As the key carrier of international business communication, which more and more be attention, and obtained the unprecedented development and prosperous. The Business English conveys information, at the same time there are features of vocabulary and stylistic formal, language concise and lively, more professional. This thesis combines with the application environment and definition of Business English to analyze the characteristics from different point of view. Aim at the characteristics of Business English; focus on how to launch Business English training, in order to meet the demands of the economy and foreign trade continuous development; and then transfer professional technology talents with qualified business English.Keywords: Business English, English training, International business摘要随着我国对外贸易的快速发展,商务英语变得越来越重要了。作为国际商务往来交流的主要载体,商务英语越来越受到人们的关注了,并在近些年得到了空前的发展和繁荣。它在传达商务活动等信息的同时,又具有词汇语体规范正式,语句简洁明快,专业性极强的特点。本篇文章我将结合商务英语的应用环境和定义,从商务英语的各个角度出发,分析商务英语特点。并针对商务英语的特点,重点阐述怎样开展商务英语培训,以适应经济和对外贸易不断发展的需求,为市场输送合格的商务英语过硬的专业技术人才。关键词:商务英语,英语培训,国际商务The Characteristics and Methods of Business English Training1. IntroductionWith the development of Chinas economy, the contacts between China and other countries have become more frequently. The demands of China are not only understand foreign language, business knowledge, master professional skills, but also cross-cultural communication professionals. Business English is the main language of communication in our foreign business economic activities, which plays the role of a bridge. Business English knowledge relates to marketing, economics, finance, accounting and management etc. Business activities always relates to the introduction of technology, foreign trade, investment, foreign labor service contracts and contracts, international finance, foreign-related insurance, international tourism, overseas investment, international transportation, commercial advertising, business activities etc. (贾红 2010,155)These are related to using of English. Business English has characteristics of practicality, professionalism, clear purpose, and is recognized by business person. Therefore in all the companys normal activities for Business English training is very urgent, and has very strong demand. How to improve the business training effect, and enhances the trainees ability. So it necessary requires us to research the characteristics and method of Business English training. Business English content includes pronunciation, intonation, grammar, rhetoric, language knowledge. Its content not only can be a business newspaper, information technology, Internet information, commercial advertising, company profile, business information, company culture, radio and television programs, but also be a business contract, commerce, business letters, memos, reports, personal business job letters, notes, and fax. It can be a simple business oral English, or be a complicated economic and trade theory.There are some theses about Business English teaching In many magazines and journals, but there is little research about corporation Business English training. So I think it is necessary to research for Business English training method. There are many differences between the training object and the university campus students.so I think this is a very significant study. In this thesis I from dual viewpoint of the actual participants and study, gives effective methods to improving Business English training effect and efficiency.2. The characteristics of Business English training2.1 The purposes of Business English trainingThe purposes of Business English training are training different background trainees how to use of English language ability on real activities in special business environment. It can help trainees correctly understand, handle and answer various problems in the work. Therefore, the training content should include two aspects: one is to cultivate listening, speaking, reading, writing comprehensive application abilities; another is to train trainees professional skills, so that trainees can solve problems and tasks in special business situation with English to cultivate language ability and habit.2.2 The characteristics of Business English traininga) Practical applicability: Each course is aimed to the actual business activities. The purpose of training is to learn in order to practice; training content covered each part of business.b) Real material: As the background of real business activities, from a real business documents, British and American newspapers or magazines. Listening is also a real business environment.c) Topic-prominent: The training topic should prominent in every class. The topic can be a single business activity, or be targeted exercise.d) Wide training knowledge: Contains of history, geography, astronomy, botany, zoology, sociology, natural resources, the front-line science and others. As art, sports, movies, songs, museum, holiday, marriage etc.e) Combine theory with practice: There are a large number of interesting activities in training. When trainees learn Business English, they can actively participate in practical activities, and through activities to exercise the abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing.