Little did they know they were going to be students for a new teaching method that is spreading the nation.I often use videos as previews and supplements (补充) to our art lessons providing students with a variety of artists showing their skills in reallife situations outside the classroom. Finding a new painting technique called glue batik(胶水蜡染), I thought of something new I hadnt tried before! How awesome would it be to learn a new technique together with artists? The lesson was planned, presented to the students without any introduction or set objectives. I also asked the students to watch and pause the video as often as they needed to.They watched as the artist explained and showed her skills, taking notes on her steps and results. After the video, they shared what they felt the artists objectives were, her end result using art vocabulary as well as the steps they would need to know to present their own examples. Then they began creating their works using the glue batik technique.Surfing the Internet a couple of weeks later, I found that the teaching method I used sounded very familiar to a new movement in education called flipped teaching, which was developed by Jonathan Bergmann. He asked his students to watch video lectures at home and do exercises (homework) in class under supervision (监督). He found that grades went up and he also found time for other types of activities, which Bergmann states are more important than the videos.Back to my art class, the students were learning to get ideas, make predictions, and explain reasoning to their classmates. Together they compared, asked questions and made discoveries as they presented the technique.1. Which of the following is one of the benefits of flipped teaching?A. Teachers neednt check students homework.B. Students can control their own learning pace.C. Students can choose whatever they want to learn.D. Teachers can develop their own teaching methods.2. Who plays a central role in the flipped teaching?A. The artist.B. The parent.C. The teacher.D. The student.3. What is the best title for the text?A. The flipped teaching I used in art classB. Jonathan Bergmanns flipped teachingC. A teaching method spreading the nationD. The lesson was planned, presented to the students without any introduction or set objectives. I also asked the students to watch and pause the video as often as they needed to.还有最后一段话Back to my art class, the students were learning to get ideas, make predictions, and explain reasoning to their classmates. Together they compared, asked questions and made discoveries as they presented the technique. BLiving a healthy lifestyle lies in forming the right eating habits. Here are some of the good habits you can develop when it comes to healthy eating.Drink plenty of water. You must drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.You may need even more water if you are in a hot environment or if you are exercising.Eat breakfast.Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.A recent study has shown that those who eat breakfast will consume an average of 100 calories less during the day than their colleagues (同事) who skip breakfast. They will also be able to concentrate better.Dont skip lunch. If you do so,your blood sugar level will drop and your metabolism (新陈代谢) will slow down. When you get home you are starving and eat everything you can find.We all need to snack from time to time, but please choose your snacks carefully. In fact, its a good idea to eat two healthy snacks besides your three main meals.Choose healthy snacks like fruits, low fat yogurt, cottage cheese with apple sauce.Eat your fruits and vegetables. We should eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day.Take a piece of fruit for a snack, add some bananas and raisins to your favourite breakfast cereal (谷类食品),have a salad for lunch, and eat at least one vegetable at dinner each night.Do not eat your dinner too late.Try to eat dinner at least 3 hours before you go to bed. This will give your body a chance to digest most of the food before you rest for the next 8 hours.Plan dinner for the week ahead of time and make sure you have everything you need in the house so other family members can get a head start on dinner if school, but in many schools, parents can choose what their children eat.The children can have a school luncha hot, cooked meal;or they can take a packed lunch with them, which usually includes cold food like sandwiches.Often parents prepare lunches on_the_basis_of what their children want.Cathy,a mother of three children, told us,“My children have packed lunches, because they say they hate school dinners.I make 3 packed lunches every morning,so were like a sandwich bar in our kitchen in the morning.” However, another mother,Susan, made her choice based on the nutritious value of the food. She said,“My daughter always has school dinners.I think she probably gets healthier food by having a cooked lunch at school than she would if I made sandwiches.”But how healthy are school dinners?Kaz,a father, wasnt impressed with them.“Fizzy (有泡沫的) drinks were offered and I think there were a lot of chips.”The question of how healthy school food is was brought to Jamie Oliver, who launched a campaign to improve childrens nutrition, after spending a year working in a school kitchen. The TV series about the campaign won an award this week.He was horrified (惊恐的) at the junk food he saw being served, which included burgers, pizza and chips. He decided to ban the junk, and started cooking good stews (炖菜) and curries for the children instead.Jamie improved the school dinners in that particular school, and trained the dinner ladies to cook healthy food. Then he put pressure on the government to improve the standards of school food across the country. And it looks as if the changes have
