I had the carriage on the train to myself up to Rohana, and then a girl got on. The couple seeing her off were probably her parents, they seemed very anxious about her comfort, and the woman gave the girl detailed instructions as to where to keep her things, when not to lean out of windows, and how to avoid speaking to strangers. As I had become blind by then, I could not tell what the girl looked like, but I knew she wore slippers from the way they slapped against her heels. “Are you going all the way to Dehra Dun?”I asked her as the train pulled out of the station. I must have been sitting in a dark comer, perhaps because my voice amazed her. She gave a little scream, and said, “I didnt know anyone else was here.” I didnt see you either at first, I said. But I heard you come in. I wondered if I would be able to prevent her from discovering that I couldnt see.I thought, provided I kept to my seat, it shouldnt be too difficult. “Im getting down at Saharanpur, the girl said. “ Where are you going?” “To Dehra Dun, and then to Mussoorie, I replied. Oh, lucky you! I wish I were going to Mussoorie. I love the mountains, especially in October. “Yes,this is the best time. I said, calling on my memories when I could see. The hills are covered with wild flowers, the sun is delicious, and at night you can sit in front of a log fire and drink a little brandy. Most of the tourists have gone, and for a while we sat in silence. She was silent, and I wondered if my words had touched her. What is it like outside? I asked. But I made a mistake. Had she noticed already that I could not see? “Why dont you look out of the window?” she asked quite naturally.注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;2.至少使用5个短文中标有下划线的关键词语;3.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。Paragraph 1: I moved easily along the open window. _Paragraph 2: Eventually she got off the train. _2、阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。 Once, a little boy played around an apple tree every day. Day after day, the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day. One day the boy came back to the tree, looking very sad. So the tree asked the boy to play with him. “I am no longer a kid, and I dont play around trees any more,” the boy replied. I want to buy some toys which I am fond of very much. However, I dont have money to buy them.” The tree said, “Sorry,I dont have money, but you can pick my apples and sell them. Then you will have money. The boy was so excited that he grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. What made the tree sad was that the boy never appeared after he picked the apples. After a very long time, one day the boy returned and the tree was so excited to ask the boy to play with him,but the boy said he didnt have time to play and he had to work for his family and he needed a house for shelter. “Sorry,I dont have a house. However, I was also overwhelmed with sadness, fear anti anger. I felt sorry for my son and for myself. Like others in similar circumstances, my question to God was Why me? Through the grace of God, I am now able to focus on my gratitude. I believe God chose me to raise my son because God knew that I would give him the best I have with enthusiasm. He will teach me to love and understand himfor who he is. I am grateful that I have my son, and I am grateful that God chose me to be his mother. There is power and healing in gratitude. How can gratitude help us in our everyday lives as moms? Look at all the people around you, and think about the difference you can make in your familys life just by noticing and being thankful for all the great things they do. When life is good, gratitude is easy. Thats to say, when you express gratitude, you show your love and appreciation. Everyone needs to feel these things every day. Sometimes as moms we feel that no one appreciates usand it is true that moms are usually last on the list to be thanked. One way you can teach gratitude is by example. Even on the days when it seems your children or husband are doing everything wrong, find a reason to thank them. Take the time and energy to look for the good. Think about the things that your family do and things that deserve a thank you. You might sav to vour husband, Thank you for working so hard for our family, or, to your child, I really appreciate your sense of humor it feels good to laugh. Expressing your gratitude helps family members to understand how itfeels to be appreciated. And if they still dont catch on, let them know when you feel unappreciated. You can also tell them how great it makes you feel when they do express gratitude.注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右;2.至少使用5个短文中标有下划线的关键词语;3.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。Paragraph 1: Gratitude is a wonderful motivator when you need cooperation. _Paragraph 2: Sometimes we get so busy in daily life that we forget to be grateful. _4、阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。 