Objective of ability:(1) Get students to expand their vocabulary about medicine and hospital and use the vocabulary appropriately and freely.(2) Enable students to improve reading abilities and the ability of using linking verbs freely.2. Objective of knowledge:(1) Learn some English words about places in a hospital and the ways we use medicine.(2) Get students to know about some basic information about linking verbs (words used as linking verbs, function of linking verbs, predicative after linking verbs).3. Objective of emotion:Get students learn more about medicine and life. Key and Difficult Points:1. Get students to learn some words to expand their vocabulary about medicine and use the vocabulary appropriately and freely.2. How to enable students to master the grammatical knowledge and apply it to practical use. Teaching Methods:1. Group work, pair work and individual work 2. Explanation and practice3. Brainstorming. Teaching Aids:1. A tape-recorder2. A multimedia computer3. A blackboard and some cards.Teaching Periods:Periods 7-8 Word PowerPeriods 9-10 Grammar and Usage Periods 11-12 Grammar Practice. Analysis of Teaching Materials and Students:此六课时的教学重点一方面放在教授与本单元话题相关的一些词汇和词汇学习的有效方法上。可以从学生的生活体验出发,自然地引入需要教授的一部分词汇。然后利用教材本身提供的语篇材料,引导学生关注使用这些词汇的真实语境。在语篇阅读状态下,帮助学生加深了对它们的印象,并学会词汇分类记忆的方法。由于学生对这部分词汇不太熟悉,但是他们对于实物大多接触过,因此采用情景教学法,以图片的形式再现真实情景,让学生更有效地掌握这部分与疾病、药品,医院相关的词汇。另一方面是学生将学会什么是连系动词(系动词),以及连系动词的功能。学生从开始学习英语就接触了系动词,它是英语中比较常用的词类,会涉及到时态和语态等重难点语法项目,特别需要指导学生进行重点关注。本课时从引导学生识别系动词入手,将系动词的不同用法和特征进行分类说明。在教学中,指导学生通过阅读课本上精简的说明,自己得出一些结论,有助于提高阅读能力和自学能力。由于学生对系动词相对比较熟悉,教学中可以设计一些小练习,帮助他们熟练运用。课本上语篇形式的练习也很好,语用的特征更加明显,建议好好地利用。此外,这些语篇中的课标词汇的学习也要提醒学生注意。同时设置了充分的练习帮助学生锻炼独立思考、解题的能力,训练他们的解题速度,为以后参加四六级等大型考试做好准备。高考链接则能指导他们找准考点、热点,帮助学生在学习时抓住重点、难点。. Teaching Procedures:Step1 Hospital department reading Read and identify the functions of each department in hospitalStep 2 ExerciseMatch the places found in a hospital below with their purposes. Write the correct letters in the blanks.Step 3 Filling the blanksKaren wrote what she did in her diary. Use the information on Page 22 to help Karen complete this diary entry.Step 4 Match gameMatch the words with pictures, learn some words about different ways we use medicine. Explanation本节课4个主要步骤:通过图片导入,词汇填空,实物连线等形式帮助学生掌握这部分与疾病、药品、医院相关的词汇。使用的课件则是采用情景教学法,以图片的形式再现真实情景,让学生更有效地掌握词汇。Step 5 Homework 1. Search information about the history of medicine.2. Review all the expressions related to hospital and medicine.Explanation 家庭作业的布置是课堂的延伸,对课堂教学的内容的巩固。Periods 9-10 Grammar and Usage. Teaching Key and Difficult Points:1. Get students to learn know about some basic information about linking verbs (words used as linking verbs, function of linking verbs, predicative after linking verbs).2. Enable students to apply what theyve learned about linking verbs to practice. Teaching Procedures:Step 1 Lead-in (PPT4)Q: What is a linking verb?A: A linking verb is a word used to connect the subject of a sentence to further information about the state which the subject is in.Explanation学生英文单词词性不分,所以有必要向学生解释清楚什么是连系动词。