How can y be improved？,20,本書主要的三個主題,Statistical Process Control Experimental Design Acceptance sampling,其中Designed Experiment為發現影響品質主要變數的重 要且有效的方法，但其為一個offline的品管工具，通常 使用於developed activities：製造過程的早期。,Statistical Process control則為一個online（或稱 in-process） 的品管工具。,21,當確認影響生產的主要變數（x）之後，可利用 e.g. regression analysis、time series等方法來建立 y（output品質特徵）與x之關係。,再以SPC （e.g.control chart）來monitor生產過程， 並決定何時應調整input以保證產品的品質，其調 整的量則可由上述建立之regression或time series模 型決定。,22,Phase diagram of the use of quality-engineering methods（in manufacturing organization）.,隨著時間增加 （亦即工廠的 運作越上軌道） 使用SPC及 Design of Exp. 的比例增加，而 Acceptance Sampling卻減少。,23,Application of quality-Engineering techniques and the systematic reduction of process variability.,品管工程師的主要任務： 有系統的減少變異性（systematic reduction of variability）,24,Work force motivation and participative management,ZD（Zero-Defects）program： （1960 defense and aerospace industries）,兩個主要的Aspect （a）motivation aspect：鼓勵員工減少自己的錯誤。 （b）prevention aspect：鼓勵員工協助減少系統上可控 制的錯誤。,有些公司對ZD program的評價很高，但有些公司則不 以為然，但通常以有prevention aspect的效果較佳。,25,2. Q.C.（Quality Control）cycle：（Japanese）,由公司的一個部門中的10個workers及supervisors所自 願組成的team（稱為Productivity Improvement Team）,然在西方社會，成果卻不理想（主因：文化差異）。,在日本相當成功。,此team先參加一個訓練program，了解如何收集、分析 資料，並study另一個成功的Q.C. cycle例子，並合力完成 一個真實的project。,SPC在日本成功的主要原因應歸功於二次大戰後， Dr. W.
