2018猿题库猿题库第一次第一次模拟考试模拟考试(全国卷全国卷) 除听力部分除听力部分 一一、阅读理解阅读理解 A Theres plenty of innovation(革新) among Europes family cartoon movies, representing the continents desire to distinguish itself from standard Hollywood fare. Below, we take a look at four features thatll be presented this year. Calamity: A Childhood of Martha Jane Cannary Following up on his unique and sadly overlooked film Long Way North, director Rmi Chay is developing another mostly-drawn feature with a strong female main character. The setting this time is switched from the North Pole to the American West of the mid-19th century, and the story is an original take on an actual historical figure, Calamity Jane. French companies Maybe Movies and Sacrebleu Productions are leading the films development. Kensukes Kingdom Back in 2015, Cartoon Brew revealed exclusive concept art from this project by filmmakers Kirk Hendry and Neil Boyle. They were aiming for a mixed-media approach “using a box of tricks including hand-drawn characters, miniature landscapes and CG environment effects“. The project, based on the bestselling novel by War Horse author Michael Morpurgo, is still following that vision. The companies behind Kensukes Kingdom are Lupus Films, Jigsaw Films, Melusine Productions and Spirit Base. Princess Dragon Anthony Roux and Jean-Jacques Denis, directors of last years Dofus Book 1: Julith return with a new 2D digital idea for children called Princess Dragon. The project, from Frances Ankama Animations, is being presented as a cross-media concept, not surprising considering that Ankama established its reputation based on its MMORPGs(massively multiplayer online role-playing games). Wolfwalkers Filmmaker Tomm Moore has been Oscar-nominated(被奥斯卡提名) for Song of the Sea and The Secret of Kells. He continues his deep-dive into regional folklore(民间传说) with Wolfwalkers, a 2D digital feature that he will co- direct with Ross Stewart, the art director of Kells. Moores studio Cartoon Saloon will produce it. 21.What do we know about the film Long Way North? A. Its story takes place at the North Pole. B. It has included some CG environment effects. C. The story of a historical figure. B. A bestselling novel named War Horse. C. A novel written by Michael Morpurgo. D. A cross-media project from Ankama Animations. 23.What do Song of the Sea and The Secret of Kells have in common? A. Theyre both directed by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart. B. Theyre both produced by Cartoon Saloon. C. Theyre both a mixture of multi-media. D. Theyre both related to folk tales. B I spent my first day as creative learning officer at Macrobert Arts Centre with artist Philip Gurrey and drama practitioner Lucy Wild. It was fantastic to see members of the community coming together to engage with these activities. This was my introduction to the “conversation starter“ approach that Macrobert Arts Centre has been using since Julie Ellen took up leadership. A group of local women played the miners wives in the production. Recorded voices and artwork from local people formed part of an exhibition by artist Philip Gurrey. As part of this project, I also visited the Cowie Miners Welfare Club with Gary Clarke, witnessing the pride this community held in their mining tradition and the excitement they felt at seeing their stories on stage. Those few hours in Cowie have stayed with me and will continue to remind me of the importance of this kind of work. We dont want the engagement with these communities to be a one-off event. So weve started a new project that will strengthen the relationships started by the very first “conversation starter“ focused around Rosie Kays 5 Soldiers: The Body is the Frontline. Were creating education resources for schools and delivering a practical drama project with local veterans(退伍军人). 5 Soldiers asked the questions “How much risk would I take to do what I care most about?“ and “Who am I if I cant do that thing?“. These questions are at the heart of what we will be exploring with the participants. The combination of drama with practical skills aims to help the veterans engage with the support available to them. Our key objective is to improve the participants understanding of their place as civilians, within society, and to build positive, lasting relationships. I hope that through this project well give something back to people who have made huge sacrifices for their local community and the nation. 24.What impressed the author most during his visit to the Cowie Miners Welfare Club? A. The presence of some local veterans. B. Local peoples willingness to perform on stage. C. Local peoples inspiring reaction to the project. D. The importance of local peoples mining tradition. 25.What does the underlined part “that thing“ in the fifth paragraph refer to? A. Serving in the army. B. Giving back to the society. C. They are lacking in access to education resources. B. They feel disconnected with their local community. C. They are not good at communicating with other people. D. They are frequently exposing themselves to physical risks. 27.What is the best title for the text? A. My Journey of Giving Back to Local Veterans B. My Drama Practice With Philip Gurrey and Lucy Wild C. What a Creative Design! How Macrobert Arts Centre Works D. What a Drama! How Conversation Starters Build Real Connections C Self-awareness in both animals and young children is usually tested using the “mirror self-recognition test“ to see if they understand that the reflection in front of them is actually their own. Only a few species have so far shown themselves capable of self-recognition great apes, dolphins, magpies and elephants. One potential complement(补充) to the mirror test as a measure of self-understanding may be a test of body-awareness. This test looks at how individuals may recognise their bodies as obstacles to success in a problem- solving task. To test for body-awareness in Asian elephants, Dr. Josh Plotnik, a researcher at the University of Cambridge, devised a new test of self- awareness. In the test, Plotnik attached a stick to a rubber mat(垫子) using a rope; the elephants were then required to walk onto the mat, pick up the stick and pass it to an experimenter standing in front of them. The researchers wanted to know whether elephants understood the role of their bodies as potential obstacles to success in the task by observing how and when the animals removed themselves from the mat in order to exchange the stick. In one control arm of the test, the stick was unattached to the mat, meaning the elephant could pass the stick while standing on the mat. Plotnik found that the elephants stepped off the mat to pass the stick to the experimenter significantly more often during the test than during the control arm. Elephants stepped off the mat an average of around 42 out of 48 times during the test compared to just three times on average during the control. “The elephants understood that their bodies were getting in the way, so they stepped aside to enable themselves to complete the task,“ says Dr. Plotnik. “This implies that elephants may be capable of recognising themselves as separate from objects or their environment. This means that they may have a level of self-understanding, coupled with their passing of the mirror test, which is quite rare in the animal kingdom.