(沈燕 2003,10)f) Language communication-oriented: Trainees can communicate with different country, city and area trainees through Internet E-mail.2.3 The characteristics of traineesa) Major is not same. In company, trainee graduated from different university and different major. Someone study science; someone study arts; and some trainees graduated from professional English major.b) Age is not same. Sometimes in a same class there are huge gap of age of trainees. Someone has over 40 years old, someone less than 20 years old. So they have different English words reserve and attitude.c) Education level is not same. This is a general situation in Business English training. There are different degrees of trainees as Master, Bencher, Associate and less than.d) English ability is not same. Because of the differences of major background, age and education level of every trainee, so their English ability is jagged.e) The purpose of learning is not same. On the class it is not all trainees want to learn English, sometimes someone attends this training for attendance task only, someone wants to learn it and apply on works.2.4 The characteristics of Business English vocabularya) Vocabulary meaning is narrow. Some vocabularies of Business English have special meaning difference with general English. Some words in the business environment are related with the basic meaning, but some others are not.b) Using a large number of abbreviations. Business abbreviation professional terms appear with sanctioned by usage, and already well known by users. As Reps is sales reps, Ads is advertising, (夏璐 2009,137) ,ASAP, FYI, BTW, RSVP, PS, ATB, BR etc.c) A large number of new words. (邓惠惠 2009,185)These words appeared in business newspapers and books, and be accepted and be familiar with users. For instance, Euro, The euro is a unit of currency that is used by the member countries of the European Union which have accepted European monetary union. E Business is Electronic Commerce. E Money is electronic money. Soft - landing refers to a soft landing (economy) etc. Many new words have familiar words, but have absolutely different means, as call on, buy up, step down, get ahead, go under, break down, call off, point out, set up etc.2.5 The characteristics of Business English languagea) Strong purpose and objectivityBusiness English was applied in communication tasks or communication skills. Whether in business meetings, calls and discussion, the purpose is the most important one of communication characteristics. (顾康丽 2010,228) Business English speakers need to speak in English, and the purpose is persuading transaction service speakers to do according to their own views. Ultimate result is to get what they want.b) Mean of expression is plain and accurateWhen people want to express their ideas in English, they always tend to use more lucid, logic clear way to communicate, use specific language to accurately convey the information to other partners. So the thinking should be clear, logic strong. For example: “as a result”, “for this reason”, “Firstly, Secondly, Finally”, etc.c) ProfessionalBusiness English has the unique characteristics of industry. It is highly professional and using a large number of business terms. For example: indicators of reflection the dynamic macroeconomic, as “GDP (gross domestic product), etc. In import and export works, document terms include commercial invoice etc. Therefore, Business English language, vocabulary, content and professional is closely related with business theory and business practice information.d) Need difference cultural background, appropriate and polite using Business EnglishCommunication activities are around particular time, place and background. When speakers have common comprehension, thinking and talking background only, the purpose of oral communication can be achieved. Business English usage is also same. International trade staffs need to communicate with some strangers. Because of time is tight and meeting is short. Therefore we need to know international common rules, culture and with business closely connected to the so-called backgrounds, such as Anglo-American culture, cross-cultural communication, the country introduction etc. The people will get along well from different culture, different native language soon. Whenever, if necessary, dont forget to say thank you, would you please. , we would appreciate It., show sincere friendship and sincere respect.e) Formal style and wording strictBusiness English is practical style. Contents and readers are very strong specific. So words are generally more stringent. Unlike literary works, that the pursuit of language arts. Style is more formal style, and does not require using a large amount of rhetoric to enhance writing effect. It can use the phrase expression as far as possible without clause, can use the word, and does not use the phrase. Business English emphasizes subject and predicate. (刘白玉 2007,4) It usually puts the core content in the subject and the predicate and encourages using active tense, in order to directly transmit information to others.f) Follow the business principleBusiness principle is accurate, complete and particular. In International business activities there are business letters, contracts, involving trade rights and obligations of the parties. The language must be accurate, so as to avoid unnecessary disputes.In short, Business English is involved in the commercial principle, communication skills, business etiquette, and cultural background factors etc. The language of Business English has own unique language features. We need to understand more about the features of Business English. It can help us to understand its nature and function, and promote the Business English learning and application.3. The methods of Business English trainingBusiness English trainer is required higher ability what needs not only basic English theory in capacity, and have good abilities in listening, speaking, reading