阅读理解A(2019长沙联考)A Song of Ice and Fire is a sevenpart series of fantasy written for adults.George RR.Martin writes each chapter from the perspective of a specific character, providing a limited point of view for each section. The reader is able to understand the inner workings of the individual, but the reader is barred from a whole understanding of the text. The world he has created has magic, but there is much more than that. While magic exists,it exists on the edge, and the inner unrest of the characters is much more important. His work also has a level of realness that is astonishing in a work of fantasy.Characters are imperfect, and many make questionable moral choices. In the end, however,Martin shows that both good and bad happen to both the people of high moral standard and the corrupt. He has made it clear that any character can die at any point, which has led to a lot of heartbreak from readers. In 2011,A Song of Ice and Fire became a television series titled Game of Thrones.Martin has been closely involved with the production. It has currently run for seven seasons, and viewers anxiously await the eighth season to answer their questions from the season seven finale. His fans are also waiting for The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring, the next books in the series,to answer the questions Martin and the television show have not yet addressed.Martin, however, has no plans to rush.He has made it clear that he will continue to write the books while working on the television show and writing other novels. But how will the story continue? What is going to happen in Westeros, and more importantly: when are we going to find out? Martinis skill as a writer has kept readers and viewers spellbound. Many hope he will finish the next book before the next season of the show begins, but no one knows with Martin. He always keeps his readers guessing.【语篇解读】本文是一篇说明文。 1One of the characteristics of A Song of Ice and Fire is .Aeach chapter is written from a limited point of viewBmagic is the center of the storyCMartin has made imperfect characters die at any pointDmany characters make astonishing choicesA细节理解题。根据第一段中“George RR.Martin writes each chapter from the perspective of a specific character, providing a limited point of view for each section.” 2What is George RR.Martins A Song of Ice and Fire considered to be?AOne of his masterworks of fantasy.BAn unsuccessful screen adaptation.CAn artistic creation for the TV.DOne of the best TV programmes.A推理判断题。 由此可知,George RR.Martin的A Song of Ice and Fire很受人们欢迎。 3What does the underlined word “addressed” in the fourth paragraph mean?AWritten.BSpoken.CSolved. frightened, its heart starts beating faster, its muscles get tense and there are changes in the chemicals in its bloodstream.Although the cat doesnt realize this, its body is getting ready for action. If the danger continues, the animal will do one of two things. It will protect itself,or it will run away as fast as it can.Something like this also happens to people. When we are excited, angry or scared by other feelings, our bodies go through many physical changes. Our hearts beat faster, and our muscles get tense. All of these changes make us more alert and ready to react. We,too, get ready to defend ourselves or run.Human beings, however, have a problem that animals never face.If we give way to our feelings and let them take over,we can get into trouble.Have you ever said something in anger or hit somebody and regretted it later?Have you ever shouted at a teacher, told somebody you were lonely,or said you were in love, and then wished later you had kept your mouth shut?It isnt always clever to express your feelings freely.Does this mean that its smarter to always hide our feelings? No!If you keep feelings of anger, sadness hidden away or bottled up inside, your body stays tense.Physical illness can develop, and you can feel disturbed badly inside. It can actually be bad for your health. It isnt good to keep pleasant feelings inside either;all feelings need to be expressed.Feelings that you keep all bottled up inside dont just go away. Its as if you bought some bananas and put them in a cupboard. You might not be able to see them, but before long youd smell them. And if you opened the cupboard, chances are that youd see little fruit flies flying all over them. They are bad.You can try to treat feelings as if they were bananas in the cupboard. You can hide them and you can pretend they dont exist, but theyll still be around. And at last youll have to deal with them, just like those bananas.【语篇解读】本文是一篇说明文,由猫面对害怕而表现出的行为引出人类有同样遭遇时的表现,但人类不能控制感情的时候会陷入困境。 5When people and animals are aroused by fear, .Athey feel very regretful immediatelyBtheir
