Greet the child warmly and let him know you are glad to see himChildren learn a lot from how their parents stay with them and other people.Teach children how to solve conflicts(争端)Being able to work out conflicts is an important skill in getting along with othersIf parents know the children have a conflict, let them work it out on their ownOnly step in if it is really necessary, for example,an argument is getting physical.Give children chances to practice staying togetherHave children play games that require cooperation. For example, races are fun and provide plenty of practice in teamwork“In what ways didnt you work well together? What might you do differently next time?” For these ideas, see books such as Games Book by Telly Orlick and TeamBuilding by Alanna Jones. Encourage children to show thanks to othersThe parents can encourage children to do this by setting the example for them21According to the article,if one child has no friend,he will_.Ahave some trouble in the futureBworry about everything in the futureC. not know the importance of making friends Dnot find anybody to help him22Friendship can be helpful to the children EXCEPT_.Aproviding a lot of fun Bgetting in touch with othersC. solving the problems Dhelping to cheat in the exams23When the children disagree with each other, the parents should_.A1et them fight with each other until they find who is the winnerBdo nothing to the children and believe in their abilitiesC1et them work it out by themselves and help if necessaryD. talk with them and try to find good ways to stay together24From the textwe can know a good friend should know how to_.Afall in love with each other Bshow thanks to othersC. exchange their presents Dignore their differencesB Last week my youngest son and I visited my father at his new home in Tucson, Arizona. He moved there a few years ago, and I was eager to see his now place and meet his friends. My earliest memories of my father are of a tall, handsome, successful man devoted to his work and family but uncomfortable with his children. As a child I loved him; as a school girl and young adult(成年人)I feared him and felt bitter(痛苦的) about him. He seemed unhappy with me unless I got straight As and unhappy with my boy friends if their fathers were not as “successful” as he was. Whenever I went out with him on weekends, I used to struggle to think up things to say, feeling on guard. On the first day of my visit, we went out with one of my fathers friends for lunch at an outdoor cafe. We walked along that afternoon, did some shopping, ate on the street table, and laughed over my sons funny facial expressions Gone was my fathers critical(挑剔的)air and strict rules. Who was this person I knew as my father, who seemed so friendly and interesting to be around? What had held him back before? The next day my Dad pulled out his childhood pictures and told me quite a few stories about his own childhood. Although our times together became easier over the years, I never felt closer to him at that moment. After so many years, Im at last seeing another side of my father. And in so doing, Im delighted with my new friend. My Dad, in his new home in Arizona, is back to me from where he was.25Why did the author feel bitter about her father as a young adult?AHe was silent most of the time BHe was too proud of himselfCHe did not love his children DHe expected too much of her26When the author went out with her father on weekends, she would feel_.Anervous Bsorry Ctired Dsafe27What does the author think of her father after her visit to Tucson?AMore critical BMore talkativeCGentle and friendly DStrict and hard-working28The underlined words“my new friend” in the last paragraph refer to_Athe authors son Bthe authors fatherCthe friend of the authors father Dthe cafe owner C The unquestioned role of a student is to learn as much as possible through whatever means it takes to acquire knowledge. Teachers and professors are human beings and are therefore not perfect. No one knows the correct answer to every question even when you limit the questions to a certain field of study. Having certain skepticism (质疑) about what they are being taught can help students to make the teachers even better by correcting mistakes and misinformation. Students certainly have a huge role in their own abilities to learn. Teachers should act more as guides along the way rather than try to force each student to learn. The best teachers in the world cannot teach an unmotivated student. If the teacher, for whatever reason, cannot motivate the student, then the student must somehow find a way to motivate himself or herself. One method of doing this is by becoming an active rather than a passive student. The more the student involves himself or herself in the act of studying, the better he or she can learn. One of the best ways to become more active is simply to ask the teacher or professor questions. Students who passively sit in a classroom and take everything that the teacher says for granted are not fully using their mental capacities(能力) to learn. Better education comes from teachers who are able to get their students to think about a subject rather than merely absorb a certain amount of information. Having a healthy skepticism can improve a students ability to both think and absorb knowledge in a learning situation. Teachers are human beings and no one is one hundred percent right all of the time, even in a classroom situation. Perhaps a teacher would simply unconsciously say the wrong word or pass on some misinformation that the teacher truly believed was correct. A students question could prevent an entire classroom from becoming confused or misinformed. There is of course a fine balance between a student having a healthy skepticism, and just being a downright(令人不快的) skeptic. But with the proper attitude toward learning and a little skepticism, both the students and teachers can improve upon the learning process and maximize learning efficiency.29. Its not natural to smile when were sad or upset. But it turns out that smiling might be the best thing to do when youre ready to shift into a brighter mood. Scientists have found that smiling on purpose can help people feel better. 36 Smiling on purpose changes brain chemistry. So it can be a big help to people who are dealing with depression and anxiety. Our body language can influence our emotions. In one study, researchers discovered that people who stood in a confident way actually felt more confident. 37 A smile helps you feel happier and being happier helps you keep the smile going in a genuine way. 38 Theres just one trick to making smiling work for you: You need to do it correctly. A true and genuine smile is called a Duchenne smile. It uses all the muscles in the face, including the “laughter lines” around your eyes. 39 If you are smiling on purpose to help lift your mood, you will notice some changes in your face. But you may ignore these tiny changes in your face. 40 You can see how it feels by holding a pencil horizontally between your teeth as you smile.A. Your fake smile is now a real one!B.
