7A Unit5 Type of lesson: Integrated skillsTeaching aims and learning objectives:The students will be able to:1. get information from listening and learn the Chinese people in New York how to celebrate Chinese traditional festivals.2.train their own abilities of listening ,speaking ,reading and writing.3.find out the tips of the poster.4.learn to communicate with others properly.Teaching Contents: radio/take photos/around/different. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficultyTo learn how to obtain and consolidate information from listening.Teaching procedures: Step1. Warming upT: Please say sth. about the pictures. eg: What festival is it?When do people celebrate it? How do people celebrate it?Do you know any other festivals? Of all the festivals ,which do you like best?Which is the most important festival in the west? (Christmas Day)Which is the most important festival in China? (Chinese New Year) Step 2PresentationWe do lots of interesting things for Chinese New Year. But do you know how American Chinese in New York celebrate Chinese New Year?Lets watch a video on the screen1) New words teaching:Talk about the video and teach new words.Liondance,firework,Chinatown,show ,radio ,take photos ,around,different Tell Ss that in America American Chinese celebrate Chinese New Year in China town. They celebrate it in traditional ways.Some American people are also very interested in Chinese New Year. I hear that a girl named Wendy is very interested in Chinese New Year. T:Look! What is Wendy doing now? (S: She is reading a poster.)T:Where is she? Guess. (S: She is in New York.)Step 3.Reading.Please read the poster and answer :What are people going to do to celebrate the Chinese New Year? What are they going to eat ?What can they watch on that day ?Step 4. Listening 1. Ask students to read the table and guess. what time the celebration starts .listen and write the time they have each activity.Check the answers and make sure the students can expresss the time correctly.2.We know when they will do the activities ,but where they will have all the activities.please listen to the second part of the radio programme ,and write down the exact places .Check the answers and make sure the students can write the names of places correctly.Step 5.Writing T:Wendy is writing a postcard to Millie about Chinese New Year celebrations.Please help Wendy finsh her postcard .Get the students to discuss the answers in groups and get some individuals to read it.Read the postcard together.Let students ask wh-questions by themselves and answer , Then let Ss read together.Observe the form of the postcard.Step 6.Speak up .Have a nice day.T:Do you always have a nice day?Millie is talking to her mother about the Festival week at her school.get Ss to read the conversation and answer the questions :Why does Millie seem happy?What do they do?Where do they have the shows?Play the tape for Ss to repeat.Pay attention to the pronunciation. Read the dialoguesin roles .Act out the dialogues in pairs.Step 7.Let Ss talk about their nice days in pairs. Show their conversations.Step 8Making a posterMake a poster in groups of four .After finishing making posters. Each group choose one student to show their poster, say how they will celebrate the fest
