课时跟踪练(一) Warming Up & Reading Pre reading. AIn the year 2015, Jennifer Lawrence topped the Forbes list of the highestpaid actresses. She gave her final performance as Katniss Everdeen, in Mockingjay Part 2, the last film of the Hunger Games series. In it, she teams up with Peeta and Gale to save the nation of Panem during a war with the Capitols corrupt (腐败的) government. The world has watched Lawrence grow up on screen over the years of the series. “I love being part of a film that can spark conversation,” Lawrence says. “Its been such an amazing part in my life.”The Oscarwinner has also sparked conversation as an advocate (提倡者) for equal pay for women and men in her industry. Earlier in the year, she found that she was paid less for acting in the movie American Hustle than her male costars, so she wrote an article online about the pay gap in Hollywood, titled “Why Do I Make Less Than My Male CoStars?” Because what she wrote went public, other actresses also came out for higher pay.Born on August 15,1990, Lawrence grew up in Kentucky with her parents and two elder brothers. She says they helped her develop her sense of humor. At just 19 years old, she was nominated (提名) for her first Oscar for her role in the film Winters Bone.Throughout her career, Lawrence has also worked to try to promote (宣传) healthy body images. When she took on the role of Katniss in the Hunger Games series, she refused to appear unhealthy on camera. Though the book, written by Suzanne Collins, describes Katniss as very thin, Lawrence did not try to look like that in the movie. Jennifer Lawrence。1Whats Lawrences purpose of writing the article online?ATo help increase womens pay in her industry.BTo show that she has been unfairly treated.CTo draw peoples attention to her movie.DTo make actors receive lower pay. 2Lawrence was nominated for her first Oscar because of _.AAmerican HustleBWinters BoneCMockingjay Part 2 Dthe Hunger Games series解析:选B细节理解题。根据第三段中的“At just 19 years old, she was nominated (提名) for her first Oscar for her role in the film Winters Bone.” B。3After taking on the role of Katniss, Lawrence decided to _.Alose some weightBappear healthy on cameraClook like the character in the bookDask Suzanne to change Katniss looks解析:选B细节理解题。根据最后一段中的“When she took on the role of Katniss in the Hunger Games series, she refused to appear unhealthy on camera.” 4The passage is written to _.Aencourage equal payBintroduce some moviesCencourage moviewatchingDintroduce Jennifer Lawrence解析:选D写作意图题。 Jennifer Lawrence。BListening to music is considered a good thing for adults. Then, is music good for children? Some parents think so and let their children learn or listen to music. But some parents dont know the importance of music to children. Here are some reasons why music is important to children.First, music is good for childrens intelligence. Studies have proved that children who learn music are likely to have higher intelligence than those who have no interest in or dislike music. This is because the brain gets stimulated (刺激) by the rhythm and tone of music.Music also has soothing (抚慰的) effect on children and helps remove their stress. Todays children are under a lot of stress from schoolwork. Being under too much stress impairs childrens health. Luckily, listening to music can help them feel better.Music can improve childrens moods. Some children are sad by nature. They seem to be lost in their own thoughts and dont take interest in their surroundings. In such cases, a method known as “music therapy” comes to their rescue. It changes their moods and places a new kind of spirit in them.Music is also a universal language that children ought to learn. Our world has become a global village. People are getting more and more interested in other cultures and countries. Music can help them in understanding foreign cultures.
