阅读七选五专练(二)A(2017湖南十三校第一次联考)Every culture has its own unwritten list of behavior that is acceptable. Every society also has its taboos, or types of behavior that are considered a violation of good manners. The word taboo comes from the Tongan language and is used in modern English to describe verbal and nonverbal behavior that is forbidden or to be avoided. _1_ They tend to be specific to a culture or country, and usually form around a groups values and beliefs. What is considered acceptable behavior in one country may be a serious taboo in another.Verbal taboos usually involve topics that people believe are too private to talk about publicly, or relate to ones manner of speaking. In many cultures, for example, it is considered bad manners to discuss subjects such as sex or religion in public. In some countries, too much volume of ones voice may annoy people. _2_3_ For example, one of the biggest differences among many Western, Asian, and African cultures is the use of eye contact. In the US., people make eye contact when they talk to others. _4_ In many Asian and African cultures, however, children are taught to lower their eyes when talking to their elders, or those of higher rank, as a way to show respect.Certain gestures made with the hands can have very different meanings depending on the country you are in. Crossing your middle finger over your forefinger is the sign for good luck in many Western countries. _5_ Also, in some Asian countries, moving your hands a lot while talking, or “talking with your hands”, is considered unsuitable.Behavior that is acceptable and nonoffensive in one culture can be highly offensive in another. When visiting a foreign country, be aware of some of the basic differences, as this will help to ensure a more enjoyable trip.ANonverbal taboos usually relate to body language.BIn Vietnam and Argentina, however, it is a rude gesture.CIn spite of what some people may think, taboos are not universal.DCancer is a taboo subject and people are frightened to talk openly about it.ELearn a countrys customs so that you dont hurt the local people unconsciously.FThey might think that someone who is speaking or laughing loudly is rude or aggressive.GIf a person avoids eye contact, others might think they are being dishonest or unconfident. B(2017山西八校第一次联考)Selfconfident people face their fears headon and they know that no matter what obstacles come their way, they have the ability to get past them. Wouldnt it be amazing to have this kind of selfconfidence? Guess what? You can. _6_Stay away from negativity._7_ This is a tough one, but its time to seriously consider getting away from those individuals who put you down and shred your confidence. Even a temporary break from Debbie Downer can make a huge difference and help you move toward more selfconfidence.Be positive.Put some positive enthusiasm into your interactions with others and hit the ground running, excited to begin your next project. _8_ Instead, begin to focus on solutions and making positive changes.Dont accept failure.Never give up. Never accept failure and get rid of the negative voices in your head. There is a solution to everything. _9_ Make this your new mantra (真言). Succeeding in a difficult or unpleasant situation is a huge confidence booster (激励)_10_Learn everything there is to know about your field, job, presentation whatever is next on your “to conquer” list. If you are prepared, and have the knowledge to back it up, your selfconfidence will rise very quickly.ABe prepared.BCreate a great list.CGet out of your comfort zone.DStop focusing on the problems in your life.ETherefore, why would you want to stop trying?FHeres how you can learn to be confident of all you do.GEvaluate your inner circle, including friends and family.【解题导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了提高自信的一些方法。6解析:F根据空前的“Wouldnt it be amazing to have this kind of selfconfidence? Guess what? You can”及下文罗列的内容可知,此处需填一个起承上启下的作用的句子,故F项“这是你可以学会对你所做的所有事情感到自信的方法”符合语境。7解析:G根据小标题“Stay away from negativity”以及G项中的“friends and family”与空后句子中的“those individuals”的对应关系可知,G项符合语境。8解析:D根据小标题“Be positive”及空后的“Instead, begin to focus on solutions and making positive changes”可知,空处所填内容与其后面的内容之间存在转折关系,故D项“不要再关注你生活中的问题”符合语境。9解析:E根据空前的“Never give up. Never accept failure and get rid of the negative voices in your head. There is a solution to everything”可知,空处所填内容与上文存在因果关系,故E项“因此,你为什么想要放弃努力呢?” 10解析:A根据最后一段中的内容尤其是“If you are prepared, and have the knowledge to back it up.” C(2017豫南六校评估)You may have grown up living with sisters and brothers, or this may be your first time sharing your living space with someone else. _11_ However, it can also be a great part of your college experience. Follow these tips to make sure you and your roommate keep things pleasant and supportive throughout the year.Be clear from the beginning.Maybe you hate it when someone interrupts you when you are sleeping every morning. Maybe you need ten minutes to yourself before talking to anyone after you wake up. _12_ Its not fair to expect him or her to pick up on them right away, and communicating what you need is one of the best ways to get rid of problems before they become problems._13_This may seem simple, but its probably one of the biggest reasons why roommates experience conflicts. Dont you think hell mind if you borrow his shoes for a quick soccer game? For all you know, you just stepped over the line. Dont borrow, use, or take anything without getting permission first.Be open to change. You should expect to learn and grow and change during your time at school. _14_ As the term progresses, realize things will change for both of you. Be comfortable settling things that unexpectedly come up, setting new rules, and being flexible to your changing environment.Follow the golden rule._15_ No matter what your relationship is at the end of the year, you can take comfort in knowing you acted like an adult and treated your roommate with respect.ARespect your roommates things.BLet your roommate know about your preferences.CTreat your roommate like youd like to be treated.DLiving with a roommate is really a wonderful thing.EHaving a roommate surely has its challenges.FYou should correct your bad habits first.GAnd the same should happen to your roommate, if all goes well. Be clear from the beginning.(从一开始就要说清楚)及设空后的communicating what you need is one of the best ways可知,与室友沟通,告诉他们你的需求是处理问题的最好方式,故B项(让室友了解你的偏好)符合语境。13解析:A根据设空下的borrow his shoes for a quick soccer game以及Dont borrow, use, or take anything without getting permission first. 14解析:G根据此段的标题Be open to change. 15解析:C根据设空后的. you can take comfort in knowing. and treated your roommate with respect. D(2017衡水中学高三大联考)How to Be More Creative Every DayCreativity isnt something you either have or dont have. In fact, it is something like playing the saxophone. _16_ So read on to know how.Be more curious. Its important to seek out new viewpoints every day. _17_ To involve this in your daily life, make sure to keep an open mind when youre presented with an idea, and be curious as to what else is around the corner.Give yourself space.Letting every piece of information into your brain drags you from being creative. Try to apply a level of space into your everyday life. _18_ It helps to lead your thinking patterns away from potential distractions (使人分心的事物), leaving much room to have creative ideas.Try something new.Frequent thinking patterns, in effect, cause you to be more likely to think the same things or make the same decisions over and over unless you get out of your comfort zone. _19_ Though not always easy, it does open up a whole new world of thinking!_20_Social media has created an environment where were constantly shown whether weve succeeded in the form of likes or comments, which leads us to doubt ourselves. However, creativity is a journey, and youre learning every step of the way. Honestly, youll learn much more from that than a straight win anyway. So be confident and tell yourse