为学习其功能、搭配奠定基础。Step 2 Introduction (PPT5)Point out the linking verbs Explanation让学生试着找出连系动词,初步认识连系动词,感悟其用法。Step 3 Presentation (PPT6-13)连系动词(即系动词)用于连接主语和表语,说明主语的状态、性质、特征或身份。常见的系动词是be(am/is/are)。除了be动词之外还有一些,它们大致可分为四类:appear, seem; look, sound, feel, taste,smell; become, come, get, grow, turn, fall, go; keep, remain, stay, stand, prove.1. appear、seem表示“似乎”比较: He seems (to be) in his thirties. 他似乎三十多岁了。(与实际相符) He appears (to be) in his thirties. 他看上去三十多岁。(从外表上看)2. look, sound, feel, taste, smell表示“感觉”。 3.become , come , get , grow , turn , fall, go 表示 “变化”。4. keep, remain, stay, stand , prove 表示 “状态”。Usage of “remain”Explanation清楚地分类呈现连系动词,便于学生学习、记忆,为灵活运用连系动词打好基础。Step 4 Practice (PPT14-15)Translation (Use linking verbs): Explanation翻译法虽然有点过时,但是能准确反映学生的真实水平。通过翻译各句,巩固所学连系动词的用法。Step 5 Extension (PPT16) (一) 连系动词的句子变为疑问句,be的正确形式直接提前;否定句时,be后加not。 (二) 对连系动词之后表语提问(1) 形容词, 常用“How”提问 (2) 名词, 常用“what”提问 (3) 副词、数词、代词、介词短语、分词、动名词都可以作表语,分别表示不同的含义,提问时,要针对性强。(三) 动名词(短语)跟在连系动词后 如:My job is looking after the children. (四) 现在分词(短语)跟在连系动词后 如: The film is moving.(五) 过去分词(短语)跟在连系动词后 如:We were moved by the story.Explanation扩展学生的连系动词其它用法,能帮助学生在英语语言运用中更好地活用连系动词。Step 6 Consolidation (Summarize the usage of linking verbs)1. seem:seem (to be) +表语;seem to have done sth;seem to be doing sth.;seem +从句2. become:become + noun.;become + adj.;become + v-ed/ing3. grow:grow + adj.;grow to do sth.;grow into (= become);4. remain:remain + n.;remain + adj.;remain + pron.;remain + v-ed/ing;remain+ prep.; remain + to do sth. Explanation总结常见连系动词,能帮助语法概念模糊的同学或基础较弱的同学真正掌握连系动词的运用。Step 7 Practice Ask students to do exercises on page 41.Step 8 Homework1. Review what we have learned today! 2. Finish Exercises C1 & C2 (P109).Explanation连系动词的用法并不难,但是如果没有足够的练习,即使结构罗列得再清楚,也难以保证学生掌握,所以充足的练习是语法学习的保证。 Periods 11-12 Grammar Practice. Teaching Key and Difficult Points:1. Help students to get a further understanding of linking verbs. 2. Enable students to do some practice to consolidate the grammar knowledge. Teaching Procedures:Step 1 Revision of Grammar Knowledge【定义】连系动词是用来连接句子主语和表示该主语所处状态的成分的动词。最常用的连系动词是“to be (be/am/is/are/was/were/been)”,还有appear, seem, prove, keep, stay, remain, feel, smell, sound, taste, look, turn, go, fall, grow, get 和become等。【要点】连系动词本身有一定的词义,但不能独立作谓语,必须与表语一起构成谓语。表语通常由名词、形容词或相当于名词或形容词的词或短语等充当,说明主语是什么或怎么样。连系动词不用被动语态,一般不用进行时,作非谓语动词时,也没有被动形式。类型常见连系动词否定式特征和作用状态be直接在be动词后加not表示主语状态持续keep, rest, remain, stay, lie, stand用助动词 do;does;did帮助构成表示主语继续或保持一种状况或态度表像seem, appear, look,“看起来像”的一种状况或态度感官feel, smell, sound, taste,表示存在或具有某种特征或状态变化become, grow, turn, fall, get, go, come, run由一种情况或状态变成另一种情况或状态终止prove, turn out主语已终止某种特征或状态Step 2 PracticeA. 从所给的连系动词中选出合适的填空,注意用其正确形式:B.
