impressionsofprideandprejudice itisatruthwellknowntoalltheworldthatanunmarriedmaninpossessionofalargefortunemustinneedofawife.the opening sentence of prideandprejudice left deep impression on readers almost two centuries ago. jane austens tale of love and economics reaches us once more with the energy of a thorough novelty. pride and prejudice has been a favorite novel of mine since i first read it and ive seen laurence olivier and greer garson, colin firth and jennifer ehle and now matthew macfadyen and kiera knightly. that movie has such a strong appeal to me, i was totally obsessed by it.amazingly enough ive never been disappointed. the material seems to be full proof. colin firths darcy, in many ways, is the darcy ive always imagined. hes been an actor ive followed feverishly since his glorious adrian leduc in apartment zero, matthew macfadyen was totally new to me but he managed to create that sense of longing that makes that final pay off so satisfying. kiera knightly is a ravishing revelation. i must confess, i didnt remotely imagined that she was capable of the powerful range she brilliantly shows here. the other big surprise is joe wright, the director, in his feature film debut which is more than promising, its extraordinary. the photography, the art direction and the spectacular supporting cast, in particular donald sutherland and brenda blethyn, makes this new version of a perennial classic a memorable evening at the movies then i find the book “prideandprejudice” immediately and read it over and over again. its one of my favorite books. and i just cant wait a minute to express my feeling about it.isearchedtheinternetandfoundsomethingabouttheauthorjane austen. as the author of prideandprejudice, jane austen was one of the famous realistic writers in the english literature in nineteenth century.hernovelswerewitty,warmandironicportraitsoftheprivilegeclassesof18th-and19th-centuryengland.herbest-knownworksare emma(1815),prideandprejudice(1813)andsenseandsensibility (1811).prideandprejudiceisoneoftherepresentativeworksofjane austen,firstpublishedin1813.thoughthestoryssettingis characteristicallyturn-of-the-19th-century,itretainsafascinationfor modernreaders, continuingnearthetopoflistsofmostlovedbooks.i couldnt forget how eager mrs. bennet wants to marry off her daughters. if you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, i must mention the situation in britain at that time. only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his fathers possessions. younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. jane austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century. in “pride and prejudice”, the sister of mr. bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying jane because the bennets dont have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. from this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. the society, the relatives would not allow them to get marriage. in modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is stil d in some peoples mind. a lot of parents try hard to interfere their childrens marriages. education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence ones marriage. marry for money is still a big problem in our society. we cant help thinking: can money determine everything?then lets come to talk about the meaningful topic of this love story: pride and prejudice are our common problems and weaknesses. in fact, everyone is very easy to be driven by his own subjective impression and thus easy to make incorrect comments on others, and then led to misunderstand between people. ones first impression can affect a lot of things for sure, but it doesnt mean it couldnt be changed. the deeper you get to understand someone, the more objective points you will have on him or her. the changing of elizabeths point of view towards darcy just proved this perfectly: no pride, no prejudice, and these two married just because they love each other, just because they need each other instead of need each others possessions. austen is smart, because elizabeth got beauty and intelligence while darcy is handsome and rich. i even wonder if such a perfect marriage could take place in modern society.in brief, after reading this story, many feelings come to me. at the same time, i strongly recommend every university students to read this classical book and then think twice about this eternal subject: on love, which factor is that should be in the first place? in prideandprejudice, jane austen wrote four types of marriage: deal elizabeth and darcy, realizable charlotte and collins, felicitous jane and bingley, unhappy lydia and wickham. she p
