They can also be tools for strengthening the group. There are many levels of team building exercises. Lets look at some activities that can help you build a stronger team.Pass the ClapPass the Clap works well as a beginning activity to help your group get to know each other. Have the participants stand in a circle. One person starts the clap and then turns to face the person next to him. As they are about to make eye contact, they clap together. That next person now has the clap and he has to pass it on. Continue to pass the clap around the circle.Blindfolded BirthdayBlindfolded Birthday works well after people have become a little more familiar with each other. Everyone puts on a blindfold. Then, without talking, they have to line up in order of birthdays. Two Truths and a LieTwo Truths and a Lie can be played anytime in the groups operations. Have the participants sit in a circle. Each person is supposed to tell two truths and a lie about themselves. The group has to guess which is the lie.Human KnotHuman Knot is an activity best played after your group has gotten quite familiar with each other, because there can be a lot of touching going on. Everyone gathers in a circle. They put their right hands in the middle of the circle. They grab someone elses hand. Then the left hands go in the middle and they grab someone elses hand. The group is now knotted up. The object of Human Knot is to untie the group without letting go of any hands.21Pass the Clap is most helpful for .Astarting relationships Brebuilding relationshipsCwelcoming close friends Dcelebrating some events22When playing Human Knot, .Athe participants shouldnt see each otherBeveryone should grab two peoples handsCeveryone should tell their birthday to othersDthe participants shouldnt have any body contact23Which game is suitable for both strangers and familiars?APass the Clap. The flight had been delayed by a few hours so it felt good to be so close to takeoff. I had my iPod in place and a new book to read. Then, over the loudspeaker came the pilots voice:“The ground crew has found a metal instrument(器械) in one tire. We regret that we must cancel this flight.”The passengers reactions that announcement led to were interesting. One man close to me began to argue with a flight attendant. A couple in another row complained loudly. A businessman in a black suit actually kicked the seat in front of him. Yet some passengers responded differently. An elderly gentleman smiled as he helped others take their bags down from the overhead compartments(行李厢)A teenager, rather than trying to rush off the plane like most of the other passengers, stopped to help a woman with a disability. The lady sitting next to me laughed and said,“Hey,its not the end of the world,” before she made a call to her kids and shared her adventure with them. The wisest among us have a remarkable ability to maintain grounded when times get tough. No life is perfect;mine certainly isnt. We all must face challenges, both large and small. You and I have the power to choose to rise above the external(外部的) circumstances. We always have the choice to be strong and kind when things fall apart.Thats grace(风度) under pressure. My seatmate was rightthings could have been so much worse. Anyway,I am safe. I have my health. I have two wonderful children. I have work I love and so much to be grateful for. Gwendolyn Brooks wrote hundreds of poems during her lifetime. She was known around the world for using poetry to increase understanding about black culture in America. Her poems described conditions among the poor, racial inequality and drug use in the black community. She also wrote poems about the struggles of black women. But her skill was more than her ability to write about struggling black people. She was an expert at the language of poetry. She combined traditional European poetry styles with the African American experience. In her early poetry,Gwendolyn Brooks wrote about the South Side of Chicago. The South Side of Chicago is where many black people live. In her poems, the South Side is called Bronzeville. It was A Street in Bronzeville that gained the attention of literary experts in 1945.Critics praised her poetic skill and her powerful descriptions of the black experience during the time. The Bronzeville poems were her first published collection. In 1950,Gwendolyn Brooks became the first African American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. She won the prize for her second book of poems called Annie Allen. Annie Allen is a collection of poetry about the life of a Bronzeville girl as a daughter,a wife and mother. She experiences loneliness, loss, death and being poor. Ms Brooks said that winning the prize changed her life. Her next work was a novel written in 1953 called Maud Martha. Maud Martha received little notice when it was first published. But now it is considered an important work by some critics. Its main ideas about the difficult life of many women are popular among female writers today. In some of her poems,Gwendolyn Brooks described how what people see in life is affected by who they are. One example is this poem,Corners on the Curing Sky.By the end of the 1960s,Gwendolyn Brookss poetry expanded from the everyday experiences of people in Bronzeville. She wrote about a wider world and dealt with important political issues.28What does the text mainly talk about?AThe life of Gwendolyn Brooks.BThe poems of Gwendolyn Brooks.CThe understanding about black culture.DThe struggles of black women.29What can we learn about Gwendolyn Brooks from the second paragraph?AShe mainly wrote about the struggles of black women.BShe was good at using the language of poetry.CHer writing skills were a little worse than her ability.DHer poems were mainly about the African experience.30The author develops the passage mainly by .Aproviding examples Busing statisticsCcomparing opinions Ddescribing her experiences31In the next part, the author would most probably talk about .Athe difficulties Gwendolyn Brooks would meetBthe poems related to political issuesCthe awards Gwendolyn Brooks gainedDthe racial inequality the black had to faceDThere was a time when a trip to the supermarket in the United States often ended with a seemingly simple question from the cashier:“Paper or plastic?” Well, which type of bag would you choose? While all types of bags have some influence on the environment,it has long been supposed that paper bags are kinder. They are made from a renewable source, break down easily, burn without giving off thick smoke and can be recycled. However, the producing process behind paper bags uses more energy than that of plastic ones. How can this be true?Studies show that paper bag production requires four times as much energy as plastic bag production. And the amount of water used to make them is twenty times higher. Besides, the influence on forests is very serious. It takes about fourteen million trees to produce ten billion paper bags, which happens to be the number of bags used in the United States yearly. In terms of recycling, the idea that paper bags are more environment-friendly than plastic ones can be quickly discarded. Research shows it requires about 98% less energy to recycle plastic than it does paper.Even though paper bags might be more harmful than plastic ones, plastic still seems to be considered by governments as the more harmful of the two. In Ireland, for example,a tax has been introduced to discourage the use of plastic bags. People have to pay 22 cents for every plastic bag,and as a result, their use has dropped quickly.Theres no doubt that it makes more sense to reuse these bags. However,we dont seem to be doing that at present. That may be because they fall apart quickly. If so,cloth bags are a better choice, but still, their production also has a bad influence on the environment. So what to do?How should we answer the question of “Paper or plastic?” It seems that we first need to ask ourselves one more general question:“What can I do to help the environment?”32The questions in Paragraph 1 are used to .Aexpress the authors doubtsBtell readers how to save moneyCintroduce points for discussionDshow the kindness of the cashier33Compared with plastic bags, paper bags .Aneed more water to produceBrequire less energy to recycleCtake more time to break downDhave less influence on forests34The underlined word “discarded” in Paragraph 3 probably means “ ”Ashared Bgiven upCdiscussed Dput forward35Which question does the author probably hope the cashier will ask?APaper or cloth? BPaper or plastic?CA small bag or big one? DA new bag or your own one?第二节 (共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题纸上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。How to Avoid an Internet AddictionWhile it may seem like everyone surfs the web these days, there is a fine line between casually checking your social media pages and having a full blown Internet addiction.
