Teaching plan of Unit6 Be a Champion Lesson35 the Dream TeamXunyi Middle School Zhang Juanjuan First, Analysis of teaching materialUnit6 Be a Champion mainly talks about Olympics and records which are the hot social topics. Most students are interested in it. Lesson35 is the fifth lesson of this unit, it focuses on the dream teams from different countries, and why do we call them dream team? It only has three paragraphs, so it is very easy to understand. Students have known something interesting about the history of Olympics and records, and then with the help of learning lesson35 the Dream Team, it will not be that difficult for Ss to learn this reading passage. Second, Analysis of teaching aims.According to the demands of teaching syllabus and Ss cognitive level, I set the following teaching aims.1. Knowledge aims: To learn new words, phrases and target sentences in the reading passage. (defeat, gold medal, influence, Brazil, diving, badminton, coach never give up. do ones best to do sth. Etc.)2. Ability aims: To improve Ss integrate reading ability. To learn some reading strategies, such as skimming and scanning.3. Moral aims: to cultivate Ss communicative and cooperative spirit. To encourage students to work hard, do their best to be excellent, and never give up.4. Key points: To learn new words, phrases and target sentences. To get the main idea of the dream team.5. Difficult points: to cultivate Ss ability of discovering and anal sizing problems. To sum up the lesson.Third, Teaching methodsIt is generally known the aim of learning English in junior middle school is to improve Ss four skills of English learning and their good sense of this language. I will mainly use task-based teaching method. I will arrange some tasks to guide Ss to be the real masters while I myself will be a director. Whats more, the new curriculum standard advocates language is for communication. So it is necessary to focus on the development of Ss. I will also use communicative method and situational method to let Ss learn some reading strategies and develop their integrate ability of reading.Fourth, Learning methodsAccording to the teaching content and aims that I designed, students will mainly use skimming, scanning, guessing games and communication in groups in this reading period. And I think with the help of the teachers guidance and the right ways of reading, the tasks will not be difficult for them.Fifth, Teaching proceduresThere are five steps.Step1. Lead-in By greeting and enjoying a video about sport to lead to the topic.Purpose: a neat and smart lead-in will attract Ss attention and arouse their reading curiosity.Step2. Pre-reading 1. Show the objectives of this class; Let students know the, main idea of this lesson.2. Do a brainstorm about sports words; be ready for the following learning; boys and girls compete with each other.3. Check the preview.4. Listen and fill in the blanks. To learn the new words.Purpose: to cultivate students ability of learning English.Step3. While-reading1. Fast-reading (Skimming)To skim the passage quickly and answer the following questions. To skim quickly and answer the simple questions. Purpose: to cultivate students ability of getting the main idea of the passage through skimming.2. Careful-reading(Scanning)Group work: to scan the passage and answer the following three questions.Purpose: to cultivate Ss ability of getting the detailed information through scanning.3. Read again. Read the text fast, fluently or, funny. Do lets do it part three.Purpose: To arouse students interests of reading. Step4. Post-reading (2 ways)1. Play a guessing game. Purpose: to cultivate Students ability of imagination and presentation. To create a real situation for Ss to know sports. 2. Quick quiz, do some exercises.Purpose: To check students if they grasp the target sentences and the main idea of this lesson. To evaluate how much they have learnt.Step5. Summary and homework1. What have you learnt from this period?Show a saying from Michael Jackson and emphasize on the emotional aim- Nothing is absolutely free.2. To search on the Internet, and to get more information about the dream team. Fifth, blackboard design I will divide the blackboard into two parts, on the left side; I will write the key words of the lesson, and on the right side, I will draw a mind map of the main idea of the dream team. Sixth, teaching reflection Lesson thirty five the dream team its very charming for students. Its a reading passage, so I pay more attention to students reading ability, I use skimming scanning and reading again, to consolidate students reading ability, and check them as soon as possible.
