Ask them what language point is demonstrated. Attributive Clauses (引导词的省略)Step 3 Around the worldClassic American cartoons: Batman & Spiderman1). Batman and Spiderman are two of the most famous American cartoons. Batman is older than Spiderman. The first Batman cartoon appeared in 1939. Batman is one of the few cartoon heroes who have appeared in books since 1940.In 1977, he appeared in daily newspapers. The Spiderman cartoon has been in over 500 different newspapers around the word. Like Batman, Spiderman was also made into a television programme and was very successful. Both of them have been made into films, which helped to popularise them more widely, especially among children. Many try to imitate them. When they cant fly, like Batman, they might try to walk in walls or even try to climb up them. But the main thing they should try to learn from Batman or Spiderman is to do good things for people, to help those who are unhappy or in trouble.2).The Lion KingMufasa, the king of the lions, has a baby son called Simba. Mufasa has a brother, Scar, who hates Simba and his father because he wants to be king. With the help of some hyenas ( 土狼 ), Scar kill Mufasa, but very cleverly makes Simba believe that he killed his father.3). ShrekFarquaad, the ruler of a country called Duloc, decides that all the characters from fantasy stories must leave the country. There is a very big, ugly ogre ( 怪物 ) called Shrek who lives in a forest and all the fantasy characters hide in his home, although Shrek doesnt want them to.Step4. VocabularyThe (1) cartoon / cartoonist, Mao Xiaole, is very (2) funny/ popular in China. He gets the ideas for his (3) happy / funny stories or characters by looking at websites for daily news and events in China which will make people (4) joke / laugh. Sometimes he draws as many as five (5) cartoons / heroes in a single morning. He has a camera with him all the time which he uses to photograph things he finds interesting. Then, when he starts a (6) story/ drawing of something, he can make sure the details are exactly right.Step5. Grammar1. Attributive ClausesThe cartoons (which / that) I like have lots of jokes.在英语中,如果定语从句的引导词在从句中作宾语就可以省略,无论从句修饰的是人还是物.e.g. Did you go to the talk the famous cartoonist gave at your school?
