中已经有as well as表示“也”了,故句尾的too是多余的。
