Unit 4 Body LanguagePart 1 Teaching DesignPeriod 3 A sample lesson plan for Using Language(SHOWING OUR FEELINGS) IntroductionLanguage is learned to be used in and for communication. So in this period we shall have the students read, listen, write and speak in English, making use of the focused words, expressions, structures and topic ideas covered in this unit. The period can go on according to the following steps: Reading and underlining,Reading and underlining all the useful expressions or collocations in the passage,Doing exercises,Making a list of body language expressions,Making a list of three positive body language expressions and three negative body language expressions,Speaking and writing and Closing down by summarizing body language.Learning aims(1)To enjoy reading the passage SHOWING OUR FEELINGS(2)To learn to use the language by reading, listening, speaking and writing(3)Students can master some basic language points.Language focus and difficulties(1) How to use body language correctly(2) Develop students reading skills by extensive reading(3) Let students read and understand the two passages: show our feelings and the open hand-A universal signProcedures1. Show the learning aims to the students and ask them to read it quickly2. Ask the students to reading and underliningRead the passage loudly and underline all the useful expressions or collocations in the passage. Ask the students to copy them into their collocation book after class as homework.3. Disscussion, after reading and underlining, students are required to discuss with their group members to check the results.During the discussion, teacher will walk around the classroom to make sure that everyone is discussing the questions4. Analysis, several students to analysis the contents on the blackboard.During this process, the students need to write down some sample sentences on the blackboard6. Ask some students to make a conclusion, writing about the importance of body languageNow you are going to read the text Showing Our Feeling again and then write a short passage telling about the importance of body language.The importance of body languagePeople cannot live without each other, we are social beings. As soon as we are in contact with others we are communicating. For this we can make use of spoken and written language. In these ways we make the content of a message clear to each other. However we can also communicate without words. This kind of communication tells us something about the relationship between people. Often this is more important than getting the content of the message across. The communication about this non spoken communication, which tells us something about the relationship between people, is called Meta-Communication. Communicating about communication!7.