and writing too. It also requires trainers have a lot of business basic knowledge. Besides listening, speaking, reading and writing, trainer should give special training on writing skills and oral interpretation. On these aspects we can let the trainees to do business writing and group discussing, and then we can have a presentation on the writing or group discussing, debating, question and answer. This can make the training activities diversified, and not be a boring Business English training.3.1 Interesting-based approachTraining practice proved that the interest is the best teacher. Trainees always lack of interesting in learning English. The English often just to test, which lead to the prevalence of the so-called dumb English phenomenon, not the real purpose of English learning. Therefore, in the Business English training we should focus on stimulating trainees learning interesting, and develop trainees learning initiative and enthusiasm. It is the key point to improve the training effect. The trainer should arrange lively and vivid training contents, innovative and diverse training methods, humorous language, and passionate training manner, harmonious and happy training atmosphere, as an effective method stimulating trainees learning interesting. The happiness of successes is the source of the learning power.3.2 Interactive-based approachInteractive-based training is that should giving both trainer and trainee full play to subjective initiative during the training, to form a kind of training method of between teacher and trainee as dialogue each other, discuss with each other, communicate each other, interact and promote each other. Business communication is a kind of bilateral or multilateral economic activity, and then the Business English communication skills are realized in the bilateral or multilateral interaction only. So the interactive training should be highlighted in the training process.3.3 Scene simulation orient approachScene simulation training is build or simulate a real scene of real life in the classroom, forming a Business English communication language atmosphere, let the trainee into the Scene in the training content, creative learning and improvement English communicative competence and communicative level. It is designed to create an artificial training environment or situation, so that trainees can learn requirement course knowledge and ability in the real simulation atmosphere. Simulation training is a much more macroscopic training reform strategy. It considers the characteristics, requirements and rules of education and life. Simulation the social environment and through training, case analysis, and card display etc. collaborative training behavior, to comprehensive effect on trainees, that is very important to develop trainees professional ability, method capability, and problem solving ability. Scene setting refers to different education background and English communication content based in the class. In the classroom trainees are communicative subjects, teaching material is the content of communication, and trainer is the organizer and director of communication.3.4 Task-based approachTask-based Approach is a method of communicative language training. It can transfer basic theory of language application to special and practice training in the class. Trainees are the center on training, with a different task as the foundation, let the trainees through experience, practice, participation, cooperation and communicative to complete the learning task, aimed to realize for language training, to socialize for class , to focus on meaning more important rather than form on language learning. (王蔷 2010,38) Task-based has features of interactive, authenticity, process, and combine study with application. Trainees can carry out purposeful communicative activities to accomplish the communication task, in order to achieve the purposes of the training. Business English training with task-based approach, trainer can clearly design the purpose of each task, and can completed the task one by one. We hope what kind of skills will be improved in the training for all trainees. At the same time, to apply the study task training that can enhance the process of communication application, and fully embodies the language communication essence. Many studies show that: task-based under certain conditions is an effective way to cultivate trainees communicative. It can increase the initiative and participation in Business English training. It can not only improve the classroom training effect, activate class atmosphere, cultivate trainees interesting, enhance communication between teachers and trainees, but also exercise and strengthen trainees skills in language application and business activities.3.5 Case method of instructionCase method of instruction is through organization the trainees to discuss a series of cases, and then put forward solutions, let trainees to master relevant professional skills, knowledge and theory. In training process, the cases usually are some practical problems, or be adapted and virtual problems. Cases were selected that should conform the requirements of training purpose. There are typical, complex, theoretical or practical significance in case. Trainer organizes and guides trainees to discuss, analysis the relationship of facts, research the key problem, proposed the solutions and method for questions. This method can develop trainees ability to understand and make trainees to solve practical problems with their theoretical knowledge. Case method of instruction can be divided
