中国地质大学附属中学. 初三英语(完成句子 ) 2012.6.9(FT-2)八、阅读与表达(共10分,每小题2分)阅读短文,根据其内容回答问题。Do you have sleeping problems? Is it hard for you to remember or pay attention in class? Do you easily get angry? If your answer is yes, you may be under stress.Stress is a normal physical response (反应) to things that make people feel worried. In China, 70 percent of the 2,000 students about to take the college or high school entrance examination are under high stress, according to a recent survey by Wuhan University of Hubei province.Sometimes stress is good for people. It pushes people to do their best, like while getting ready before a big competition or exam. However, too much or long-term stress makes people feel a stress overload (负荷过多), and affects peoples health. When you feel stressed, there are some ways you can deal with (处理) it. Learning to solve small problems in everyday life is helpful. It can help build confidence to move on to lifes bigger ones. Try saying positive things to yourself, like “I will do the best that I can,” or “I can manage this if I take one step at a time.” That encourages you to work toward your goal. It is also important to relax sometimes, for example by getting a good nights sleep, doing exercises or taking a bath. But if you are under high stress and cant handle it by yourself, it is also good to ask parents or friends for help. Everyone has stress. Dont be too shy to tell others that you are having a hard time. They may comfort you or give you some useful advice. You may feel better just from sharing your problems with them. 271 w 64. Is stress a normal physical response to the worry?65. Who did a survey about stress in middle school students recently? 66. On the Internet people can “farm” on a piece of “land” and “grow”, “sell” or even “steal” “vegetables”, “flowers” and “fruits”. They can make some e-money and buy more “seeds”, “pets” and even “houses”. Of course, all those are not true, you know, they are on the net!I interviewed some young people. Here are their opinions.A parent says she doesnt quite understand why they are so mad about the childish games. Maybe they are just not confident enough to face the real world. Many junior high school children say they enjoy putting some “bugs” in her friends “gardens” and theyve become closer because of the game. Having fun together is the most exciting thing. Most young office workers think their work is too much for them and wish to relax for a while. Besides, it gives them the exciting experience of being a “thief”. But almost all the teachers say its just a waste of time. Teenagers playing the game spend so many hours on it that they can not pay attention to their study. (176)65. You may already know that hurricanes are storms, they can cause devastating (毁灭性的) waves, wind, and rain. They happen during “Hurricane Season,” which is from June 1st until November 30th in the Atlantic Ocean and from May 15th until November 30th in the Pacific Ocean. Categories (类别) of Hurricanes There are five categories of hurricanes, which are based on wind speeds. The categories help people know how much damage (危害) a hurricane may cause because the greater the wind speed, the more dangerous the storm. For example, a Category 5 hurricane has winds over 155 miles per hour, they are strong enough to destory the buildings along the shorelines completely. Hurricane Dangers When a hurricane happens together with heavy rainfall, there can be a devastating flood (洪水). The centre of a hurricane is called the eye. While most of a hurricane has dangerously strong winds, the eye is actually a calm (平静的) area in the storm. When the eye of a hurricane passes over land, people might think that its over, but before long the wind and rain increase again as the second part of the hurricane moves through. Hurricane Safety tips There is no way to stop a hurricane or make it change direction, so if you ever find yourself in the path of a hurricane, be sure to remember the following safety tips. Be sure you have a radio, batteries, fresh drinking water, and enough food. Tell neighbors, friends, and family members your emergency (紧急的) plans. Tell them where youll go if you need to leave your home. If you live near the ocean, leave your home and travel to a safe place. You could stay with a friend or a family member, in a hotel, or in an emergency shelter area. Stay inside during the storm. You could be seriously injured (受伤的) if you go outside. 57. They are part of a new addiction(瘾) called Internet addiction. Internet addicts spend at least thirty to forty hours online every week. The use of the Internet can be an addiction like drug use. People lose control of the time they spend on the Internet. For example, one college student was missing for several days. His friends were worried, and they called the police. The police found the student in the computer lab: he was surfing the net for several days straight. Studies show that about 6 to 10% of Internet users become addicted. And people worry about the teens because the Internet is changing the playing field for some of them. They spend more time in cyberspace than in the real world of friends and family. Is “surfing the net” a hobby or an addiction for you? You may have a problem if you have these symptoms (症状):You do not go to important family activities or you do not do school work because you like to spend hours on the Internet. You cant wait for your next online time. You plan to spend a short time online, but then you spend several hours. You go out with your friends less and less.64. Are there many people who immerse (沉浸) themselves in surfing the Internet?65.