I hurried into the local department store to grab some Christmas gifts. Christmas was beginning to become such a drag. I wished that I could just sleep through Christmas. There I saw a little boy about 5 holding a beautiful doll. He kept touching her hair and he heldher so gently, but money seemed a problem. I couldnt help asking the boy who the doll was for. He said, “ It is the doll my sister wanted so badly for Christmas. She just knew that Santa would bring it. I told him that maybe Santa was going to bring it. He said,“No, Santa cant go where my sister is. I have to give the doll to my mom to take to her, I asked him where his sister was. He looked at me with the saddest eyes and said, “She has gone to be with Jesus. My dad says that Mom is going to be with her. That meant his mother was in serious condition. My heart nearly stopped beating. Then the boy said, I told my dad to tell Mom to wait till I got back from the store.” Then he asked me to see his picture. “I want my mom to take this with her so she doesnt ever forget me.” I saw that the little boy had lowered his head, very quiet. When counting money for him, I slipped a handful of my bills in with his while he was not looking. Of course it was enough for the doll. Then the boy was excited and said, “I can afford to buy a rose for my mom, too. She loves white roses very much.” In a few minutes I wheeled my cart awayI left there in tears. Like most teachers, she looked at her pupils in the class and said that she loved them all the same, and that she would treat them all the same. And that was impossible because in front of her, there was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard, sitting lazily in his seat in the third row. Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy and noticed he didnt play well with the other children, that his clothes were untidy and that he constantly needed a bath. Because Teddy was a little boy of low spirits, no one else seemed to like him, either. At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each childs records, saying that Teddy was lonely at times and became a more serious problem. Mrs. Thompson realized the problem but Christmas was coming fast. Before the holiday began, she was suddenly forced to focus again on Teddy Stoddard and paid particular attention to him. Her children brought her presents, all with beautiful ribbon and bright paper, except for Teddys, which was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper of a grocery bag. Mrs. Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of the other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet(莱茵石手锡) with some of the stones missing, and a bottle that was one-quarter full of cologne(古龙香水). She stopped the childrens laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on. Teddy Stoddard stayed behind just long enough to say, “Mrs. Thompson, today you smell just like my mom.注意:1.所续写短文的同数应为150左右;2.至少使用5个短文中标有下划线的关键词语;3.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语Paragraph 1 : After the children left, Mrs. Thompson cried for at least an hour. _Paragraph 2: A year later she found a note under her door from Teddy. _6、阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。 In the busy city of New York, such an astonishing thing happened. On a Friday night, a poor young artist stood at the gate of the subway station, playing his violin. Though people were quickly going home for the weekend, many of them slowed down their paces and put some money into the hat of the young man. The next day, the young artist came to the gate again, and put his hat on the ground gracefully. He took out a large piece of paper, laid it on the ground and put some stones on it. Then he adjusted the violin and began playing. It sounded more pleasant. Before long, the young violinist was surrounded with people who were all attracted by the words on the paper, which said, Last night, a gentleman named George Sang put an important thing into my hat by mistake. Please come to claim it soon. Seeing this, people wondered what it could be. After about half an hour, a middle-aged man ran there in a hurry and rushed through the crowd to the violinist and grabbed his shoulders and said, Yes, its you. You do come here. I know that youre an honest man and will certainly come here.” The young violinist asked calmly,“Are you Mr. George Sang?” The man nodded. The violinist asked, “Did you lose something?” “Its a lottery ticket,” said the man. The violinist took out a lottery ticket on which George Sang9s name was seen. “Is this yours?” he asked. George nodded happily. A few days ago George Sang bought a lottery ticket. The awards opened yesterday and he won a prize of $500,000.So he felt verr happy and then he took out 50 dollars and put in the hat yesterday. Stronger stonns. Prolonged droughts. Species extinction. These are some of the impacts of climate change. Our response is adaptation and mitigation that have to be done together within the first half of the centun. Otherwise, climate change becomes irreversible. The Paris Agreement, although not legally limiting, is forcing enough to make us act on our own to help protect our “common home. The key policy is to put a price on carbon and to tax it. With this policy we can speed up the transition from fossil fuels(矿物燃料) to clean, renewable energy and generate the extra profit needed for adaptation measures. We should not wait for other countries to help us adjust to the impacts of climate change. A good choice is to put a price on carlxm dioxide and other greenhouse gases. We know the energy policy works: pricing on carbon creates broad encouragement with cut emissions(排放物). Yet the current price of carbon remain