“ 28.What did Dr Plotnik try to prove through his test? A. Self-control does exist in elephants. B. Animals are cleverer than we thought. C. Elephants have awareness of their own body. D. Some animals are fully aware of their environment. 29.What did the elephants focus their attention on in the test? A. The mat. B. The stick. C. The rope. D. Their own bodies. 30.Why did the elephants step off the mat in the test? A. To see the stick clearly. B. To avoid a possible danger. C. To perform their task more easily. D. To get closer to the experimenter. 31.Which of the following does Dr Plotnik probably agree with? A. Elephants are excellent guides for humans. B. Elephants have a high level of intelligence. C. Animals can be trained to take on heavy tasks. D. Animals are depending on humans for survival. D As AI(Artificial Intelligence) develops, thousands of jobs will disappear, just as it has happened in the previous cycles of industrial revolutions. Fortunately, the waves of destructive(破坏性的) innovation also create jobs. History has shown that destructive innovations are not always a zero-sum game. In the long run, the loss of low-added-value jobs to machines can produce some good results. The ATM is a good example of this. As the use of automatic teller machines spread in the 1980s and 90s, many predicted massive unemployment in the banking sector. Instead, ATMs created more jobs as the cost of opening new agencies decreased. The number of agencies increased quickly, as did the banking products. Thanks to automation, going to the bank offers a much better customer experience than in previous decades. And the jobs in the industry became better paid and were of better quality. A similar phenomenon happened with the textile industry in the 19th century. Better machines improved productivity and created customer value, increasing the overall market size and creating new employment opportunities. Meanwhile, more productivity may mean shorter work weeks and more time for family and entertainment, which may lead to more sustainable forms of value creation and, eventually, more jobs. It seems that education systems will do a better job of preparing our children to become good at what humans do best: creative and critical thinking. Less learning-by-heart (after all, most information is one Google search away) and more learning-by-doing. To become creative and critical thinkers, our children will need knowledge and wisdom more than raw data points. They need to ask “why?“, “how?“ and “what if?“ more often than “what?“, “who?“ and “when?“ The methods such as the “flipped classroom“ approach are a good step in that direction. In flipped classrooms, students are told to search for specific contents on the web at home and to come to class ready to apply what they learned in a cooperative project supervised(监督) by the teacher. Thus they do their “homework“(exercise) in class and they have web “lectures“ at home, using class time to do what computers cannot help them to do: create, develop and apply complex ideas cooperatively with their classmates. 32.What does the author want to show by giving the example of ATM? A. The great value of new machines. B. The necessity of low-added-value jobs. C. The importance of customer experience. D. The positive effects of destructive innovation. 33.What will be the final result of better machines? A. Higher unemployment. B. More job opportunities. C. Lower quality of family life. D. Fewer entertainment activities. 34.What will be especially valued in future education? A. The skills at solving problems. B. The ability to remember things. C. The ability to acquire knowledge. D. The skills at searching information. 35.What is encouraged in flipped classrooms? A. Working on tasks individually. B. Getting things done with others. C. Making the best use of computers. D. Asking “what“ and “why“ frequently. 二、七选五 If you regularly become too nervous before and during an important exam, you may have test anxiety. Test anxiety brings symptoms that often interfere with test performance and cause significant discomfort. 36 Making a study plan, getting enough rest, and finding healthy ways to deal with stress can all be helpful in reducing test anxiety. 37 Test anxiety affects many people of all ages and intelligence, and its symptoms are rooted in your biological “fight or flight“ response. When you think about an important test, what are you afraid of? The obvious answer being afraid of failing or performing badly is often just the surface-level fear. 38 Did one of your parents or a teacher send certain messages to you about tests, as if your very worth as a person depended on your score? Finding the root of the anxiety can help you to deconstruct the lies and truths in that experience. You may need to seek out professional counseling to sort through these hidden messages. Anxiety can change your view of reality. 39 For example, it may feel like your whole life depends on the results of that big test coming up. But regardless of how well you do on the exam, the truth is that you are a valuable person with much to contribute simply because you are alive. Time management, good study habits, and attention to organization are practical activities that alleviate the anxieties of test day. Keep in mind that there are many people who actually enjoy challenging themselves through testing. Just think of an area where you have competed successfully, remember the feelings of confidence you experienced as a result. 40 A. Test anxiety is a type of fear. B. This could include taking the test in a separate room. C. Fear often causes us to see things differently from reality. D. Test anxiety is often rooted in early childhood experiences. E. And do your best to channel that experience into testing practice. F. If you feel your anxiety level rising, stop and take a few deep breaths. G. There are many ways you can reduce test anxiety before your next exam. 三、完形填空 When I said that I would run a Volunteer House Project, many reporters interviewed me.
