2.Beforeyoubegin

Readandunderstandtheseinstructionsbeforeperforminganyprocedurewiththisdrive.

•ReadandunderstandtheInstallationManualbeforeinstallingoroperatingtheAltivar61drive.Installation,adjustment,repair,andmaintenancemustbeperformedbyqualifiedpersonnel.

•Theuserisresponsibleforcompliancewithallinternationalandnationalelectricalstandardsinforceconcerningprotectivegroundingofallequipment.

•Manypartsofthisvariablespeeddrive,includingtheprintedcircuitcards,operateatthelinevoltage.DONOTTOUCH.Useonlyelectricallyinsulatedtools.

•DONOTtouchunshieldedcomponentsorterminalstripscrewconnectionswithvoltagepresent.

•DONOTshortacrossterminalsPAandPCoracrosstheDCbuscapacitors.

•Installandcloseallthecoversbeforeapplyingpowerorstartingandstoppingthedrive.

•Beforeservicingthevariablespeeddrive-Disconnectallpower.

•Disconnectallpowerincludingexternalcontrolpowerthatmaybepresentbeforeservicingthedrive.WAIT15MINUTEStoallowtheDCbuscapacitorstodischarge.ThenfollowtheDCbusvoltagemeasurementproceduregivenintheInstallationManualtoverifythattheDCvoltageislessthan45VDC.ThedriveLEDsarenotaccurateindicatorsoftheabsenceofDCbusvoltage.

Electricshockwillresultindeathorseriousinjury.

ThankyouforpurchasingtheMetasysN2optioncard(VW3A3313)forAltivar61drive.

ByInstallingthisboardintotheAltivar61,datacommunicationcanbemadewithahostcomputerorotherdeviceviaMetasysN2network.

ThecommunicationcardhasaDsub9-pinconnectorforconnectiontothenetwork.

DataexchangesgiveaccesstoallAltivar61functions:•Control(start,stop,reset,setpoint),

•Monitoring(status,current,voltage,thermalstate...),•Diagnostics(alarms).

Thegraphicdisplayterminalortheintegrateddisplayterminalcanbeusedtoaccessnumerousfunctionsforcommunicationconfigurationanddiagnostics.

8.1.Cableroutingpractices

WhenwiringAltivar61drivestoaMetasysN2network,followallwiringpracticesrequiredbynationalandlocalelectricalcodes.Alsoobservethefollowingguidelines:

•Avoidareasofhightemperature,moisture,vibration,orothermechanicalstress.

•Securethecablewherenecessarytopreventitsweightandtheweightofothercablesfrompullingortwistingthecable.

•Usecableducts,raceways,orotherstructurestoprotectthecable.Usethesestructuresforsignalwiringpaths.Theymustnotcontainpowerwiring.

•Avoidsourcesofelectricalinterferencethatcaninducenoiseintothecable.Usethemaximumpracticableseparationfromsuchsources.

Whenplanningcableroutingwithinabuilding,followtheseguidelines:•Maintainaminimumseparationof1mfromthefollowingequipment:

-airconditionersandlargeblowers,-elevatorsandescalators,

-radiosandtelevisions,

-intercomandsecuritysystems,

-fluorescent,incandescent,andneonlightingfixtures.
